Free-agent quarterback Jacoby Brissett plans to sign with the Arizona Cardinals, a source tells ESPN's Jeremy Fowler. Brissett, who spent last year with the New England Patriots, will become the new backup to starter Kyler Murray in Arizona. Eleven of Brissett's 53 career starts have come with new Cardinals offensive coordinator Drew Petzing as his quarterbacks coach in Cleveland. The 32-year-old Brissett started the 2024 season as the Patriots' starter under center as they waited on first-rounder Drake Maye. In his eight appearances (five starts), Brissett struggled in a lackluster offense without many weapons, going 95-for-161 (59%) with 826 passing yards, two touchdowns and one interception as a low-ceiling game manager. He is a respected veteran backup, but the Cardinals offense will be in trouble if Murray misses time with an injury in 2025.--Keith HernandezSource: ESPN.com - Jeremy Fowler

The Arizona Cardinals are re-signing wide receiver Zay Jones to a one-year, $4.4 million deal, according to NFL insider Jordan Schultz. The 29-year-old signed with Arizona last May but was suspended for the team's first five games for violating the NFL's personal conduct policy. Overall, he played in 11 contests and totaled eight receptions for 84 yards. In addition to the Cardinals, Jones has spent time with the Buffalo Bills, Las Vegas Raiders, and Jacksonville Jaguars during his eight-year NFL career. He has posted more than 600 receiving yards just once in his career, so it would be a surprise if he's on the fantasy football radar in 2025.--Jackson Sparks - RotoBallerSource: Jordan Schultz

The Arizona Cardinals re-signed offensive guard Evan Brown to a two-year deal worth $11.5 million on Monday, according to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero. Brown was a valuable part of the Cardinals' offensive line last year and started in all 17 regular-season games. The 28-year-old former undrafted free agent out of SMU has already played with six different teams in his six years in the NFL. He debuted in 2019 with the New York Giants but also played with the Miami Dolphins that same season. Brown has also bounced around with the Cleveland Browns, Detroit Lions and Seattle Seahawks before finding a home in the desert. He should be the starter at left guard again heading into the 2025 regular season. Bringing Brown back is good news for quarterback Kyler Murray and the Cardinals' rushing attack.--Keith HernandezSource: NFL Network - Tom Pelissero

Free-agent linebacker Josh Sweat and the Arizona Cardinals reached an agreement on Monday on a four-year deal worth $76.4 million, including $41 million guaranteed, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. The deal was negotiated by agent Drew Rosenhaus. Sweat will head to the desert after seven seasons with the Philadelphia Eagles. The former fourth-round pick (130th overall) in 2018 out of Florida State was a Pro Bowler in 2021 and had a career-high 11 sacks in 16 starts in 2022. In 2024, Sweat finished with 41 tackles (27 solo), eight sacks, nine tackles for loss, 15 QB hits and two pass breakups in 16 regular-season games (15 starts). The 27-year-old pass-rusher added 2.5 sacks in the Super Bowl victory over the Chiefs and has six-plus sacks in five straight seasons. It is a much-needed addition to a Cardinals pass rush that didn't put much heat on opposing quarterbacks in 2024.--Keith HernandezSource: ESPN - Adam Schefter

The Arizona Cardinals re-signed pass-rusher Baron Browning to a two-year deal on Sunday, sources tell NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Browning receives $15 million in base salary over the next two years with upside to make as much as $19 million through incentives. The 26-year-old linebacker was acquired by Arizona from the Denver Broncos last November and he had 14 tackles (11 solo), two sacks and four tackles for loss in eight games (one start) for the Cardinals to close out the 2024 season. The former third-round pick by the Broncos in 2021 out of Ohio State will likely be a situational pass-rushing linebacker for the Cardinals again in 2025 in his first full season with the team. In his four years in the NFL, Browning has a total of 128 tackles (77 solo), 11.5 sacks, 19 tackles for loss, 25 QB hits, one interception, six pass breakups, two forced fumbles and a fumble recovery in 51 games (29 starts).--Keith HernandezSource: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport

Former Seattle Seahawks defensive lineman Roy Robertson-Harris is visiting with the Arizona Cardinals, according to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero. Robertson-Harris landed on the open market earlier this week when the Seahawks released him on Tuesday. The 31-year-old veteran is now free to sign with any team. Seattle acquired him midway through last season in a trade with the Jacksonville Jaguars, and he finished with 13 tackles (five solo) in 11 games with the Seahawks. The former undrafted free agent made his NFL debut in 2017 with the Chicago Bears and spent the first four years of his career in the Windy City before joining the Jaguars. In his eight years in the NFL, Robertson-Harris has 211 tackles (122 solo), 19 sacks, 27 tackles for loss, 67 QB hits, 14 pass breakups and a fumble recovery in 117 games (62 solo). The Cardinals were among the worst teams in terms of pass rush in 2024.--Keith HernandezSource: NFL Network - Tom Pelissero

The Arizona Cardinals have inquired about Cincinnati Bengals All-Pro defensive end Trey Hendrickson, a source told PHNX Sports' Johnny Venerable. Hendrickson still has one year left on his current deal with the Bengals, but last year's NFL sack leader wants a new deal. The Bengals gave the 30-year-old veteran permission to seek a trade this week, and plenty of teams figure to be interested. In addition to Arizona, the Washington Commanders and Atlanta Falcons are expected to have interest in the All-Pro pass-rusher this offseason. The Cardinals make a lot of sense, as their defense ranked 15th in the league in sacks per game. Wherever Hendrickson is playing in 2025, he'll be one of the first players taken in IDP fantasy drafts. The former third-round pick of the New Orleans Saints in 2017 out of Florida Atlantic has made the Pro Bowl each of the last four seasons and has 17.5 sacks in each of the last two years.--Keith HernandezSource: PHNX Sports - Johnny Venerable

