Matthew Golden 2026 Outlook: A Vote Of Confidence Despite Disappointing Rookie Season
Green Bay Packers wide receiver Matthew Golden disappointed as a rookie: 29 catches for 361 yards and zero touchdowns in 14 games, despite being the team's first first-round wide receiver selection since 2002. Team brass isn't giving up on Golden just yet, however. The former Texas Longhorn has further entrenched himself among the main receiver rotation with the departures of target leader Romeo Doubs (New England) and Dontayvion Wicks (Philadelphia). That leaves Golden, Christian Watson, and Jayden Reed, who almost exclusively lines up in the slot, as the starting trio. While his talent remains a question, this is a golden (no pun intended) opportunity for the sophomore to make his impact. His speed (4.29 40-yard dash at the NFL Combine in 2025) makes him an enticing selection in fantasy drafts this summer. Golden is a high-upside WR5 in RotoBaller's wide receiver rankings.
