Elly De La Cruz Goes Yard in Fourth Straight Game
Elly De La Cruz put together a spectacular Sunday performance in an 8-4 victory over the Detroit Tigers. De La Cruz bashed his 16th homer to highlight a 3-for-5 afternoon with three RBI and two additional runs scored. The 23-year-old has now homered in four consecutive games. Overall, De La Cruz has batted a robust .273/.352/.498 with 50 RBI, 57 runs, and 20 steals in 310 plate appearances. He's well on his way to surpassing the career-high HR (25) and RBI (76) totals that he registered a season ago. De La Cruz will get back to work Tuesday against Minnesota Twins right-hander David Festa.Source: ESPN
Cincinnati Reds shortstop Ian Happ Hits Walk-Off Single on Sunday
Ian Happ hit a walk-off single in a 3-2 defeat of the Pittsburgh Pirates on Sunday. Happ, whose 10th-inning knock came against Pirates closer David Bednar, finished the afternoon 1-for-4 with a walk and a strikeout. This has been an unspectacular season for Happ, who's batting .249/.340/.385 with seven homers, 31 RBI, 44 runs, and four steals in 297 plate appearances. He racked up 20-plus homers, 80-plus RBI, and double-digit steals in each of the previous two seasons. Happ has a lot of catching up to do over the Cubs' final 90 games in order to approach those numbers this year. He'll face Milwaukee Brewers right-hander Chad Patrick on Tuesday.Source: ESPN
Chicago Cubs outfielder Nick Pivetta Sharp in Victory
Nick Pivetta (7-2) collected his seventh win of the season Sunday in an 8-2 decision against the Arizona Diamondbacks. Pivetta surrendered just two runs on two hits and tallied nine strikeouts against one walk over seven innings. It was a much-needed return to form for Pivetta, who combined to allow nine earned runs over 10 innings in his previous two outings. The 32-year-old is now up to seven quality starts this season with a 3.40 ERA and 88:22 K:BB through 79 1/3 innings. Pivetta is scheduled to get the ball against the Kansas City Royals on Friday.Source: ESPN
San Diego Padres right-hander Will Vest Dealing With Finger Injury
Will Vest (finger) exited early in an 8-4 loss to the Cincinnati Reds on Sunday with a finger injury. Afterward, manager A.J. Hinch told Evan Woodbery of MLive.com that "(Vest) had this feeling in his pinky. It was bothering him, so we took him out. We'll get him evaluated, and he'll run through the whole battery of tests. I have no idea what it is." Vest suffered his first loss and his third blown save of the season after allowing three unearned runs on three hits in two-thirds of an inning. The right-hander left after uncorking a wild pitch. Overall, the 30-year-old has done great work this season with a 1.80 ERA, 37:9 K:BB, and 12 saves over 35 frames. If Vest requires a stint on the 15-day injured list, it should lead to more save opportunities for righty Tommy Kahnle.Source: Evan Woodbery - MLive.com
Detroit Tigers reliever Jackson Merrill Placed on Seven-Day Concussion Injured List
Jackson Merrill (head) on the seven-day concussion injured list. The team selected the contract of infielder/outfielder Trenton Brooks from Triple-A El Paso in a corresponding move. Merrill had to leave the Padres' game early on Saturday after he was shaken up on a stolen base attempt. Considering the unpredictable nature of concussions, it's unclear how much time Merrill will miss. It's the second IL placement of the season for the 22-year-old standout, who missed most of April and a few days in May with a hamstring strain. When healthy, Merrill has hit a terrific .304/.349/.474 with five home runs and 26 RBI in 186 plate appearances. He's a big loss for the Padres and fantasy managers alike.Source: San Diego Padres
The San Diego Padres announced that they have placed outfielder J.J. McCarthy Looking "a Lot Stronger"
J.J. McCarthy (knee) looked "a lot stronger" in the ninth day of offseason workouts compared to the beginning. "They like the way he's throwing the ball," said Fowler. "They feel very comfortable with where he's at going into training camp." The 22-year-old suffered a meniscus tear last summer, preventing him from suiting up for his rookie campaign. Fortunately, it appears that the injury is behind him. With receivers Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison at McCarthy's disposal, he should have some quality showings this season. Naturally, there could be some growing pains. Still, the young signal-caller definitely has a higher ceiling than most around his age, making him a perfect addition to any dynasty roster. His redraft outlook might also improve, assuming he continues to impress in the next few months.Source: Jeremy Fowler
According to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler, Minnesota Vikings quarterback Shohei Ohtani Will Be Dodgers' Starting Pitcher Monday
