Shohei Ohtani to Make Next Start on July 30
Shohei Ohtani will make his next start as a pitcher on July 30 against the Cincinnati Reds, manager Dave Roberts said. The Dodgers are hoping to get a season-high four innings from the right-hander, who continues a gradual buildup in his return to pitching from 2023 Tommy John surgery. The flamethrowing Ohtani has recorded a brilliant 1.50 ERA with a 1.00 WHIP and 13:3 K:BB over six short starts and 12 innings. He totaled three frames in each of his previous two outings. As a hitter, Ohtani has continued to dazzle. The 31-year-old is on a five-game home run streak, giving him an NL-high 37 over 465 plate appearances. Ohtani is also slashing a tremendous .273/.377/.620 with 70 RBI, a league-leading 97 runs scored, and 13 stolen bases.
