RotoBaller Writers Nominated For 13 FSWA Awards, For Second Consecutive Year

Read all about RotoBaller's 13 FSWA award nominations, featuring Ariel Cohen, Eric Samulski, Michael Florio, Elliott Baas, Keith Hernandez, Antonio Losada, Scott Engel, Byron Lindeque and Euan Leith.

For the second consecutive year, RotoBaller writers were named as finalists for a total of 13 writing awards to be presented by the Fantasy Sports Writers Association. This year's award winners, determined by an independent panel of judges, will be announced live on SiriusXM Fantasy Sports Radio on February 22.

Throughout the company’s history, RotoBaller has always maintained a commitment to several core tenets of excellence when choosing staffers and delivering content. Those qualities include high attention to detail in analysis, editorial execution, and the utmost dedication to delivering a comfortable, helpful and enjoyable reading experience that both informs and entertains.

Requiring such standards has made the site an industry staple and a highly recognized favorite for those seeking professional and compelling fantasy sports and betting content. Once again, the adherence to providing such exceptional content has resulted in tremendous recognition by the organization that annually salutes the best journalistic achievements in fantasy sports.

“I am so thrilled that our great team has been recognized for their outstanding work with an amazing amount of FSWA award nominations for the second consecutive year,” said RotoBaller co-founder Alex Roberts. ”Our industry has so many great talents and voices nowadays, which makes the number of nominations such a monumental achievement for the RotoBaller crew.”

RotoBaller’s Diamond Gallery

RotoBaller’s baseball writers garnered five FSWA finalist nominations for 2022. Ariel Cohen, one of the premier fantasy baseball analysts and statistical wizards in the space, already has an impressive trophy case. He was the 2019 FSWA Baseball Writer of the Year and won the 2020 FSWA Baseball Article of the Year Award. His Average Total Cost (ATC) Projections, featured on RotoBaller and praised across the industry, were ranked as the most accurate fantasy baseball projections of the 2019, 2020 and 2021 seasons.

Now Cohen is a finalist for three more FSWA awards, including Baseball Writer of the Year and Baseball Article of the Year again, and Best Baseball Series. Ariel’s masterful breakdown of how his ATC Projections identified player risk factors was the article that was nominated for Baseball Article of the Year. It was also the opener of a three-part series that was nominated for Best Baseball Series and a featured entry among his submissions for the Baseball Writer of the Year award.

Eric Samulski was also named as a finalist for three FSWA awards, including Best Baseball Article. Last year, Samulski won two FSWA awards, including Best Baseball Series and Best Football Series. A seasoned writer and former collegiate and semi-pro baseball player, he provides unique insights into the game. His convincing and in-depth look at why fantasy players should maintain faith in Alec Bohm was the 2022 article that earned him the Best Baseball Article award nomination.

Rounding out the FSWA Baseball Award finalists, Elliott Baas was nominated for Best Baseball Series. For the second consecutive year, Baas was nominated for his “Are You For Real” series on RotoBaller. The series took a weekly look at surprising pitcher performances, and provided a panoramic study on players to ensure that fantasy baseball competitors had every single data point needed to make informed roster decisions.

Writing Stars Of The Fantasy Gridiron

Eric Samulski is also one of two RotoBaller writers who was nominated for one of the most prestigious honors in the industry, the FSWA Fantasy Football Writer of the Year award. He also won the Best Football Series Award last year, and he is once again nominated for the award in 2022. His Defense Streaming and Starts series is one of the deepest regular breakdowns on the position you will find anywhere. His defensive analysis for the position for drafting and fantasy playoff purposes also propelled him to the Fantasy Football Writer of the Year nomination.

As his star has risen in recent years, Michael Florio has continued to be a featured writer and analyst at RotoBaller. A recognizable face as both a writer and TV broadcaster on the NFL Network, Florio is an authentic scribe with a true journalism background. His talents have led him to be nominated for the FSWA Fantasy Football Writer of the Year Award for the third consecutive year. One of his award submissions that reflected the high quality of his work was a preseason rundown of NFL offenses that could support multiple standout wide receivers.

More Recognition For Standout Writers

Last year, RotoBaller’s Keith Hernandez won the FSWA’s Player Notes Writer of the Year Award. He is a finalist for the award again this year, his fourth year in a row getting the honor. Keith's nomination is a testament to the continued dedication of RotoBaller to its player news desks, which have always been one of the prime essentials on the site and mobile app. Hernandez is RotoBaller’s Lead News Editor and Writer, and operates as a model of professionalism for one of the company’s most enduring and important areas of focus.

After being nominated for the Fantasy Football Writer of the Year and Best Football Series awards last year, Antonio Losada is an FSWA finalist again, this time as a DFS Writer of the Year candidate. Losada is a versatile fantasy and sports writer who stood out with his regular MMA and DFS features on RotoBaller, which landed him among the FSWA finalists for 2022.

For the second consecutive year and fourth time overall, FSWA Hall of Famer Scott Engel was nominated for the Racing Writer of the Year Award. His thorough Loop Data-driven race previews led him to his 13th career FSWA award nomination. Engel, a four-time FSWA award winner and industry legend, has helped the RotoBaller NASCAR coverage grow and expand since he joined the staff in 2019.

Bringing It Home

Byron Lindeque is a finalist for the FSWA’s Golf Writer of the Year award. His coaching and playing experience translate well into his writing, where he features the weekly "Breaking $100" series for PGA betting picks. He also contributes regular articles about DFS lineup picks, DFS value plays, round-by-round showdown slate articles, two weekly podcasts, and organizes the PGA news desk.

Euan Leith was nominated for the 2022 FSWA Soccer Writer of the Year Award. His World Cup and Premier League coverage also included a unique regular "RotoBaller Staff Roundtable" feature that helped him to get the award nomination. Euan has been a contributor at RotoBaller for several years, covering various other sports including NFL, NBA and MLB.

This was the second consecutive year in which RotoBaller had finalists in the Racing, Golf, and Soccer Writer of the Year categories, further demonstrating the depth and breadth of talent and deep commitment to top-notch coverage in all fantasy sports.

"We're so proud of the incredible writers at RotoBaller and happy to see them being recognized for all their hard work,” Roberts said. “It's an honor to work alongside some of the brightest minds in the industry and to be part of the amazing team at RotoBaller. These nominations represent a special moment for our nominees and the RotoBaller team as a whole."

Congrats once again to all our award winners and nominees. We look forward to an even more successful 2022, helping our readers and viewers to win big with the best fantasy coverage across all sports!
