Jadan Baugh Staying with Florida for Junior Season
Florida rising junior running back Jadan Baugh has agreed to a new deal with the program to stay for the 2026 season, according to On3Sports. Despite the Gators having immense offensive struggles during his two seasons in Gainesville, Baugh has been a bright spot. In 25 career games, he's tallied 353 carries for 1,843 yards and 15 touchdowns. He's a capable receiver, too, with 37 career receptions for 243 yards and three touchdowns. This is a significant win for new head coach Jon Sumrall, as the Georgia native projects to be one of the best returning offensive players in the SEC. With a big 2026 campaign, Baugh could play his way into being a top running back prospect in the 2027 NFL Draft.

Byrum Brown Officially Commits to Auburn
South Florida transfer quarterback Byrum Brown has committed to Auburn, reported by ESPN's Pete Thamel. The 21-year-old spent four years at USF, compiling 7,690 passing yards, 2,265 rushing yards, and 93 total touchdowns in 35 career games. Brown was a 3,000-yard passer and 1,000-yard rusher in his final season with the Bulls. With former USF head coach Alex Golesh now at Auburn, this was an expected move as soon as Brown announced his intention to enter the transfer portal last month. Golesh has the chance to get out to a hot start in his first season as an SEC head coach with continuity at the QB spot.

Austin Simmons Signing with Missouri
Former Ole Miss quarterback Austin Simmons is signing with Missouri, according to ESPN's Pete Thamel. Simmons was supposed to be the next prolific quarterback in Lane Kiffin's offense in Oxford after Jaxson Dart, but after suffering an injury and struggling early in the 2025 campaign, Trinidad Chambliss seized the QB1 job for the Rebels. The former four-star recruit ended his Ole Miss career with 1,026 yards, six touchdowns, and five interceptions in limited action. However, he appeared in 17 total games, and he has just two years of eligibility remaining. Eli Drinkwitz and the Tigers are hoping to turn their passing game around after a rough showing by Beau Pribula in conference play last season.

Ty Simpson Undecided on 2026 Plans
Alabama quarterback Ty Simpson has not made a decision regarding his 2026 status, according to ESPN's Pete Thamel. Simpson exhausted his third year of collegiate eligibility in 2025, completing 64.5% of his passes for 3,567 and 28 touchdowns to just five interceptions. In the middle of his junior campaign, Simpson looked like a sure-fire early-first-round NFL Draft pick for 2026. However, he cooled off near the end of the first season as a starter. Thamel reports that Simpson's most likely option is to declare for the 2026 NFL Draft, but in today's NIL and transfer portal climate, you never know what can happen. Staying at Alabama or moving schools is in the realm of possibilities.

Quarterback AJ Hill Following Ryan Silverfield to Arkansas
Transfer quarterback AJ Hill is following former Memphis head coach Ryan Silverfield to Arkansas. ESPN's Pete Thamel reports Hill is committing to the Razorbacks early in the transfer portal window. Hill was a top-15 quarterback recruit in the Class of 2025, but he saw limited action for the Tigers as a true freshman. Backing up Brandon Lewis last year, Hill played in just two games, completing 19 of his 32 passing attempts for 223 yards, one touchdown, and one interception. Last year's starting quarterback at Arkansas, Taylen Green, is out of eligibility, so the QB1 role is up for grabs in Fayetteville. As a former big-time recruit with experience working with Silverfield, Hill is in a solid position to grab that role in 2026 as a redshirt sophomore.

Trinidad Chambliss Will Return to Ole Miss If Granted Sixth Year of Eligibility
Ole Miss quarterback Trinidad Chambliss has agreed to a new deal with Ole Miss, pending his eligibility waiver to the NCAA, which would grant him another season. The fifth-year senior has been excellent for the Rebels following a four-year stint at Ferris State. He won the starting role for the Bulldogs in 2024 and led the program to a Division II National Championship. He began the 2025 season as the backup to Austin Simmons, but after Simmons was injured early in the season, Chambliss took over the reins and has not looked back. In 14 game appearances, the 23-year-old has completed over 66% of his passes for 3,660 yards, 21 touchdowns, and just three interceptions. He's added 520 yards and eight scores on the ground. Chambliss has led Ole Miss to two College Football Playoff wins thus far, and he won't follow Kiffin to LSU if he's granted an extra year. Needless to say, this is a great potential development for Ole Miss in 2026.

Transfer QB Billy Edwards Commits to North Carolina
Former Maryland and Wisconsin quarterback Billy Edwards has committed to North Carolina and head coach Bill Belichick, the senior confirmed to On3Sports. In three seasons with Maryland and one season with Wisconsin (28 games), Edwards has completed 318 of his 512 passing attempts for 3,435 yards, 19 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions. He's added 13 touchdowns as a runner. Edwards isn't one of the biggest names in the transfer QB market, but he'll presumably get a chance to compete for the starting role in Chapel Hill. The Tar Heels offense will be led by Bobby Petrino in 2026 after Freddie Kitchens was fired as offensive coordinator after just one season under Belichick.

Sam Leavitt Visiting Texas Tech on Saturday
Former Arizona State quarterback Sam Leavitt is set to visit Texas Tech on Saturday, according to On3's Pete Nakos. Leavitt entered the transfer portal when it officially opened on January 2 with a "do not contact" tag. This means programs cannot contact Leavitt, but he has clearly already been in contact with several suitors. Leavitt played in 20 games with the Sun Devils, tallying 4,513 passing yards, 743 rushing yards, and 46 total touchdowns. He threw just nine interceptions. Texas Tech is doing homework on several veteran quarterbacks after its shutout loss to Oregon in the College Football Playoff Quarterfinals ended its season. Behren Morton struggled mightily in his last game as a Red Raider, tossing for just 137 yards, no touchdowns, and two interceptions.

