Clayton Kershaw Retires Both Batters In ASG Appearance
Clayton Kershaw's 11th All-Star Game appearance, which could be his last, was a memorable one in Tuesday's Mid-Summer Classic. The 37-year-old, who was added to the National League team roster as a legend pick, relieved Paul Skenes and started the second inning. Kershaw faced his two batters mic'd up, getting a loud line-out from Cal Raleigh on a sliding Kyle Tucker catch and then freezing Vladimir Guerrero Jr. for a strikeout. He was then relieved by National League and Dodgers manager Dave Roberts, who let Kershaw keep the baseball. Kershaw may be near the end of his storied career, in which he has accumulated 216 wins with a 2.52 ERA, a 1.01 WHIP, a 27.2% strikeout rate, and 3,003 strikeouts. His numbers in 2025 don't quite reflect his career numbers, but he has still provided a serviceable 4-1 record with a 3.38 ERA, a 1.24 WHIP, and a 16.9% strikeout rate in 10 starts and 50 2/3 innings.
