Kemp Alderman Boasts Southern League Player of the Week Honors
Kemp Alderman earned Southern League Player of the Week honors for his performance at Double-A Pensacola from July 28 through August 3, the third time this season that the Marlins' eighth-ranked prospect has garnered the award. The former second-round draft pick went 9-for-22 (.409) with two doubles, two home runs, eight RBI, three runs scored, a stolen base, and a 3:5 BB:K in six games for the Blue Wahoos. The 22-year-old is slashing .287/.336/.452 on the year, with 12 home runs and 17 steals in 88 games. He should get some at-bats at Triple-A by the time the season is over, and could be knocking on the door to the majors next season. His power potential is what makes him intriguing for fantasy, but the newfound base-stealing acumen (his previous high was five) adds another dimension to his appeal.
