Billy Edwards Jr. Named North Carolina's Starting Quarterback
North Carolina has named Wisconsin transfer Billy Edwards Jr. its starting quarterback for the Week 1 matchup against TCU in Dublin, Ireland, according to On3. Edwards has been battling transfer Miles O'Neill and highly-rated freshman Travis Burgess for the QB1 role to replace Gio Lopez, but the competition is now over. Edwards has played in 28 games over the last four seasons with Maryland and Wisconsin, completing 62.1% of his passes for 3,435 yards, 19 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions. He played in just two games last season for the Badgers before going out with an injury. North Carolina kicks off the season in Week 0 on Saturday, August 29.