DJ Lagway Expected To Visit Florida State
Former Florida Gators quarterback DJ Lagway is reportedly expected to visit Florida State as he evaluates options in the transfer portal. The former five-star recruit entered the portal last month after spending two seasons with the Gators and is considered one of the most high-profile quarterbacks available this offseason. Lagway has generated interest from multiple programs, and Florida State appears to be a serious contender for his services as the program looks to reset at the position. The Seminoles are coming off a disappointing 5-7 season in 2025 and will be forced to go in a new direction at quarterback following the departure of incumbent starter Tommy Castellanos.

Joey Aguilar Undergoes Surgery to Remove Tumor on Friday
Tennessee quarterback Joey Aguilar underwent successful surgery on Friday to remove a benign tumor that has been pushing on his biceps tendon and labrum, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Rapoport reports that the tumor has been causing weakness and pain, but the situation has been kept quiet. Aguilar is expected to fully recover from the surgery in eight weeks. After spending time at City College of San Francisco, Diablo Valley, and Appalachian State, Agauilar transferred to UCLA last Spring before heading to Tennessee after it was announced Nico Iamaleava would join the Bruins following Spring practice. In 13 games with the Vols, Aguilar threw for 3,565 yards, 24 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions. He tallied an 8-5 record. Aguilar is currently seeking another year of collegiate eligibility, but it seems likely that his time in Knoxville will conclude after one year.

Texas the "Team to Beat" for Transfer Running Back Isaac Brown
According to On3Sports' sources, Texas is "the top team to beat" for Louisville running back transfer Isaac Brown. The Longhorns are losing ball carriers Quintrevion Wisner and CJ Baxter to the transfer portal, so they have an immediate need at the position, and Brown is widely regarded as the top player available at the position. In his first two collegiate seasons, Brown has been one of the best running backs in the country. He's tallied 266 carries for 2,057 yards and 18 touchdowns as a runner and 43 receptions for 200 yards and one score as a receiver. The rising true junior could be a game-breaking addition to the Texas offense, and it appears the Longhorns are the big favorite to land the Florida native in this year's transfer portal.

Rocco Becht to Follow Matt Campbell to Penn State?
Iowa State transfer quarterback Rocco Becht is set to visit Penn State in the coming days, according to ESPN's Pete Thamel. His former head coach, Matt Campbell, is now the head coach at Penn State, so it would come as no surprise if he lands in State College after officially entering the transfer portal on Friday. Becht played in 42 games for the Cyclones over the last four seasons, tallying 9,274 passing yards, 64 passing touchdowns, and 27 interceptions. He's a capable runner, too, totaling 499 rushing yards and 19 scores. Penn State will need to be aggressive in the transfer portal to be competitive in 2026, and adding a veteran with experience in Campbell's program would be a great first step in fielding a viable team right away.

Texas Targeting Cam Coleman in Transfer Portal
The Texas Longhorns are working on bringing Auburn wide receiver transfer Cam Coleman on a visit to Austin, according to On3's Pete Nakos. Coleman announced his desire to enter the transfer portal last week, and he's widely viewed as the No. 1 overall player available. The rising junior has been excellent at Auburn despite the team's lackluster offensive showing, collecting 93 receptions for 1,306 yards and 13 touchdowns in 23 career games. After losing key wide receivers such as Matthew Golden, Adonai Mitchell, Xavier Worthy, and Isaiah Bond to the NFL over the last two seasons, Texas lacked consistent high-level play at the position in 2025. Adding Coleman to Arch Manning's group of weapons could take the team's offense to the next level as they look to compete for a College Football Playoff National Championship in 2026 after failing to make the CFP for the first time since the 2022-2023 campaign this season.

Former Texas Running Back CJ Baxter Visiting Kentucky
According to ESPN's Pete Thamel, Texas running back transfer CJ Baxter is visiting Kentucky after entering the transfer portal. Baxter is a former five-star running back recruit out of Orlando, and he tallied 192 carries for 855 yards and five touchdowns in 22 career games with the Longhorns. He pitched in 36 receptions, 197 yards, and a touchdown as a receiver. New Kentucky head coach Will Stein is looking to bring a productive and explosive offense with him from Oregon, something that has been missing in Lexington for a long time. Although Baxter hasn't lived up to his prospect ranking, he's a talented ball carrier and would be a great get for the Wildcats.

Beau Pribula Visiting Virginia Tech, Georgia Tech
Former Penn State and Missouri quarterback Beau Pribula is visiting Virginia Tech and Georgia Tech after officially entering the transfer portal, according to Matt Zenitz of CBS. Pribula played under new Virginia Tech head coach James Franklin in State College, but he was relegated to the backup role behind Drew Allar. The Yellow Jackets are looking for a new starting quarterback after losing Haynes King. Pribula flashed early in his short Missouri career, but he cooled off as conference play heated up later in the year. Overall, the rising redshirt senior completed 67.4% of his passes for 1,941 yards, 11 touchdowns, and nine interceptions in 2025. He added 297 yards and six scores as a runner. It sounds like he could be starting for an ACC team next year to close out his career.
