Zach Thompson

1392 articles

Zach has been covering fantasy sports across multiple platforms and websites since 2008, and he's been playing fantasy sports since the late 90s, when he totaled the fantasy scores from the box scores in the newspaper. He has covered a variety of sports from a fantasy perspective, including the main ones like baseball, basketball, golf, football, and hockey, while also jumping into some more exotic options like Australian Rules Football and rugby. Basically, any sport that has a fantasy format--he'll play it! Even though he grew up almost 8,000 miles away in Guam, he was raised a diehard Boston sports fan. After playing soccer competitively throughout high school and college, Zach now lives in central Massachusetts with his wife and four children. He attends as many games in as many sports as possible and has found a passion for watching minor league baseball and tracking player development. Zach specializes in finding bargain plays from obscure spots, and nothing is sweeter than when a low ownership bargain option carries your fantasy team to the win!

Darren Waller Can Be a TE Sleeper in Week 17

Miami Dolphins tight end Darren Waller is working with a rookie QB in Quinn Ewers, so he has a wide range of possible outcomes this week at home against the Buccaneers. Waller has shown he still has a nose for the end zone with six touchdowns in eight games, but Ewers is still looking for […]

Malik Washington Is a Shaky Play Against the Buccaneers

Miami Dolphins wide receiver Malik Washington scored his fourth touchdown of the season last week against the Bengals, taking a nine-yard rush to the end zone in the second quarter. However, he has been in an extremely limited role the last few weeks, catching only one pass on one target in back-to-back contests. The Buccaneers […]

Jaylen Wright Looking for Another Opportunity

Miami Dolphins running back Jaylen Wright seems to have taken over as the team's primary backup behind De'Von Achane. He played 18 snaps last week compared to just three for rookie Ollie Gordon II, and Wright added a garbage-time touchdown while taking his nine carries for 35 yards and catching one of his two targets […]

Jaylen Waddle Is a WR2 in Week 17

Miami Dolphins wide receiver Jaylen Waddle has been the team's top option since Tyreek Hill's season-ending injury, and he'll be a solid second receiver in standard-sized leagues this week as his team hosts the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Waddle had five catches on nine targets for 72 yards in last week's loss to the Bengals, which […]

De'Von Achane Remains a Top Running Back Play in Week 17

Miami Dolphins running back De'Von Achane is once again a top-ten starting option this week as his team hosts the Bucs. Rookie Quinn Ewers will make his second straight start at quarterback for Miami, and last week Achane had 81 rushing yards and nine receiving yards in support of the rookie in the team's 45-21 […]

Ollie Gordon II Not Getting Much Work in Miami

Miami Dolphins running back Ollie Gordon II has flashed touchdown-dependent upside in his rookie season, but he's battled an ankle injury and fallen down the depth chart in the last few weeks, playing behind Jaylen Wright. Gordon only played three snaps last week against the Bengals, compared to 18 for Wright. He also lost a […]

Quinn Ewers Only a Very Deep League Option in Second NFL Start

Miami Dolphins quarterback Quinn Ewers will make his second career start on Sunday when the Dolphins host the Buccaneers in a Sunshine State showdown. Ewers completed 20-of-30 passes for 260 passing yards with no touchdowns and two interceptions in his start against the Bengals last week, which was enough to earn a second start this […]

TreVeyon Henderson - Fantasy Football Rookie Rankings, RB Draft Sleepers

TreVeyon Henderson Injury Report: Will Henderson Play in Week 17 for Fantasy Football?

In their first season under new head coach Mike Vrabel, the Patriots are back in the postseason and still in the race for the AFC East and the top seed in the AFC, which would earn them a bye week in the playoffs. One of the keys to their success has been the emergence of […]

Ka'imi Fairbairn Remains a Strong Starting Kicker on Saturday

Houston Texans kicker Ka'imi Fairbairn continues to regularly deliver for the Texans and his fantasy owners, so he's a strong starting option kicking indoors on Saturday afternoon against the Chargers. The 31-year-old from Hawaii made all three of his field goals last week from 55, 50, and 49 yards and also knocked through all three […]

Houston Texans D/ST Remains a Top Option in Week 17

The Houston Texans D/ST has fueled the team's seven-game winning streak, and they'll go on the road this week in a critical matchup against the Chargers on Saturday afternoon. The Texans can clinch a playoff spot with a victory, and they had four sacks and four interceptions against Justin Herbert when they faced him in […]

Dalton Schultz Is a Strong Start on Saturday

Houston Texans tight end Dalton Schultz has been a consistent PPR producer for most of the season and has played his way up the rankings coming into his team's Saturday afternoon matchup with the Chargers. Schultz has 75 catches for 685 yards and three touchdowns this season and has found the end zone in each […]

Is Christian Kirk Finally Healthy?

