Behren Morton Will Start Against Kansas State
Texas Tech quarterback Behren Morton (leg) feels "really good" and will start against Kansas State in Week 10, according to head coach Joey McGuire. Morton missed the team's last two contests against Arizona State and Oklahoma with a leg injury, giving Will Hammond (knee) two consecutive starts. Hammond suffered a torn ACL in Saturday's win, ending his season. In six games this season, Morton has tallied 1,501 passing yards, 13 passing touchdowns, and three interceptions. With the Red Raiders suffering an upset loss in Week 8, the team's margin for error is small, especially given the recent ascension of BYU.

Lane Kiffin Says Money Won't Impact his Decision-Making
Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin is now rumored to be a candidate for the vacant Florida and LSU head coaching jobs, but the 50-year-old said money is not going to be a factor in his decision-making. "I have never made a decision based off money, nor will I," Kiffin said. "I've seen too many examples in life where money does not buy happiness. So I'm never going to make a decision off of money, nor do I care about it. Jimmy Sexton (his agent) gets really mad when I say that." Since taking over the Rebels' program in 2020, Kiffin has compiled a 51-19 record, including 29-17 in SEC play. Ole Miss is 7-1 through Week 9 and has a great chance to qualify for the College Football Playoff in 2025. Florida and LSU are widely considered to be better programs than Ole Miss, but if it truly isn't about the money for Kiffin, he could stay put in Oxford.

Arch Manning in Concussion Protocol, Misses Practice Monday
Texas quarterback Arch Manning (head) is in concussion protocol and did not practice on Monday, according to ESPN's Pete Thamel. The redshirt sophomore exited Saturday's win over Mississippi State in overtime, forcing backup Matthew Caldwell into action. Caldwell completed his only pass attempt of the game for a 10-yard touchdown, which ultimately proved to be the game-winning score. If Manning can't play this week against No. 9 Vanderbilt, Caldwell will be in line to start. Coming into this season with sky-high expectations, Manning has completed just under 61% of his passes for 1,795 yards, 15 touchdowns, and six interceptions. He tallied over 350 total yards and four touchdowns against the Bulldogs before exiting. Caldwell is a fifth-year senior who transferred to Austin following one season at Troy in 2024.

The Big 12's leading receiver, Arizona State's Jordyn Tyson (hamstring), is listed as out on the initial injury report for Week 9. Behren Morton Will be Listed as Questionable on Wednesday
Texas Tech quarterback Behren Morton (knee) is expected to be listed as questionable on Wednesday's Big 12 injury report, according to On3's Pete Nakos. The senior gun-slinger missed last week's loss to Arizona State with a knee injury and is considered day-to-day heading into a matchup with Oklahoma State. While anything can happen on any given Saturday, the Red Raiders could opt to rest Morton this week against the worst team in the conference. Either way, Texas Tech should be considered heavy favorites against the Cowboys. So far this season, Morton has completed over 68% of his passes for 1,501 yards, 13 touchdowns, and three interceptions. He has a 6-0 record as a starter in 2025.

Colorado State Fires Head Coach Jay Norvell After Four Seasons
Colorado State fired head coach Jay Norvell after four-plus seasons in Fort Collins. Norvell exits with a record of 18-26. Colorado State was 2-5 this season. Norvell led Colorado State to its first 8-win season in 10 years in 2024, and its first bowl game since 2017. Colorado State's offensive struggles led to Norvell's firing less than a year after its best season since 2015. Defensive Coordinator Tyson Summers will be the interim head coach for the remainder of the 2025 season.

Curt Cignetti Signs Eight-Year, $11.6 Million Extension With Indiana
Indiana and head football coach Curt Cignetti have agreed to an eight-year contract extension that will pay the coach $11.6 million per year. This reiterates Indiana's commitment to Cignetti while rumors swirl about Cignetti possibly listening to offers from schools without a coach. This should keep Cignetti in Bloomington through the end of the regular season in 2033. Cignetti took the Indiana job at the end of the 2023 season, coming over from James Madison. He led the Hoosiers to an 11-2 record last year and an invite to the College Football Playoff. It was Indiana's first time winning double-digit games in a season. The Hoosier have played football since 1887. Cignetti has Indiana at 6-0 in 2025, earning the No. 3 ranking in the AP Poll. That is the highest ranking in school history.

Jam Miller Questionable to Face Tennessee
Alabama running back Jam Miller (head) was listed as questionable on Wednesday's official injury report for the upcoming matchup against No. 11 Tennessee. The Senior was banged up in last week's win over Missouri and is in concussion protocol. "Jam is continuing to move along here throughout the week," head coach Kaleb DeBoer said Wednesday night during his radio show. "But there's, we call it the protocol. Everyone knows it as the protocol. You've got to meet those steps throughout the week." Miller missed the team's first three games of the season before returning and providing a spark to the Tide's rushing attack. In three contests, Miller has posted 58 rushing attempts for 267 yards and one score. If he can't play on Saturday, Kevin Riley should operate as the lead back.

Jayden Gibson No Longer with Oklahoma Program
Junior wide receiver Jayden Gibson is no longer with the Oklahoma program, according to head coach Brent Venables. The former four-star recruit in the Class of 2022 caught 14 passes for 375 yards and five touchdowns as a redshirt freshman in 2023 before missing all of the 2024 season due to injury. He reportedly suffered another injury this offseason and has not appeared in a game for the Sooners in 2025. In the new age of college football, we'll continue to see players leave programs and head for the transfer portal when things go south. Gibson could be a significant contributor as a deep-threat specimen wherever he lands for the 2026 campaign.
