Josue Briceno Finding His Footing at Double-A
Josue Briceno has continued to turn the corner at Double-A. On Thursday evening, the backstop hit his third home run over his last five contests. During his last six games, Briceno has only gone hitless once and held a solid .292/.308/.708 slash line over this stretch. However, during his first 13 games at Double-A Erie, the No. 51-ranked prospect in on MLB.com posted a low .191/.278/.234 line with just two doubles and a 14:6 K:BB. Earlier in the season, the 20-year-old logged 51 games at High-A West Michigan and was very productive, posting a .296/.422/.602 line with an impressive 1.024 OPS. He was eventually promoted to Double-A alongside top prospects Max Clark and Kevin McGonigle. The backstop could push for an early promotion to Triple-A next summer if he can continue to turn the corner.