Houston Texans wide receiver Christian Kirk is coming off one of his best games of the season last week against the Raiders, as the veteran played his most snaps (39) since Week 9 and had his most targets (5) since Week 12. He'll have a tougher matchup this week against the Chargers on Saturday and […]

Jayden Higgins Is a Long-Shot Play Against the Chargers

Houston Texans wide receiver Jayden Higgins has made good progress throughout his rookie season, climbing the depth chart and locking in as the team's top option across the field from Nico Collins. However, he only has one catch in each of his last two games, so he'll be a long-shot play this week, when his […]

Nico Collins Will Be a Fringe WR1 on Saturday

Houston Texans wide receiver Nico Collins has remained his team's clear go-to option at receiver this season, but he's only a fringe WR1 this week in a tough Saturday afternoon matchup against the Chargers. Collins has hauled in 68 of his 116 targets this season for 1,060 receiving yards and six touchdowns, and he has […]

Nick Chubb Is a Shaky Play in Week 17

Houston Texans running back Nick Chubb has been a regular part of the team's running back rotation this season, but his role in Week 17 against the Chargers is a little murky. Woody Marks is ready to return from an ankle injury after missing Week 16, and Jawhar Jordan had a nice breakout while Marks […]

Jawhar Jordan Is a High-Risk Flex Play

Houston Texans running back Jawhar Jordan has impressed the last two weeks, but he's high-risk this week since his role is uncertain as his team visits the Chargers on Saturday afternoon. The 26-year-old broke out in his NFL debut in Week 15, taking 15 carries for 101 yards against the Cardinals. He followed that up […]

Should Woody Marks Be Back in Your Lineup Against the Chargers?

Houston Texans running back Woody Marks (ankle) missed last week's game against the Raiders after sustaining an injury in Week 15 against Arizona, but he had full participation in practice and has no injury status for this week, indicating he should be a full go in Week 17. The Texans are in a tough matchup […]

C.J. Stroud Is a Strong QB2 in Week 17

Houston Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud is in a tough matchup on Saturday afternoon against the Chargers, but he has shown enough momentum to still be a strong option in two-QB formats or in deep leagues this week. Stroud only threw for 187 yards and a touchdown last week in a narrow win over the Raiders, […]

Goga Bitadze Uncertain for Tuesday's Game in Portland

Orlando Magic center Goga Bitadze (knee) was given the questionable tag for Tuesday night's game against the Trail Blazers, as the Magic finish a back-to-back. Bitadze played 14 minutes against the Warriors on Monday, scoring two points to go with five rebounds and a block. Jonathan Isaac (hip) and Tristan da Silva (shoulder) are also […]

Jonathan Isaac Listed As Questionable for Tuesday

Orlando Magic forward/center Jonathan Isaac (hip) could miss Tuesday night's matchup in Portland after being listed as questionable with a hip contusion. He played 13 minutes on Monday and has logged 10-to-15 minutes in six straight games, making marginal contributions in the second unit. With Goga Bitadze (knee) and Tristan da Silva (shoulder) also questionable, […]

Tristan da Silva Could Return Tuesday

Orlando Magic forward Tristan da Silva (shoulder) has missed the last three games with a shoulder contusion, but he was listed as questionable for Tuesday night's game against the Trail Blazers. He is averaging 9.7 points, 3.9 rebounds, 1.2 assists, and 23 minutes per game in his 26 games this season, and he stepped into […]

Jalen Suggs Ruled Out Tuesday

Orlando Magic point guard Jalen Suggs (hip) has been ruled out for a fourth straight game as the Magic visit the Blazers for the second game of their back-to-back. Suggs has been out since Dec. 13 with a left hip contusion. While he has been sidelined, Anthony Black and Paolo Banchero have been carrying more […]

Austin Reaves Is Available Against the Suns

Los Angeles Lakers guard Austin Reaves (calf) missed the last three games with a left-calf strain, but he will be able to return to action on Tuesday against the Suns. His return is well-timed since Luka Doncic (leg) has been ruled out for the contest, giving Reaves a massive role if he's ready to pick […]

Malik Monk Available on the Trade Market

Sacramento Kings guard Malik Monk has been made available ahead of the trade deadline, according to the latest reports from Chris B Haynes of NBA on Prime. Monk has fallen out of the rotation for the Kings as they try to go younger in the backcourt, but he still would be an interesting addition to […]

Sam Darnold Can Be a Deep-League Streamer Despite Bad Matchup

Seattle Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold led his team to a big win last Thursday against the Rams, throwing for 270 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions. He's had a few down games lately, but has also thrown for at least 249 yards in three straight games. When the touchdowns are there, he's typically a […]

Can J.J. McCarthy Be a Streaming Option Against the Lions?

Minnesota Vikings QB J.J. McCarthy (hand) missed practice on Monday after having to leave last week's game at halftime with a hand injury. The Vikings have a favorable matchup this week and a chance to play spoiler against the Lions, but McCarthy will need to overcome his injury to be a viable option. He was […]

Gardner Minshew Avoids ACL Tear

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Gardner Minshew (knee) got good news from an MRI on his injured knee, as his ACL was not torn as initially feared. He's still out for the rest of the season on IR, but his recovery will be quicker since it's a "non-displaced tibial plateau fracture," which is basically a severe […]

Trevor Lawrence Is a Top Addition if Available

Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence is on a heater as the Jaguars push to the playoffs, and he makes a good start in almost all formats this week. He's still available in about one-third of leagues despite his recent success, and he has a favorable matchup in Week 17 against the Colts, who were just […]

Isiah Pacheco Back in the Lead in the Chiefs' Backfield

Kansas City Chiefs running back Isiah Pacheco took back over as the lead back for the Chiefs this week, stepping in ahead of veteran Kareem Hunt and taking eight carries for 34 yards while adding six catches for 41 yards in the team's loss to the Titans last week. Pacheco could be in for a […]
