Jordan Raanan, NFL Nation reporter for ESPN who covers the New York Giants, reported that Jameis Winston may be the third-string quarterback, but he didn't want to go anywhere at the trade deadline. The plan is for him to be the New York Giants' backup to Jaxson Dart next season. Winston has been floated as a potential trade target for teams in need of a starting quarterback, given his long-standing pedigree and NFL tenure, starting in 87 total games throughout his career. However, Winston is content in New York and wants to stay with them next season to back up young rookie star Jaxson Dart. This would be a move that would be advantageous for the Giants, considering we have seen second-year (Sophomore Slumps) from quarterbacks in the past. Think CJ Stroud of the Houston Texans in 2024. While it's all speculation, it will give the Giants peace of mind knowing their backup quarterback can still sling the ball. Winston has thrown for 24,225 yards, 154 passing touchdowns, and 111 interceptions.--Nicho Roessler
