Manuel Rodriguez to Undergo Elbow Surgery
Manuel Rodriguez (forearm/elbow) will have season-ending elbow surgery to repair his flexor tendon on Aug. 8, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports. Dr. Keith Meister will evaluate Rodriguez's UCL during the procedure "to determine if any additional intervention is necessary," per Topkin. It's unclear whether Rodriguez will be ready to return sometime in 2026. The Rays originally placed Rodriguez on the injured list with a forearm strain on June 10. He felt soreness in his elbow while recovering from that injury in the minors, leading the Rays to pull him off his rehab assignment on July 12. He's now out for the foreseeable future, which is a huge blow to the Rays' bullpen. Rodriguez put up a superb 2.08 ERA with a 1.05 WHIP, 25:6 K:BB, and 11 holds in 30 1/3 innings this season.
