C.J. Culpepper Dominant Since Returning from Injured List
C.J. Culpepper has been quite impressive since returning from the 60-day IL at Double-A Wichita. Culpepper was sidelined for the majority of the first half due to an undisclosed injury. He had a short rehab assignment with Low-A and High-A and was officially returned to Double-A on June 14. Through his first five starts since returning (13 2/3 innings), the right-hander has posted a near-perfect 0.66 ERA with a 1.10 WHIP. During this stretch, Culpepper has struck out 15 hitters and allowed only five walks. Although he has only logged four innings in one outing, he has shown high upside and appears to have recovered from his injury. Last season, the No. 10-ranked prospect in the system logged 21 innings with Double-A to the tune of a 4.71 ERA. Given the time he missed, he will likely spend the entire second half with Double-A.
