Washington Nationals left-hander Mitchell Parker (knee) has been cleared to make his next start on Tuesday against the division-rival Atlanta Braves at Nationals Park. Parker was forced to leave his last start early against the Braves last Wednesday after he was hit by a comebacker in his left knee in the fifth inning. However, the 25-year-old southpaw threw his normal between-starts bullpen session on Friday and has been cleared to make his next start this week. Before he left last Wednesday's contest, Parker had allowed four earned runs on four hits while walking two and striking out a season-high-tying six batters in 4 2/3 innings. He shouldn't have any restrictions in his rematch against the Braves on Tuesday, but he'll be a shaky fantasy streamer after having allowed at least four earned runs in each of his last four outings, dating back to April 27.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBallerSource: MLB.com

According to Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area, San Francisco Giants starting pitcher Justin Verlander was limited by "something physically" in Sunday's 3-2 win against the Athletics. The veteran hurler could only get through four innings in the victory, yielding three hits and two earned runs, while striking out one and walking five. Verlander noted that he was dealing with a physical issue that the team was aware of before the outing. "I was able to work through and didn't feel like I was going to put myself at risk for injury, but clearly it was affecting my velocity and mechanics." Encouragingly, he also stated that he's "pretty optimistic" about being able to make his next start this weekend. Still, his velocity was down a few ticks, and he declined to further elaborate on the affected body part. It's something to monitor, as shoulder and neck issues hindered him in 2024.--Alex CiullaSource: Alex Pavlovic

PGH Baseball Now's John Perrotto reports that Pittsburgh Pirates right-hander Jared Jones (elbow) is likely to need Tommy John surgery, which means he won't pitch at all this season, according to two baseball sources. Doctors told Jones that he will need the procedure and "it's all but a done deal," according to the sources. The 23-year-old will miss the rest of the year and likely all of next year as well if he has the surgery. He's currently scheduled to meet with orthopedist Keith Meister in Arlington, Texas, on Tuesday. Jones pitched 12 innings in four Grapefruit League games in spring training before being shut down with a UCL strain in his right elbow. He started playing catch in late April in hopes of returning around mid-July, but he recently suffered a setback and is now likely to have TJ surgery. Fantasy managers in single-year formats should start looking for replacements.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBallerSource: PGH Baseball Now - John Perrotto

Braves Today's Lindsay Crosby speculates that the new best-case scenario for Atlanta Braves outfielder Ronald Acuna Jr. (knee) is to play nine innings in the outfield on his minor-league rehab assignment with Triple-A Gwinnett on Tuesday and Wednesday and then let doctors check him out on Thursday before the team activates him for Friday's series opener against the San Diego Padres at home. Per a source, Acuna is expected to continue his rehab assignment on Tuesday and will not be activated for the series opener against the division-rival Washington Nationals on Tuesday. Another option is to have him spend a week playing every day between designated hitter and the outfield and then take him to Philadelphia for the start of a series against the rival Phillies next Tuesday, May 27. Either way, the 27-year-old former MVP is getting close to his 2025 MLB debut.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBallerSource: Braves Today - Lindsay Crosby

Detroit Tigers reliever Will Vest pitched a clean ninth inning to shut the door on the Toronto Blue Jays in his team's 3-2 win on Sunday. The Houston native struck out one and fired 16 of 24 pitches for strikes to earn his fifth save of the season. It wasn't easy for him, as he battled through three tough six-plus-pitch at-bats and had to work around a fielding error by infielder Andy Ibanez. Still, it was a nice rebound for him after notching a blown save on Saturday, and he has now gone seven straight appearances without allowing an earned run. The scoreless stretch has lowered his ERA to a tidy 1.66 and his WHIP to 1.02, while compiling a 25:7 K:BB ratio through 21 2/3 innings. He's tied for the Tigers' lead in saves with teammate Tommy Kahnle, and the two should continue to split chances late in games.--Alex CiullaSource: ESPN

Baltimore Orioles starting pitcher Zach Eflin allowed 10 hits and eight earned runs over 5 1/3 innings in Sunday's 10-4 loss to the Washington Nationals. He struck out four, walked none, and hit one batter, falling to 3-2 in five starts this season. The 31-year-old easily had his worst outing of the year, and it started right away when he let up a CJ Abrams home run to lead off the game. He'd escape the frame with no further damage, but yielded three more long balls and six total runs one inning later (including one more to Abrams) before he'd finally settle in. It's one to forget for Eflin, who will carry a bloated 5.08 ERA and 1.13 WHIP across 28 1/3 innings (17:3 K:BB) into his next appearance, which should come later this week against the Boston Red Sox.--Alex CiullaSource: ESPN

Boston Red Sox right-hander Brayan Bello (2-1) did not have his best stuff on Sunday afternoon. After a decent start to his 2025 campaign, which was delayed by a shoulder injury, he had only allowed six earned runs over 27 innings pitched. On Sunday, he allowed seven earned runs against the Atlanta Braves in four ⅓ innings. What is more concerning is that Bello allowed 10 hits and walked five batters, allowing 15 total baserunners on the afternoon. Bello walked away with the loss in this contest and saw his ERA rise to 4.02. Bello will try to get back on track against the struggling Baltimore Orioles on Friday.--Nicho Roessler - RotoBallerSource: ESPN

