Andre Pallante Blown up by Royals for Seven Runs
Andre Pallante allowed seven hits and seven earned runs over 4 1/3 innings, but did not factor into Tuesday's 10-7 loss to the Kansas City Royals. He struck out two and fired 50-of-71 pitches for strikes. The Royals got on the board early against the former fourth-round pick, with a Bobby Witt Jr. two-run blast coming within Pallante's first five pitches of the game. He'd settle in and retire the next 12 batters he faced, but Kansas City got to him again in the fifth when they scored another six runs -- all but one of which was registered to him. It's an outing to forget for the 26-year-old, who now sports an unappealing 4.91 ERA and 1.38 WHIP across his first 12 starts (66 innings). Pallante is one of the best ground-ball pitchers in the league, but he doesn't miss many bats. That makes him prone to outings like this.
