Browns Acquire Tytus Howard From Texans
The Cleveland Browns acquired right tackle Tytus Howard from the Houston Texans on Monday in exchange for a fifth-round pick, sources told Dianna Russini of The Athletic. The 29-year-old started 16 games in each of the last two seasons for Houston and was set to enter the final year of his deal in 2026. The Browns and Howard have agreed on a new three-year, $63 million contract extension. Cleveland entered the offseason needing some serious upgrades on their offensive line. Howard will give them stability at the right tackle position with Jack Conklin likely to be cut this offseason. Howard, a former first-rounder, has been inconsistent as a run-blocker, but he should be an improvement for the Browns as far as pass protection goes. The Alabama State alumni can also shift inside to guard, if needed.
