Milwaukee Brewers first baseman Rhys Hoskins (thumb) was placed on the 10-day injured list with a sprained left thumb, per a team announcement. Hoskins injured the thumb in a collision at first base on Saturday and has since been diagnosed with a grade two sprain, so this announcement comes as no surprise. Hoskins has been a steady contributor for Milwaukee this season, slashing .242/,340/.428 with 12 home runs and 42 RBI in 318 plate appearances. Due to the severity of the sprain, this injury figures to keep him out of action for a considerable stretch of time. Mid-season trade acquisition Andrew Vaughn was called up as the corresponding move, and Vaughn looks to have an extended runway at first base for the Brewers in Hoskins' absence.--Will Brady
