Cubs Reluctant to Part With Jefferson Rojas
Jefferson Rojas, who was recently promoted to Double-A Knoxville, in a deal this summer for a rental player, according to The Athletic's Patrick Mooney and Sahadev Sharma. Rojas was already in his second season at High-A South Bend at just 20 years old and had an .871 OPS with 11 home runs, 44 RBI, 50 runs scored and 14 stolen bases in 67 games to earn himself a promotion. He has mostly played shortstop in the minors, but Rojas is more likely to play third or second base in the long term at the next level. The Cubs are going to need to be open-minded about trading a high-level prospect like Rojas this summer if it means acquiring a player who can help the Cubs compete for a World Series in 2025 and beyond. Rojas is considered the team's No. 3 prospect, per MLB Pipeline, and is expected to debut in the majors next season.