Arizona Cardinals general manager Monti Ossenfort and owner Michael Bidwell said that the team plans to be active in free agency this offseason with more than $76 million available in salary cap space, according to Over The Cap. It's the fourth-most cap space available of any NFL team. "We're going to look for every avenue to improve the team, but we have to be smart about not only this year's team, but as we build for the future and our own players that we want to extend," Ossenfort said. The Cardinals will also continue working on a contract extension for Pro Bowl tight end Trey McBride. Arizona didn't make the playoffs in 2024 but managed to double their win total from the previous season. In addition to locking up McBride long term, don't be surprised if the Cardinals give quarterback Kyler Murray more help in the passing game alongside McBride and former first-rounder Marvin Harrison Jr.--Keith HernandezSource: AZCardinals.com - Zach Gershman

The Athletic's Doug Haller writes that the Arizona Cardinals don't have an obvious potential salary cap casualty on their roster this offseason with the fourth-most available cap space ($71.3 million), per Over The Cap, but safety Jalen Thompson could be a possibility. Thompson has been a starter for most of his six seasons and has been dependable, but he's also entering the final year of his current contract, and the Cardinals locked up Budda Baker last December. In addition, Arizona drafted Dadrion Taylor-Demerson in the fourth round in 2024. Releasing Thompson would save the Cardinals almost $6.6 million in cap space this year. The 26-year-old was pretty productive in 2024 in his sixth year in the NFL, recording 98 tackles (61 solo), three tackles for loss, three pass breakups and two fumble recoveries in 15 starts, but he didn't have an interception for the first time since 2020.--Keith HernandezSource: The Athletic - Doug Haller

ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reports that the Arizona Cardinals hope to re-sign impending free-agent tight end Trey McBride this offseason. The tight end market has been in the $15-17 million per-year range for some time now, but McBride could change that this offseason after recording 192 catches the last two seasons. Although he inexplicably scored just two touchdowns during the 2024 season, McBride led the Cardinals across the board as a receiver and also set new career-highs in receptions (111), targets (147) and receiving yards (1,146) in 16 games played. His 1,146 receiving yards were second at the position, behind only rookie Brock Bowers. McBride was the TE3 in half-PPR scoring, behind Bowers and George Kittle. He will be highly coveted on the open market, but it sounds like Arizona will do everything in their power to retain him. McBride has upside for more in 2025 if he can find the end zone more.--Keith HernandezSource: ESPN.com - Jeremy Fowler

Arizona Cardinals impending free-agent offensive guard Will Hernandez (knee) stated his intentions of wanting to re-sign with the team this offseason. "I'd love to stay, but at the end of the day, it's not up to me," Hernandez said. It remains to be seen if the Cardinals have mutual interest in bringing the 29-year-old offensive lineman back after playing in only five games in 2024 due to a knee injury that landed him on Injured Reserve. His market this offseason will depend on how he's recovering from knee surgery. Hernandez was originally a second-round pick (34th overall) in the 2018 NFL draft by the New York Giants out of Texas-El Paso. He spent the first four years of his NFL career in the Big Apple before playing each of the last three seasons with the Cardinals. In his three years in the desert, Hernandez has started all 35 games that he's appeared in.--Keith HernandezSource: PHNX Sports - Bo Brack

Three-time Pro Bowl cornerback Justin Bethel announced his retirement from professional football on Wednesday after spending 12 seasons in the NFL for the Arizona Cardinals, New England Patriots, Miami Dolphins, Atlanta Falcons and Baltimore Ravens. Bethel was originally selected in the sixth round by the Cardinals in 2012 out of Presbyterian. The first six years of his NFL came in the desert, where Bethel was named to all three of his Pro Bowls in a three-year span from 2013-15. The 34-year-old veteran didn't play a single game in 2024 and had only 19 tackles (15 solo), half a sack and one pass breakup in 17 games (one start) for the Dolphins in 2023. Bethel wraps up his 12-year NFL career with 282 total tackles (235 solo), half a sack, five interceptions (three returned for touchdowns), 25 pass breakups, five forced fumbles and eight fumble recoveries in 193 games (15 starts).--Keith HernandezSource: NFL.com

When asked if quarterback Kyler Murray would be the team's starter in 2025, Arizona Cardinals head coach Jonathan Gannon said, "100 percent," on Burns And Gambo. "He's a top-level, franchise quarterback," Gannon said. Although he led the Cardinals to an 8-9 record and no playoff appearance, Murray did throw for 3,851 yards -- the second-highest total of his career -- 21 touchdowns and 11 interceptions in 17 starts. His 572 rushing yards -- he added five touchdowns on the ground -- ranked fourth among all QBs in 2024. The 27-year-old isn't going anywhere heading into the second year of a five-year, $230.5 million extension that he signed in July of 2022. Arizona should keep most of their skill players on offense, but Murray will need to establish more chemistry with first-round wideout Marvin Harrison Jr. to take a step forward for the Cardinals and fantasy managers that make him their QB1.--Keith HernandezSource: AZCardinals.com - Darren Urban

Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Greg Dortch had his best performance of the season in the 47-24 win over the San Francisco 49ers. Dortch had an increased role in this game with wide receiver Michael Wilson (hamstring) out of the lineup. Dortch's official stat line was four catches for 47 yards and two touchdowns. Dortch wasn't as involved in the Cardinals' offense as some had expected this season; however, his performance at the end of the year proved he is still capable of making plays when given the opportunity. It will be interesting to see what Dortch's role will be with the Cardinals heading into next season.--Cody Pestino - RotoBallerSource: ESPN.com