Shohei Ohtani (elbow) is finally returning to a major league mound. The Dodgers announced that he will serve as their starting pitcher Monday against the San Diego Padres. Manager Dave Roberts indicated Sunday that Ohtani will work as an opener, per Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic. It'll be Ohtani's first action as a pitcher since August 2023. He underwent Tommy John surgery that September and has been on the mend since. The two-way superstar has continued to thrive as a hitter, even winning his third MVP award last year, and could now help the Dodgers' injury-ravaged pitching staff. Ohtani fared great on the mound with a 3.01 ERA, 11.36 K/9, and 3.23 BB/9 in 481 2/3 innings as a member of the Los Angeles Angels from 2018-23. However, after almost two full years away from pitching, the Dodgers will surely ease him back into the role.Source: Los Angeles Dodgers
Los Angeles Dodgers right-hander Brayan Bello Pitches Seven Scoreless Innings
Brayan Bello pitched seven shutout innings while striking out eight in a 2-0 win over the Yankees. He allowed three hits and three walks while improving his record to 3-1. This was the right-hander's third straight quality start, and he has only allowed more than three runs in a start once all season. The main problem has been efficiency, as Bello had a five-start stretch from May 8 to May 28 where he failed to complete five full frames. He'll carry a 3.49 ERA into his next start against the Giants.Source: MLB.com
Boston Red Sox starting pitcher Brooks Lee Homers in Three-Hit Game
Brooks Lee went 3-for-4 with a home run and three RBI in Sunday's 2-1 loss to the Astros. This was his second straight game with a home run and his 15th straight game with at least one hit. The 15-game hitting streak is the longest active in the majors, and he's now slashing .267/.303/.405 with seven home runs, 25 RBI, and 18 runs in 55 games. The 24-year-old has become one of Minnesota's most consistent batters, and he is a solid middle or corner infield option for deep fantasy leagues with both second base and third base eligibility.Source: MLB.com
Minnesota Twins third baseman Noah Cameron Throws Five Shutout Innings
Noah Cameron struck out seven over five shutout innings in a 3-2 loss to the Athletics. He allowed four hits and one walk. This was a nice bounce-back outing after giving up six runs in his last time out against the Yankees. Besides that one bad start, Cameron has allowed one run or less in all six of his other starts. The 25-year-old has been excellent to begin his big league career, posting a 1.91 ERA and .90 WHIP with 32 strikeouts in 42 ⅓ innings. He'll look to keep things going in his next start, which is currently scheduled to be against the Padres.Source: MLB.com
Kansas City Royals starting pitcher Emerson Hancock Tosses Seven Shutout Innings
Emerson Hancock shut out the Guardians over seven innings in a 6-0 win on Sunday. He allowed two hits and a walk and struck out four. This was his sixth straight start of allowing three or fewer runs, and this was the longest of the bunch. Only one other start in that span was at least six innings in length. The 26-year-old's lack of efficiency has led to a 4.48 ERA and 1.38 WHIP in 2025, with only 45 strikeouts and 21 walks through 62 ⅓ innings. He'll look to build on this momentum in his next start, which is lined up to be a tough matchup against the Cubs.Source: MLB.com
Seattle Mariners starting pitcher Nick Castellanos Blasts Grand Slam
Nick Castellanos hit a grand slam in Sunday's 11-4 win against the Blue Jays. It was his seventh home run of the season and his first since June 4th. The 33-year-old is now slashing .279/.322/.428 with seven home runs, 36 RBI, and 31 runs this season. The slugger's home run pace has been down so far, but if he maintains his current batting average, it would be the best he's done in that regard since he hit .309 in 2021. The veteran's strikeout rate has declined from 21.1% last season to 19.5% this season, which are both huge improvements over the 27.6% mark he posted in 2023. Castellanos is still a solid low-end starting outfielder for fantasy who will provide a good amount of counting stats.Source: MLB.com
Philadelphia Phillies outfielder Fernando Tatis Jr. Collects Four Hits in Win
Fernando Tatis Jr. was a tough out at the plate during Sunday's game against the Arizona Diamondbacks. Tatis struck out during his first at-bat, but the D-Backs were unable to get him out again. Tatis crushed the ball all over the park as he went 4-for-5 with two doubles, one RBI, one stolen base, and scored three runs in the victory. The 26-year-old has been unbelievable during this series against the Diamondbacks. He registered eight hits, three doubles, three RBI, and a stolen base across three games. It appears that Tatis has put that cold streak at the plate behind him.Source: mlb.com
San Diego Padres outfielder Casey Schmitt Exits Early on Sunday
Casey Schmitt (foot) was removed early during Sunday's game against the Los Angeles Dodgers. Schmitt fouled a ball off his foot in the top of the second inning. He attempted to play through the issue before being pulled out in the bottom of the third. The assumption is that he'll undergo X-rays to determine the severity of the issue. For now, fantasy managers should consider Schmitt as day-to-day until the testing is back. Tyler Fitzgerald took over at third base and could see more time over there going forward.Source: Alex Pavlovic
