Josue Briceno Triples, Scores a Run in All-Star Futures Game
Josue Briceno went 1-for-3 with a triple and a run scored for the American League team during the All-Star Futures Game, in which the National League squad ended up winning 4-2. In fact, Briceno's triple was one of only three hits that the AL team was able to muster in the contest. The Tigers' fourth-ranked prospect has hit well all season, but a pair of four-hit games in late May and early June that included four home runs seemed to be the springboard to a stretch of hot hitting. Over his last 12 games, the 20-year-old has gone 18-for-46 (.391), and for the season, he is slashing .296/.417/.592 with 15 home runs, 58 RBI, 41 runs scored, and his walk rate (16.1 percent) nearly mirrors his strikeout rate (16.5 percent). The 6-foot-4 slugger recently earned a promotion to Double-A Erie and will likely finish the season there, however, he could be knocking on the door to the majors later next year, bringing with him some big power and tools that could make him an impactful fantasy asset.
