Travis Williams Joining Texas A&M Defensive Staff
Reported by ESPN's Pete Thamel, former Arkansas defensive coordinator Travis Williams is joining Mike Elko's staff at Texas A&M as a linebackers coach. He could also potentially join the staff with another title. The 42-year-old began his collegiate coaching career as a graduate assistant for Auburn in 2009 and worked his way up to co-defensive coordinator for the Tigers. He then spent two seasons as UCF's defensive coordinator before three seasons running the Razorbacks' defense. Arkansas showed flashes on defense in 2023 and 2024, but Williams' unit fell apart in 2025, ranking at or near the bottom of several defensive stats in the SEC. Despite that, this is a strong hire for Elko, as Williams has tons of practical experience and a reputation as a solid recruiter.

Dylan Raiola Entering His Name into Transfer Portal
Nebraska quarterback Dylan Raiola (leg) intends to enter the transfer portal when it officially opens on January 2, according to ESPN's Pete Thamel. Raiola suffered a broken fibula in the team's November 1 loss to USC, ending his season after nine games. Through his first 22 collegiate contests, he's tallied 4,819 passing yards, 31 passing touchdowns, and 17 interceptions. The 20-year-old was the No. 7 overall player and No. 2 quarterback in the 2024 recruiting class (247Sports) and was originally committed to Georgia before flipping to the Cornhuskers. Raiola was born in Hawaii and played his high school football in Texas, Arizona, and Georgia. He should draw plenty of interest in the transfer portal, though it will be a competitive market after DJ Lagway, Brendan Sorsby, and more have announced their intentions to leave their schools.

Cincinnati's Brendan Sorsby Plans to Transfer When Portal Opens
Cincinnati quarterback Brendan Sorsby is expected to enter the winter transfer portal, according to On3Sports. This is somewhat of a surprising development for the 21-year-old, and he should draw plenty of interest on the open market. After Allen's firing, he spent two years with the Bearcats, tallying 5,613 passing yards, 45 passing touchdowns, and 12 interceptions in 24 games. Baylor, LSU, Miami Among Potential Suitors for DJ Lagway
According to On3Sports sources, Baylor, LSU, and Miami are among the programs to watch in the potential pursuit of Florida quarterback DJ Lagway, who is set to enter the transfer portal this offseason. Lagway is a Texas native, and his father, Derek, played running back at Baylor from 1997 to 2001. LSU and Miami were both top players in Lagway's initial recruitment as a five-star prospect in 2024, and both programs will need new starting quarterbacks with Garrett Nussmeier and Carson Beck departing. The 20-year-old is one of the most talented quarterbacks in the country, but he has yet to put it all together, and injuries have not helped his cause. Overall, Lagway has completed 62% of his passes for 4,179 yards, 28 touchdowns, and 23 interceptions in 24 career games.

Aidan Chiles Will Enter Transfer Portal
Michigan State quarterback Aidan Chiles plans to enter the NCAA transfer portal when it officially opens on January 2, according to ESPN's Pete Thamel. The 20-year-old has one season of eligibility remaining, and he'll exercise it at his third school in four years. Chiles began his career at Oregon State before following head coach Jonathan Smith to Michigan State. Overall, the California native has appeared in 30 career games, completing 61.3% of his passes for 4,116 yards, 27 touchdowns, and 14 interceptions. Quarterback DJ Lagway Entering Transfer Portal
Florida Gators quarterback DJ Lagway is expected to enter the NCAA transfer portal, according to ESPN's Pete Thamel. The Texas native was a splash signing for former head coach Billy Napier in the Class of 2024. He was 247 Sports' No. 3 overall player and No. 1 quarterback recruit in the country two years ago. Lagway has all the physical tools you want in a quarterback, but he's been unable to stay healthy and put it all together so far in his young career. In 24 career games, Lagway has completed 62% of his passes for 4,179 yards, 28 touchdowns, and 23 interceptions. He threw for just 16 touchdowns to 14 interceptions in 2025. He did not take the sophomore leap many expected him to this season, but he should garner plenty of interest on the open market thanks to his raw tools and skill set. New Florida head coach Jon Sumrall will be tasked with finding a new starting quarterback in Gainesville.

LaNorris Sellers to Return to South Carolina in 2026
South Carolina quarterback LaNorris Sellers is negotiating a new deal to return to the program for the 2026 season, according to ESPN's Pete Thamel. Many assumed the talented South Carolina native could be headed for the transfer portal or the NFL following a disappointing season in 2025, but he'll remain in Columbia for at least one more season. Sellers broke out as a redshirt freshman in 2024, tossing for 2,534 yards, 18 touchdowns, and seven interceptions. He also rushed for 674 yards and seven scores, leading South Carolina to a nine-win season. This season, he tallied 2,437 passing yards, 270 rushing yards, and just 18 total touchdowns, as the Gamecocks finished with a 4-8 record. South Carolina recently hired former TCU offensive coordinator Kendal Briles to help Sellers turn things around in his redshirt Junior campaign. Washington State Expected to Hire Kirby Moore as Next Head Coach
Missouri offensive coordinator Kirby Moore is working on a deal to become the next head coach at Washington State, according to ESPN's Pete Thamel. The program just lost Jimmy Rogers to Iowa State after just one season, and it moved quickly to find its fourth full-time head coach since Mike Leach departed in 2020. Moore worked under Eli Drinkwitz in Columbia beginning in 2023, following a stint at Fresno State, and helped the Tigers become one of the most productive offenses in the SEC. Moore was a popular name in this year's coaching cycle and has ties to the West, so this is a strong hire for Washington State as it transitions into the look-look PAC-12 in 2026.

After a disastrous start to the season, UNC's defense showed signs of life and improvement, but its offense continued to be an issue. North Carolina scored more than 20 points just twice against conference foes. Belichick has a wide range of former assistant coaches who could be interested in joining him in Chapel Hill after he moved on from the former Cleveland Browns' head coach. Special teams coordinator Mike Priefer has also been let go.

Bryce Underwood Could Leave Michigan Without Buyout
According to ESPN's Pete Nakos, Michigan quarterback Bryce Underwood does not have a buyout in his contract, meaning the talented freshman is free to transfer following the dismissal of head coach Sherrone Moore. Nakos reports that Underwood's camp is keeping a close eye on who the next head coach hire will be. The 18-year-old was committed to LSU before flipping to Michigan. With Lane Kiffin now in Baton Rouge and in need of a starting quarterback, the rumors have already begun swirling that Underwood could be headed to LSU. Sherrone Moore Remains in Police Custody
Former Michigan head coach Sherrone Moore was arrested on Wednesday night by the Saline Police Department and transferred to Washtenaw County Jail for alleged assault. This came on the same day Moore was fired by Michigan with cause after the University found evidence that Moore had an inappropriate relationship with someone on the football staff. As of now, the details are not all available or clear, but Dan Wetzel of ESPN reports that the Washtenaw County Prosecutors' Office does not expect to have a decision on charging Moore on Thursday. "The matter involving Mr. Moore remains under active investigation by law-enforcement, and as a result, we do not expect charging decisions or an arraignment today. Mr. Moore remains in custody at the Washtenaw County Jail." Needless to say, this is a shocking story coming out of the college football world, and further details will become available in due time.