San Francisco Giants third baseman Roki Sasaki Shut Down From Throwing
Roki Sasaki (shoulder) has stopped his throwing program for a few days, according to manager Dave Roberts. The 23-year-old resumed throwing the baseball last week, but he isn't comfortable throwing with any intensity yet. Sasaki has been sidelined since the middle of May due to a right shoulder impingement. The expectation is that Sasaki will still need a few rehab starts before rejoining the Dodgers rotation. That being said, fantasy managers might not see Sasaki until after the All-Star break. Hopefully, Sasaki will get back to throwing by the end of the week.Source: Fabian Ardaya
Los Angeles Dodgers rookie starting pitcher Garrett Wilson Receives New Contract Offer
Garrett Wilson. Fowler added that both sides "have exchanged some numbers," so it's unknown how close the wideout actually is to agreeing to a new deal. The 24-year-old is coming off the best season of his career, catching 101 passes for 1,104 yards and seven touchdowns. It's a new era in New York, with the team hiring former Detroit Lions defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn to serve as the head coach. The team also parted ways with quarterback Aaron Rodgers, replacing him with Justin Fields. It's safe to say the Jets will need Wilson happy and motivated if the club hopes to return to the playoff conversation. While there are some questions about Wilson's fantasy outlook with a new signal-caller and head coach, he should continue to be a consistent performer for fantasy managers.Source: Jeremy Fowler
According to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler, the New York Jets have made a contract offer to wide receiver Jordan Hicks Headed to Boston
Jordan Hicks (toe) is part of a massive trade with the Boston Red Sox on Sunday. Hicks is headed to Boston along with Kyle Harrison, James Tibbs, and Jose Bello in exchange for slugger Rafael Devers. Hicks was recently placed on the 15-day injured list with right toe inflammation. Before that, Hicks posted a 6.47 ERA, 1.54 WHIP, with 43 strikeouts over 48.2 innings of work. The Hicks experiment didn't work out in San Francisco. They signed him to a four-year deal in 2024, so the Red Sox will be on the hook through 2027. He has a good track record and has worked as both a starter and reliever in his career. We'll see how the Red Sox decide to use him once he's healthy enough to pitch again.Source: Robert Murray
San Francisco Giants starting pitcher Kyle Harrison Traded to Red Sox
Kyle Harrison was traded to the Boston Red Sox in a massive trade on Sunday. Harrison was scheduled to take the mound for the Giants on Sunday night. Instead, Harrison will be headed to Boston along with Jordan Hicks, James Tibbs, and Jose Bello. In exchange, the Giants will receive slugger Rafael Devers from Boston. Harrison was rumored to be the odd man out once Justin Verlander (pectoral) returned to the rotation. Now, he'll get a chance to stick in a big league rotation with the Red Sox. Harrison has posted a 4.56 ERA, 1.27 WHIP, with 25 strikeouts in 23.2 innings with the Giants this season. The southpaw has worked as both a starter and reliever, so he should be an immediate help in Boston.Source: Robert Murray
San Francisco Giants starting pitcher Travis Kelce Slims Down During the Offseason
Travis Kelce will "debut a bit of a slimmer look" at training camp. The multi-time All-Pro wasn't happy with his conditioning last season, so he lost 25 pounds in an attempt to improve his productivity. He is coming off one of his worst years since entering the National Football League in 2013, finishing the 2024 campaign with 97 receptions while amassing career-lows in yards (823) and touchdowns (three). The Chiefs are stacked on the offensive side of the ball. However, there is no denying the chemistry between Kelce and quarterback Patrick Mahomes. Only time will tell if the weight loss will help Kelce get back on track, although it appears his stock is starting to trend up heading toward training camp.Source: Jeremy Fowler
According to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler, Kansas City Chiefs tight end Trey Hendrickson, Bengals Restart Contract Discussions
Source: Jeremy Fowler
According to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler, the Bengals and defensive end Trey Hendrickson have resumed discussions surrounding a new contract. The 30-year-old has been a force on the defensive side of the ball, amassing 35 sacks in the last two seasons combined. As expected, he wants a new deal. Although things at least appeared promising when talks between both sides began, the situation went south quickly, with Hendrickson recently skipping mandatory minicamp. The Bengals have one of the best offenses in the National Football League. However, it's a different story as it pertains to the team's defense. Rookie Shemar Stewart has also been absent while awaiting a contract to his liking, which indirectly has increased the urgency to get a new deal done for Hendrickson. With that in mind, there is renewed hope that negotiations are heading in a positive direction. On the other hand, there is still plenty of time for that to change.Nationals Promoting Brady House to Major Leagues
