Hector Rodriguez Earns Southern League Player of the Week Honors
Hector Rodriguez earned Southern League Player of the Week honors for his performance last week at Double-A Chattanooga. The Reds' 11th-ranked prospect went 17-for-30 (.567) with three doubles, a triple, three home runs, six RBI, 13 runs scored, and a 3:3 BB:K in seven games played. He's hit safely in 15 of his last 17 games, and owns a .316/.378/.514 slash line with 10 home runs and six steals through 65 games for the Lookouts. The 21-year-old puts the bat on the ball very well, leading to a career .296 AVG in the minors and lowering his strikeout rate all the way down to 12.7 percent this season. The left-hand hitting Dominican should get a shot at Triple-A before long, and should be in the big leagues at some point next season, along with all the tools that could make him fantasy relevant.
