Zach Thompson

1207 articles

Zach has been covering fantasy sports across multiple platforms and websites since 2008, and he's been playing fantasy sports since the late 90s, when he totaled the fantasy scores from the box scores in the newspaper. He has covered a variety of sports from a fantasy perspective, including the main ones like baseball, basketball, golf, football, and hockey, while also jumping into some more exotic options like Australian Rules Football and rugby. Basically, any sport that has a fantasy format--he'll play it! Even though he grew up almost 8,000 miles away in Guam, he was raised a diehard Boston sports fan. After playing soccer competitively throughout high school and college, Zach now lives in central Massachusetts with his wife and four children. He attends as many games in as many sports as possible and has found a passion for watching minor league baseball and tracking player development. Zach specializes in finding bargain plays from obscure spots, and nothing is sweeter than when a low ownership bargain option carries your fantasy team to the win!

Nico Collins Has a Quiet Night in Texans' Big Win

Houston Texans wide receiver Nico Collins was only targeted three times on Thursday Night, catching all three passes but finishing with only 55 yards. He was not targeted at all in the second half. Despite his down game, Collins' team was still able to pull out a huge win over the Bills, 23-19, to remain […]

Domantas Sabonis Will Miss at Least 3-4 Weeks

Sacramento Kings center Domantas Sabonis (knee) will miss at least the next three to four weeks, according to the latest from ESPN's Shams Charania. Sabonis was already ruled out for the second game of the team's back-to-back on Thursday, but now there's a clearer timeline of just how long he'll miss. While he's out, Drew […]

Alexandre Sarr Listed as Questionable for Friday Against the Raptors

Washington Wizards center Alexandre Sarr (toe) missed Wednesday's game against the Timberwolves after playing in the team's first 13 games of the season. He could return on Friday for the NBA Cup game against Toronto since he was listed as questionable with left big toe soreness. In his 13 games before the injury, Sarr averaged […]

Gary Harris Added to the Injury Report as Questionable for Thursday

Milwaukee Bucks guard/forward Gary Harris returned from a hamstring injury about a week ago and was starting to work his way into the rotation. He could be in for more work with the team in search of scoring options in the absence of Giannis Antetokounmpo (groin) for the next few weeks. However, Garris is now […]

Garrison Mathews Will Join the Pacers

Free-agent guard/forward Garrison Mathews is signing a 10-day hardship contract with the Pacers, who have been decimated by injuries in the early part of the season. Mathews has played six seasons in the NBA, spending time with the Wizards, Rockets, and Hawks. Last year, he played 47 games for Atlanta and averaged 7.5 points, 1.9 […]

Dante Exum Will Miss the Rest of the Season

Dallas Mavericks guard Dante Exum (knee) will not be able to play this season for the Mavs, as the team announced that he will need a follow-up surgery after complications with an offseason knee procedure. He played 20 games last season with Dallas and averaged 8.7 points, 2.8 assists, and 1.7 rebounds in 18.6 minutes […]

Keegan Murray Is Available For His Season Debut Thursday

Sacramento Kings forward Keegan Murray (thumb) does not have an injury designation for Thursday against the Grizzlies, so he should be set to make his season debut as expected. The Kings have definitely missed Murray's contributions on both ends of the floor, and he'll step right into as large a role as he is ready […]

Tyrese Maxey Listed as Probable for Thursday

Philadelphia 76ers guard Tyrese Maxey (quad) is dealing with a quad contusion but is expected to play through the issue on Thursday against the Bucks as the Sixers finish a back-to-back. Maxey played 38 minutes on Tuesday and totaled 24 points, nine assists, three steals, and two rebounds in his team's loss to the Raptors. […]

Domantas Sabonis Will Not Play Thursday Against Memphis

Sacramento Kings center Domantas Sabonis (knee) will miss his second straight game on Thursday night when his team visits the Grizzlies in Memphis. He also sat out on Wednesday, in what was thought to be just a rest day to have him ready for Thursday's contest. Instead, he'll miss both games of the back-to-back, but […]

Joel Embiid Listed as Out for Thursday

Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid (knee) will miss another game on Thursday after being listed as out on the injury report before the Sixers finish their back-to-back with a matchup against the Bucks. Embiid practiced on Tuesday but will not be able to return this week as was initially hoped. The team will continue to […]

Texans D/ST a Tough Play on Thursday Night Football

The Houston Texans defense has been an elite unit this season, racking up sacks and takeaways while limiting opponents to an average of 16.3 points per game. The team has 16 takeaways and 25 sacks in 10 games, along with a pair of defensive touchdowns. While the unit has been extremely productive overall this season, […]

Ka'imi Fairbairn Expected to Start on Thursday

Houston Texans kicker Ka'imi Fairbairn (quadriceps) missed his team's last two games with a quad injury, but he was back at practice this week and has no injury designation for Thursday night's home game against the Bills. Fairbairn has been one of the most reliable kickers in the NFL over the last few seasons, making […]

Cade Stover Is Back, But Remains Off the Fantasy Radar

Houston Texans tight end Cade Stover missed nine weeks with a foot injury, returning in Week 11 after originally being placed on IR after Week 1. He caught four of his four targets for 22 yards in the season opener, but he didn't have a target or catch against the Titans. He played 14 snaps […]

Dalton Schultz Remains a Fringe Starter Despite Tough Matchup

Houston Texans tight end Dalton Schultz has been extremely consistent this season, getting plenty of volume for PPR leagues. He has at least five catches in seven of his last eight games and has 20 targets from backup QB Davis Mills over the last two weeks. Mills will make another start against the Bills on […]

Jayden Higgins Still a High-Risk Play Despite Growing Role

Houston Texans wide receiver Jayden Higgins has stepped into a larger role for the Texans since his Week 6 bye week. He is still a high-risk play against the Bills on Thursday Night Football, though, especially with Davis Mills filling in for C.J. Stroud (concussion). Higgins has gotten seven targets in each of Mills' first […]

Nico Collins a Top-10 Receiver Even With a Backup Quarterback

Houston Texans wide receiver Nico Collins has at least seven catches in each of his last three games and is coming off a big game last week against the Titans. He had nine catches on 10 targets for 92 yards and a touchdown, while working with Davis Mills since C.J. Stroud (concussion) is still sidelined. […]

Nick Chubb Fading From Fantasy Football Relevance?