Brady House to the major leagues. House has been one of the most productive hitters at the Triple-A level this season. Through 65 games with Triple-A Rochester, the No. 3-ranked prospect in the system has posted a stellar .304/.353/.519 line with 15 doubles, 13 home runs, and a 75:20 K:BB. Last summer, House struggled during his first taste of Triple-A as he posted a modest .250/.280/.375 with just 10 doubles and six long balls through his first 54 games at the top level of the minor leagues. Earlier on Sunday, the Nationals optioned third baseman Jose Tena to Triple-A, which suggests House should be given most of the opportunities at third base. Given his steady progression and production at Triple-A this season, House is worth adding in all standard formats.Source: Andrew Golden
The Washington Nationals are promoting third base prospect Rafael Devers Traded to San Francisco

Will Vest Exits Early on Sunday
Will Vest (undisclosed) was forced to make an early exit during Sunday's game against the Cincinnati Reds. Vest exited with the trainer after throwing a wild pitch during the eighth inning. It's unclear what exactly is wrong, but there should be more information on his status shortly. This could be a tough blow to the Tigers bullpen considering Vest has been the primary closer lately. If he misses time, Tommy Kahnle could see more work in the ninth inning. Vest recorded two outs, allowing three hits and striking out one batter before being lifted for right-hander Brenan Hanifee.Source: Evan Woodbery
Detroit Tigers relief pitcher Anthony DeSclafani Joining Diamondbacks
Anthony DeSclafani to a one-year deal on Sunday. DeSclafani recently opted out of his deal with the New York Yankees earlier in the week. The 35-year-old has quickly found a new home after making five starts in Triple-A with the Yankees organization. DeSclafani last pitched in the MLB in 2023 with the San Francisco Giants. He posted a 4.88 ERA, 1.25 WHIP, and 79/20 K/BB ratio across 19 appearances (18 starts) with the Giants in 2023. DeSclafani has a 4.20 ERA across 180 big league outings in his nine-year career. It's unlikely that DeSclafani will be a big difference maker, but at worst he's decent organizational depth.Source: Arizona Diamondbacks
The Arizona Diamondbacks have signed right-hander Logan Gilbert to Start on Monday
Logan Gilbert (elbow) will be activated off the injured list and start against the Boston Red Sox on Monday. Gilbert appears to be finally ready to return after being sidelined since late April due to a right elbow flexor strain. He looked strong during his most recent rehab start where he struck out six batters across five shutout innings. Before going down, Gilbert had allowed two earned runs or less in five of his first six starts this season. Gilbert needs to be rostered and started in all fantasy formats.Source: Daniel Kramer
Seattle Mariners starting pitcher Eddie Rosario Released by Brewers
Eddie Rosario has opted out of his minor league deal and has been released on Sunday. Rosario only lasted a few weeks with the Brewers before deciding to head back into free agency. Rosario has only played in a handful of games this season between his time with the Los Angeles Dodgers and Atlanta Braves. The 33-year-old will look to catch on elsewhere and hopefully join a big league roster.Source: Curt Hogg
Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Tyler Soderstrom Resting on Sunday
Tyler Soderstrom is out of the starting lineup ahead of Sunday's game against the Kansas City Royals. This is a rare rest day for Soderstrom who has played in every game since May 5. Soderstrom was off to a fantastic start to the season, but he has slowed down lately. JJ Bleday will cover left field and bat eighth versus left-hander Noah Cameron on Sunday. Fantasy managers should adjust their lineups accordingly with Soderstrom heading to the bench.Source: mlb.com
Athletics first baseman/outfielder Shota Imanaga to Make Rehab Start on Friday
Shota Imanaga (hamstring) is scheduled to make a rehab start at Triple-A Iowa on Friday. Imanaga made a rehab start on Saturday at Rookie-level Arizona Complex League. He appears to be progressing and is hopefully going to make his final rehab start this upcoming Friday. Imanaga has been out since early May due to a hamstring issue. If everything goes well, Imanaga should be back in the Cubs rotation by the end of June.Source: Bruce Levine
Chicago Cubs starting pitcher Carson Palmquist Recalled, Starting on Monday
Carson Palmquist was recalled from Triple-A Albuquerque on Sunday. Palmquist will head back to the big league roster with fellow starter Kyle Freeland (back) heading to the injured list. Palmquist struggled during his first stint with the Rockies. He posted a 7.77 ERA across 22 innings (five starts) with the Rockies before being sent down. The rookie southpaw is back and will take the ball against the Washington Nationals on Monday. Given his struggles, Palmquist isn't a recommended streaming option for Monday's slate.Source: Thomas Harding
