Zach Thompson

1107 articles

Zach has been covering fantasy sports across multiple platforms and websites since 2008, and he's been playing fantasy sports since the late 90s, when he totaled the fantasy scores from the box scores in the newspaper. He has covered a variety of sports from a fantasy perspective, including the main ones like baseball, basketball, golf, football, and hockey, while also jumping into some more exotic options like Australian Rules Football and rugby. Basically, any sport that has a fantasy format--he'll play it! Even though he grew up almost 8,000 miles away in Guam, he was raised a diehard Boston sports fan. After playing soccer competitively throughout high school and college, Zach now lives in central Massachusetts with his wife and four children. He attends as many games in as many sports as possible and has found a passion for watching minor league baseball and tracking player development. Zach specializes in finding bargain plays from obscure spots, and nothing is sweeter than when a low ownership bargain option carries your fantasy team to the win!

Texans D/ST Remains a Fringe Starting Option

The Houston Texans defense has been excellent this season, holding opponents to 20 points or fewer in all but one of their seven games. Last week at home, they held the 49ers to 15 points, with two sacks and an interception. Will Anderson Jr. continues to lead an excellent pass rush, and Derek Stingley Jr. […]

Ka'imi Fairbairn Is in a Tough Matchup in Week 9

Houston Texans kicker Ka'imi Fairbairn has been a starting kicker for fantasy teams for most of the season, but there may be a better option available this week. He has converted 17 of his 19 field goal attempts this season, with both misses from beyond 50 yards. He has made five field goals of more […]

Harrison Bryant Could Step into a Larger Role Vs. the Broncos

Houston Texans tight end Harrison Bryant has been the team's primary backup since Week 2, but his production has been limited to just one catch for five yards on four targets all year. He could be lined up for more work this week, though, since Dalton Schultz (knee/shoulder) has a questionable tag heading into a […]

Dalton Schultz Will Look to Play Through Questionable Tag Against Denver

Houston Texans tight end Dalton Schultz (knee/shoulder) is officially questionable for Week 9's matchup with the Broncos, but the veteran from Stanford was able to put in a full practice Friday and seems to be on track to play through the injury. He's RotoBaller's No. 20 tight end this week if he does play, and […]

Xavier Hutchinson Is Hard to Start in Crowded Receiver Room

Houston Texans wide receiver Xavier Hutchinson has found the end zone three times in his last three games and is coming off a season-high five catches for 69 yards and a touchdown in last week's win over the 49ers. However, with Christian Kirk (hamstring) and Nico Collins (concussion) returning from their injuries, the Texans suddenly […]

Jaylin Noel in a Reduced Role This Weekend?

Houston Texans wide receiver Jaylin Noel has been one of the team's busiest receivers in the last two weeks, hauling in nine of 13 targets for a total of 140 receiving yards in his last two contests. The rookie from Iowa State was filling in for Christian Kirk (hamstring) and showed the ability to make […]

Jayden Higgins Is Tough to Start Against the Broncos

Houston Texans wide receiver Jayden Higgins worked his way into a larger role for the team while injuries to Christian Kirk (hamstring) and Nico Collins (concussion) opened an opportunity. While he still has upside, he's tough to count on in fantasy linesups for Week 9 against the tough Broncos secondary, with both Kirk and Collins […]

Christian Kirk Is a High-Risk Play in His Return

Houston Texans wide receiver Christian Kirk is set to return in Week 9 from a two-game absence due to a hamstring injury, but he steps into a brutal matchup against the Broncos, who have allowed the second-fewest wide receiver fantasy points this season. Kirk has missed two games on two occasions this season with hamstring […]

Nico Collins Does Not Have an Injury Designation vs. the Broncos

Houston Texans wide receiver Nico Collins is ready to return to the lineup in Week 9 against the Broncos after missing Week 8 with a concussion. Collins is in a tough matchup against a strong pass defense, but he still brings elite upside. The fifth-year receiver from Michigan has averaged 7.7 targets per game this […]

Nick Chubb Is a Risky Flex Play in Week 9

Houston Texans running back Nick Chubb continues to share time in the backfield with Woody Marks, with his primary workload coming on early downs. Chubb had 17 carries last week compared to just 11 for Marks, but since he only had two targets and two catches for 13 yards, Marks was a slightly better fantasy […]

Woody Marks Ready to Go Against the Broncos

Houston Texans running back Woody Marks (calf) was limited in practice this week but does not have an injury designation for Week 9's matchup against the Broncos. Marks had a massive breakthrough performance in Week 4 with 69 rushing yards, 50 receiving yards, and a pair of touchdowns. He took a back seat to Nick […]

C.J. Stroud Is a Fringe QB2 in a Tough Matchup

Houston Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud has shown positive signs in several of his last few games, with multiple touchdowns in three of his last four games. However, this week, he and the Texans have a tough matchup against the Broncos, who have allowed the fourth-fewest fantasy points to quarterbacks this season. Stroud will get some […]

Oronde Gadsden II, Jake Ferguson, Dalton Kincaid: Start ‘Em, Sit ‘Em Picks for Fantasy Football Week 9

While it isn't as flashy or deep as some of the other fantasy football positions, tight end is always a critical slot to fill in your lineup each week. The lack of depth at the position actually makes production even more important, and several strong options have emerged as the season has unfolded, bringing good […]

Moses Moody Will Be Available vs. the Bucks

Golden State Warriors guard Moses Moody (thumb) was originally listed as questionable for Thursday's game against the Bucks with right thumb soreness, but he was upgraded to available on Thursday afternoon. Moody has averaged 22 minutes per game in his three contests this season, chipping in 12.0 points, 2.3 rebounds, 1.0 assists, 1.0 steals, and […]

Jalen Suggs Will Not Play Thursday

Orlando Magic point guard Jalen Suggs (knee) will rest on the second game of the team's back-to-back on Thursday against the Hornets. He played 21 minutes in each of the last two games, as the team continues to manage his workload after knee surgery in March. Suggs is averaging 11.2 points, 4.2 assists, and 3.8 […]

Franz Wagner Questionable vs. the Hornets on Thursday

Orlando Magic forward Franz Wagner (heel) has gotten off to a strong start to the season, but he's questionable to play Thursday on the second night of the team's back-to-back. Wagner is averaging 22.4 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 3.0 assists in 35 minutes per game over the first five games of the season. Wagner played […]

When Will Ricky Pearsall Return and Be Back? Fantasy Football Injury Update for Week 9 (2025)

The 49ers have had a very rough season from an injury perspective this year, with several key stars missing multiple weeks. Last year as a rookie, he produced 15.3 points, 4.6 assists, and 2.4 rebounds in 25.7 minutes per game in 23 games before a knee injury ended his […]

7 Running Back Committees With Upside: Key Fantasy Football Takeaways for Week 9

As we reach the halfway point in the NFL regular season, many teams continue to use committees in the backfield. When Will Puka Nacua Return and Be Back? Fantasy Football Injury Update for Week 9 (2025)

Through the first five weeks of the NFL season, Puka Nacua was the best fantasy football wide receiver in the NFL.
