What is the Fantasy Football Dynasty Trade Calculator?
A dynasty trade calculator is a powerful tool for new, intermediate, and advanced dynasty managers to easily and instantly determine and evaluate the fairness of trades, using numerical values for players and draft picks. Unlike redraft fantasy football trade calculators, this tool takes long-term value into account. These values are determined by age, future projections, and roster/scoring format. A quarterback’s value in superflex leagues vs 1QB leagues or a tight end’s value in TE-premium vs regular PPR leagues is enhanced based on either positional scarcity or bonus scoring.
Even some young players who suffer season-ending injuries or are beginning their careers as backups have value in dynasty trade calculators, since the tool is taking more than one season into account.

How Our Fantasy Football Dynasty Player Values Are Calculated
Our dynasty fantasy football trade calculator is built on RotoBaller’s expert consensus dynasty rankings, which are updated all year long for the latest injuries, role changes, off-the-field developments, and any other factors that shape player values. Unlike crowdsourced rankings and values, these are configured by experts and advanced dynasty players and do not overcorrect based on the latest blip on the radar. Crowdsourced rankings are a helpful tool for “reading the market,” but our dynasty trade calculator is the industry's best resource for accurate trade evaluations, thanks to the work behind the scenes that shapes its functionality.
Unlike with standard dynasty rankings, our trade calculator adjusts values based on age, position scarcity, rookie draft capital, and more. For the rules below, "young players" are 27 and under, and "veterans" are age 28 and older.
- Young players receive slight to significant value multipliers for “rebuilding” teams
- Young players receive slight to significant value discounts for “contending” teams
- Veterans receive slight to significant value multipliers for “contending” teams
- Veterans receive slight to significant value discounts for “rebuilding” teams
- Draft Picks receive slight to significant value multipliers for “rebuilding” teams
- Draft Picks receive slight to significant value discounts for “contending” teams

Fantasy Football Dynasty Trade Calculator for Every League Format
Superflex Dynasty Trade Calculator
In Superflex dynasty leagues, stud quarterbacks, especially young ones, are nearly “untouchable” assets. A player like Josh Allen has carried loyal dynasty managers to multiple deep postseason runs, demonstrating his long-term value and league-winning upside. Especially since quarterbacks can play at a high level for 10+ years, all quarterbacks receive a significant value boost in Superflex leagues, with the top dogs receiving a significant value spike. Positional scarcity is also a factor, as each dynasty manager is looking to roster at least three starting quarterbacks. In 12+ team leagues, that’s not possible.
1QB Dynasty Trade Calculator
While game-changers at quarterback remain valuable, and the elite studs are gaining value in single-QB leagues in recent years, the most valuable assets are young running backs and wide receivers. Because quarterbacks are more available and plentiful in 1QB leagues, and you don’t have two quarterbacks in your starting lineups, spike weeks from RBs and WRs have a greater impact on who wins weekly matchups.
TE Premium Dynasty Trade Calculator
In most TE premium leagues, tight ends are awarded a 1.5x multiplier for receptions and/or receiving yards. Naturally, this makes game-changing, Tier 1 tight ends some of the most valuable players in the entire dynasty fantasy football league. In non-TE Premium leagues, you wouldn’t think twice about shipping off the dynasty TE3 for the dynasty WR10. But in this scoring format, where ceiling performances of tight ends match wide receivers, that deal is likely close to fair and even. All tight ends receive value boosts if you check the “TE Premium” box
Rookie Pick Values in Dynasty Trades
The most valuable rookie picks in trades will always be first-round selections in the next draft, with value decreasing each year out into the future. While one draft class in the future might be projected to be better than the upcoming class, having to wait a year or more to make a rookie selection drops the value of future picks. However, the perceived lower value of future picks gives fantasy managers the option to acquire them in bunches and either make several first-round selections or sell them at a high profit when those draft picks become current-year selections. In true dynasty leagues, picks after Round 2 dramatically decrease in value.
How to Evaluate a Fantasy Football Dynasty Trade (Beyond the Numbers)
While our dynasty trade calculator is the best resource for buying and selling players or picks in the industry, knowing when to “fold” on a trade despite the calculator calling it “fair” is a skill all dynasty managers need. Below, see examples of when to walk away from a trade, even when the “numbers” add up.
- Rebuilding Team Receiving Older Assets - Many fantasy managers can tinker with the dynasty trade calculator to get the numbers to look “right,” but consider passing on a “fair deal” if your team is clearly rebuilding, and you’re set to receive a 29-year-old receiver on an expiring deal for your 22-year-old rookie that simply has not broken out yet.
- Losing Positional Needs - Team needs aren’t everything in dynasty leagues, but you can’t afford to trade one of your two starting quarterbacks away in Superflex leagues in most cases, even if the calculator is saying you’re winning a trade by a healthy margin. In Superflex formats, even the QB29, QB30, QB31, and QB32 have value and often outscore mid-level flex players. Don’t let the perception of a “bad” real-life quarterback distort your perception of their Superflex value.
- Selling Elite Player for Depth - Selling a top-end fantasy stud for depth is always tempting if you have a thin roster, but it almost always ends up aging poorly. Opportunity cost comes into play here. Don’t ship off the dynasty WR1 for a package of the dynasty WR17, RB20, and a second-round pick.
- Beware of Rookie Fever - One of the most exciting aspects of playing in dynasty leagues is drafting and acquiring shiny new rookies, but if you aren’t careful, you can find yourself shipping away established studs for high-risk gambles. Acquire rookies naturally and patiently – don’t throw your team away to do so.
When to Use the Dynasty Trade Calculator (And When Not To)
Our dynasty trade calculator is a great resource for your team management, but a trade analyzer is never the “end-all, be-all.” There’s a time and place for a trade calculator, and a time when it is not a perfect resource for buying and selling players. Relationships, reputation, and rapport with your league mates will usually go further in pulling off trades than screenshots of numbers on a trade calculator.