Atlanta Braves right-hander Spencer Strider (hamstring) has been activated from the injured list and is tentatively slated to start on Tuesday against the Washington Nationals. Strider spent the 2024-2025 off-season recovering from his elbow injury and, after returning on April 16, strained his right hamstring while playing catch in preparation for his scheduled start against the St. Louis Cardinals on April 21. During his outing against the Toronto Blue Jays on April 16, he went five innings, allowed two earned runs, one walk, and five strikeouts in a no-decision against the Toronto Blue Jays. Strider may be on a pitch count on Tuesday, but fantasy managers who have been stashing him on the IL for most of the season should be ecstatic to plug him back into their lineups.--Nicho Roessler - RotoBallerSource: Atlanta Braves

New York Yankees left-hander continued his 2025 dominance on Sunday evening against the New York Mets. Although he walked away with a no-decision, he threw six innings, allowed two earned runs, three hits, two walks, and tallied eight strikeouts. Fried has made ten starts on the season and has yet to allow more than two earned runs in any of his starts. He now owns a 1.29 ERA in 62 ⅔ innings pitched, a 23.9 strikeout percentage, and has firmly positioned himself to be in the running for the 2025 AL Cy Young Award winner, something the 31-year-old has not achieved in his career. Next up for Fried is an outing in Coors Field against the Colorado Rockies on Saturday.--Nicho Roessler - RotoBallerSource: ESPN

Athletics' left-hander Jeffrey Springs was excellent on Sunday against the San Francisco Giants, firing 84 pitches over 6 ⅔ innings, allowing two hits, one earned run, and five strikeouts as he walked away with the no-decision as the Athletics bullpen blew the lead in the bottom of the eight inning to lost 3-2. That is back-to-back quality starts for Springs. He had another one against the Los Angeles Dodgers earlier in the week on Tuesday. The productive Week 7 lowered Springs' ERA to 3.91 on the season, and he has a 41:21 K:BB ratio in 53 innings pitched. Next up for Springs is a tough outing at home against the Philadelphia Phillies. Fantasy managers may want to consider sitting him, as he owns a 6.30 ERA at home and a 2.45 ERA on the road as the Athletics play at their interim field, Sutter Health Park.--Nicho Roessler - RotoBallerSource: ESPN

Boston Red Sox designated hitter Rafael Devers went 2-for-4 with a grand slam, a double, a run scored, and four RBI in Sunday's 10-4 loss to the Atlanta Braves. After hitting a walk-off home run on Saturday, Devers came up with the bases loaded in the third inning with nobody out, and deposited a ball into the center field bleachers. The home run was his ninth of the season as he is on fire lately, slashing .348/.444/.696 over his last seven days. He also raised his slash line to .289/.404/.517 for the season and has quickly made fantasy managers forget about his slow start to his 2025 campaign. Devers is on pace to hit 30-plus home runs and drive in 100-plus RBI and remains a must-start in all formats. Next up for Devers and the Red Sox is a three-game series at home against the New York Mets.--Nicho Roessler - RotoBallerSource: ESPN

Texas Rangers starting pitcher Jack Leiter tossed seven innings of three-run ball against the Houston Astros on Sunday afternoon. Leiter carried a no-hitter into the seventh inning. However, Astros catcher Yainer Diaz hit a solo shot to end the bid. Then in the eighth, Leiter allowed two singles to Jake Meyers and Cam Smith before exiting the game. Relief pitcher Robert Garcia would then allow a three-run shot to Isaac Paredes, which raised Leiter's ERA. The former second overall pick has shown flashes of dominance this season but has also had several disappointing showings. He has allowed more than four runs twice and allowed three or more walks in three starts. Through 36 total innings, the right-hander carries a 4.25 ERA with a 1.11 WHIP. He will look to continue this strong run against the White Sox in his next outing.--Andy Smith - RotoBallerSource: MLB.com

Colorado Rockies right-handed pitching prospect Chase Dollander struck out six batters in his start against the Arizona Diamondbacks on Sunday afternoon. The young right-hander logged four 2/3 innings of one-run ball. He allowed three hits and two free passes. His lone blemish came in the opening frame on a solo shot by Arizona second baseman Ketel Marte. However, since allowing six runs to the Detroit Tigers on May 7, the former first-round pick has begun to turn the corner. In his last two starts, Dollander has tossed 10 2/3 innings with a 2.53 ERA and a strong 0.84 WHIP. Over this stretch, he has tallied 13 punchouts and allowed just five walks. Fantasy managers in deeper 15+ team formats should continue to stash Dollander on their bench. Even though he has progressed well, he should only be started in deeper NL-only formats in his next outing, against the New York Yankees at Coors Field.--Andy Smith - RotoBallerSource: MLB.com
