Colt Keith Absent on Friday
Colt Keith (back) is not in the team's starting lineup on Friday against the visiting Atlanta Braves at Comerica Park. Keith was pulled from Thursday's contest early with a back injury and went for testing. Results of his MRI exam aren't back yet, so the 24-year-old is day-to-day. However, this is worth watching, as his back injury could keep him out for the rest of September and potentially into the playoffs. With Keith out on Friday, Zach McKinstry is starting at third base and is hitting eighth against Braves right-hander Bryce Elder. Javier Baez is at short and is in the seven-hole. If Keith misses more time, both McKinstry and Baez should play regularly on the left side of Detroit's infield. In his second MLB season in 2025, Keith has hit .256 (106-for-414) with 13 home runs, 45 RBI, and 65 runs scored in 137 games.