Fantasy Football Dynasty Trade Calculator FAQs
Is the RotoBaller Dynasty Trade Calculator free?
RotoBaller’s dynasty trade calculator is 100% free, including all of its customizable features. We do not put any league settings, values, or options behind a paywall. Run as many trades scenarios as you’d like, all for free!
Does the Calculator Support Superflex and TE Premium Leagues
Yes! Superflex leagues have become the most popular dynasty fantasy football format, and TE Premium scoring continues to gain steam, so these features are intentionally readily available and 100% free for users. Quarterbacks hold more value in 2QB/SF leagues, while tight ends see a value enhancement in TEP leagues.
How Often are Dynasty Player Values Updated?
RotoBaller’s dynasty fantasy football rankings, which power the trade calculator, are updated at least weekly. These expert consensus tiered rankings are updated more frequently during free agency, after the NFL Draft, and as major developments such as role changes, major injuries, and more come out
How Are Rookie Picks Valued?
2026 rookie picks are the most valuable selections. Although the 2026 rookie class isn’t the most exciting in recent or future years, the ability to immediately add potential impact players to your roster is key. 2027 dynasty rookie picks hold more value than 2028 picks, and so on.
What’s the Difference Between a Dynasty Trade Calculator and a Redraft Trade Calculator?
A dynasty trade calculator provides values for players in a three-to-four-year window, while redraft calculators only consider current-year values. For instance, Patrick Mahomes had very little redraft value after being drafted in 2017 to sit behind Alex Smith, but as a future starter with first-round draft capital in Andy Reid’s offense, he had immense value on a dynasty trade calculator.
Are Dynasty Trade Calculators Accurate?
While our dynasty trade calculator is powered by some of the best rankers in the business, whether or not the values listed and the verdict the trade calculator gives you are 100% useful and actionable depends on your league. The trade calculator cannot guarantee your league mate will accept a “fair trade,” and values can change significantly based on unforeseen developments such as off-the-field injuries, major injuries, trades, and unexpected draft picks.
Should I Trade for Rookie Picks or Proven Players in Dynasty?
Whether or not you should target valuable rookie picks or proven players depends on your build, league market price, and which rookies could potentially be available at the position in your rookie draft that correlates with your pick. Some dynasty managers opt to always set rookie picks and build the best “redraft-style” team possible every season, while others enjoy a slow build of stacking several impressive rookie classes together in hopes of long-term sustained success. Neither option is “wrong”, but always beware of getting too excited about rookies, which can lead you to trading away elite studs in hopes a rookie becomes the player you traded away.