Houston Texans running back Nick Chubb has played a reduced role in the last few weeks, and it's hard to trust him this Thursday night, even in a favorable matchup against the Bills. Chubb played only 18 snaps (26%) in Week 11 against the Titans and had just three carries for 17 yards. It was […]

Woody Marks is a Fringe RB2 Against the Bills

Houston Texans running back Woody Marks seems to be grabbing most of the work in his team's backfield, and he'll be a good flex option on Thursday Night Football against the Bills. Buffalo has allowed the second-most fantasy points per game to running backs, and the Bucs' Sean Tucker lit the Bills up for three […]

Davis Mills Set for His Third Straight Start

Houston Texans quarterback Davis Mills will make his third straight start for the Texans after helping his team past the Jaguars and Titans the last two weeks. He'll face the Bills on Thursday night, stepping in for C.J. Stroud (concussion), who is still not ready to return. Mills has put up solid numbers in both […]

7 Running Back Committees With Upside: Key Fantasy Football Takeaways for Week 12

Week 12 continues the stretch run of playoff races in most fantasy football leagues, and as you get your team tuned up and ready for the sprint to the finish, be sure to have the horses in your backfield all ready to run. Especially at running back, the landscape shifts around the league each week, […]

Emanuel Wilson - Fantasy Football Waiver Wire, Rankinks, Draft Sleepers

Should I Pickup Emanuel Wilson or Chris Brooks? Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Pickups for Week 12

The Green Bay Packers have relied heavily on Josh Jacobs this season, and he's been one of the most consistent running backs in the NFL. On Sunday against the Giants, he went down with a knee injury, which could open the door for new options to get more workload in Week 12 against the Vikings […]

Jonathan Kuminga Remains Out Tuesday

Golden State Warriors forward Jonathan Kuminga (knee) will miss his third straight game this Tuesday while battling bilateral knee tendonitis. Kuminga's absence will allow players like Moses Moody, Will Richard, and Buddy Hield to get more work against the Magic in Orlando. Kuminga got off to a strong start before battling soreness in both his […]

Keegan Murray Could Make his Season Debut This Week

Sacramento Kings forward Keegan Murray (thumb) has been cleared for five-on-five, contact practices, and he could be ready to join the team's rotation later this week. The Kings assigned him to the G League for practice as he ramps back up after injuring his thumb in the preseason. The team hopes he can return during […]

Caris LeVert Liston as Out on Tuesday

Detroit Pistons guard/forward Caris LeVert (ankle) will not play on Tuesday when his team finishes a back-to-back on the road in Atlanta. He played just 17 minutes on Monday and had eight points and eight assists. His next chance to return will be Saturday against the Bucks. While he's out, Cade Cunningham (hip), Ausar Thompson […]

Tobias Harris Could Return Thursday

Detroit Pistons forward Tobias Harris (ankle) is nearing a return, and he was listed as questionable for Tuesday's game against the Hawks in Atlanta, along with Cade Cunningham (hip) and Ausar Thompson (ankle). On Monday, coach J.B. Bickerstaff said that Harris had no timetable for return, but now it looks like that timetable could be […]

Ausar Thompson Questionable Again on Tuesday

Detroit Pistons forward Ausar Thompson (ankle) has been sidelined for four straight games with an ankle sprain, but he seems to be nearing a return after moving well in Monday's shootaround before being ruled out along with Cade Cunningham (hip). Both starters are questionable for Tuesday night in Atlanta as the Pistons look to extend […]

Cade Cunningham is Questionable Tuesday in Atlanta

Detroit Pistons point guard Cade Cunningham (hip) has missed the last three games for his team, which has stayed hot in his absence, extending their winning streak to 10 games by beating the Pacers on Monday. Cunningham could return for the second game of the back-to-back, and if he does, he'll probably resume his heavy […]

Shedeur Sanders Worth a Look on the Waiver Wire?

Cleveland Browns quarterback Shedeur Sanders made his long-awaited NFL debut on Sunday against the Ravens, but the rookie struggled mightily, completing only four of his 16 pass attempts for 47 yards with an interception and adding three rushing attempts for 16 yards. With starter Dillon Gabriel working through the concussion protocol, Sanders should get most […]

Brock Wright Sets Career-High in Targets; Lined Up for More Work?

Detroit Lions tight end Brock Wright was targeted seven times on Sunday night against the Eagles, but he only hauled in two catches for eight yards. It was a new career-high for the veteran in his fifth season out of Notre Dame. Wright was in a bigger role with SamLaPorta (back) on IR, and he […]

Does Brandon Aiyuk Make a Good Waiver-Wire Stash?

San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk (knee) is over a year removed from his injury and should be nearing a return based on the team's expectations coming into the season. However, he still hasn't had his 21-day practice window opened, and that won't happen this week, according to head coach Kyle Shanahan. While he's […]
