Zach Thompson

1171 articles

Zach has been covering fantasy sports across multiple platforms and websites since 2008, and he's been playing fantasy sports since the late 90s, when he totaled the fantasy scores from the box scores in the newspaper. He has covered a variety of sports from a fantasy perspective, including the main ones like baseball, basketball, golf, football, and hockey, while also jumping into some more exotic options like Australian Rules Football and rugby. Basically, any sport that has a fantasy format--he'll play it! Even though he grew up almost 8,000 miles away in Guam, he was raised a diehard Boston sports fan. After playing soccer competitively throughout high school and college, Zach now lives in central Massachusetts with his wife and four children. He attends as many games in as many sports as possible and has found a passion for watching minor league baseball and tracking player development. Zach specializes in finding bargain plays from obscure spots, and nothing is sweeter than when a low ownership bargain option carries your fantasy team to the win!

Jayden Higgins Needs to Step Up

Houston Texans wide receiver Jayden Higgins has a huge opportunity in front of him in Week 8, as his team hosts the 49ers on Sunday afternoon. The Texans won't have Nico Collins (concussion) or Christian Kirk (hamstring), so Higgins should step up into one of the primary wide receiver roles for C.J. Stroud. The second-round […]

Nick Chubb a Touchdown-Dependent Flex Option

Houston Texans running back Nick Chubb played his smallest share of snaps of the season in Week 7 in the Texans' loss, but he still has the potential to bounce back this week against San Francisco. Chubb played 25% of snaps and had five carries for 16 rushing yards, while also hauling in one of […]

Woody Marks Taking Over the Texans Backfield?

Houston Texans running back Woody Marks had a monster game in Week 4 that made him one of the hottest names on the waiver wire market. He had a down game in Week 5 before his bye week, though, causing many to question his role going forward. When the Texans returned on Monday in Seattle, […]

C.J. Stroud Is a Borderline QB2 vs. San Francisco

Houston Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud had a monster game before the team's bye week, but he struggled against the Seahawks on Monday night and will be without key pass-catchers in Week 8. Both Nico Collins (concussion) and Christian Kirk (hamstring) are out, so Stroud will be forced to be creative and rely on less proven […]

Greg Dulcich Could Have a Role Against Atlanta

Miami Dolphins tight end Greg Dulcich was just signed to the active roster on Wednesday, but he could step into an involved role after Darren Waller (pec) landed on IR and Julian Hill (ankle) was also ruled out for Week 8. Tanner Conner is the other tight end on the roster, but has typically split […]

Tanner Conner Set to Start Against Falcons?

Miami Dolphins tight end Tanner Conner could suddenly be thrust into a larger role this week for the Dolphins after Darren Waller (pectoral) landed on IR and Julian Hill (ankle) was also ruled out for the team's Week 8 matchup with the Falcons. Conner played about 50% of snaps in the first few weeks of […]

Nick Westbrook-Ikhine Serving as Dolphins Third Receiver

Miami Dolphins wide receiver Nick Westbrook-Ikhine has stepped into a much larger role in the last few weeks since Tyreek Hill (knee) was lost for the season. He played over 60% of snaps in each of the last three weeks, and last week, he finally started to get more involved. He had three catches for […]

Welcome back, RotoBallers! This Saturday night, the NBA has a solid five-game slate on tap, giving us a player pool of 10 teams on both DraftKings and FanDuel. The action starts at 7:00 p.m. ET, when the Bulls visit the Magic. With 10 teams in the player pool, there are some excellent plays to consider […]

Malik Washington Still Looking for a Breakthrough

Miami Dolphins wide receiver Malik Washington had his best game of the season last week, setting new high marks for catches, targets, and receiving yards. However, he still only had five catches, for 30 yards on eight targets. Washington has at least four catches in each of his three games since the season-ending injury to […]

Jaylen Waddle Ready to Play but Tough to Start Against the Falcons

Miami Dolphins wide receiver Jaylen Waddle (hamstring/rest) was limited at practice on Thursday, but does not have an injury designation coming into Week 8's matchup with the Falcons. The Falcons have allowed the second-fewest fantasy points to wide receivers this season, and the Dolphins' passing game has struggled badly under Tua Tagovailoa. Waddle only had […]

Ollie Gordon II is Still Getting a Few Carries Each Week

Miami Dolphins running back Ollie Gordon II hasn't been able to break through yet in his rookie season, but he does continue to get some work each week. Coming into Week 8's game against the Falcons, Gordon has played around 25% of snaps over the last few weeks. He has multiple carries in each of […]

Tez Johnson - Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Rankings, Deeper League Sleepers

Tez Johnson, Kayshon Boutte, Romeo Doubs: Start ‘Em, Sit ‘Em Picks for Fantasy Football Week 8

We've reached Week 8 of the regular season, which is the biggest bye week of the season. Six teams are on a bye, leaving every fantasy football manager's roster stretched a little thin. One position that has no shortage of options but plenty of volatility is wide receivers. Some strong fringe starters have emerged over […]

Jaylen Wright To Be More Involved in Week 8?

Miami Dolphins running back Jaylen Wright started the season sidelined by a knee injury, but he has been available since Week 4. However, Wright still doesn't have a target, a carry, or even an offensive snap. He was a healthy scratch in Week 5 and Week 6, but in Week 7, he was active. He […]

Tua Tagovailoa Not a Strong Fantasy Option Against the Falcons

Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa is the No. 26 QB in RotoBaller's rankings for Week 8, which isn't a good thing when there are only 26 teams playing this week. It has been a rough season for the Dolphins and Tagovailoa all year, but it reached new depths last week in a 31-6 loss to […]

De'Von Achane Still a Top-Five Running Back

Miami Dolphins running back De'Von Achane remains one of the few players from his team who can be relied on for fantasy football purposes. This week, he and the Dolphins are visiting the Falcons after taking a 31-6 beating last week in Cleveland. Achane still had a decent game in the loss, producing 82 rushing […]

Luguentz Dort Will Be Available Thursday Night

Oklahoma City Thunder guard/forward Luguentz Dort (ankle) was originally questionable for Thursday night's matchup in Indiana against the Pacers, but he was upgraded to available on Thursday afternoon. Dort typically plays plenty of minutes as a defensive specialist, but he may have to carry more of the offense with Cason Wallace (knee) joining Isaiah Joe […]

Cason Wallace Will Not Play Thursday vs. the Pacers

Oklahoma City Thunder guard Cason Wallace (knee) will not play Thursday when the Thunder visit the Pacers. He was originally listed as questionable due to a left knee sprain, but he was downgraded to out on Thursday afternoon. The Thunder started the season with a double-overtime thriller against the Rockets, and Wallace played 42 minutes […]

De'Andre Hunter Moving Well; Remains Uncertain for Friday

Cleveland Cavaliers forward De'Andre Hunter (knee) was one of several important players who missed the team's opener on Wednesday, but he was able to go through a lengthy shooting workout after practice and seemed to be moving well. He was expected to start early in the season with Max Strus (foot) sidelined, but he'll need […]

Tiago Splitter Will be the Interim Head Coach of the Trail Blazers

Portland Trail Blazers assistant coach Tiago Splitter will serve as the team's interim head coach after head coach Chauncey Billups was placed on "immediate leave" by the NBA after being arrested and indicted on charges of wire fraud conspiracy and money laundering conspiracy. Splitter played seven seasons for the Spurs, Sixers, and Hawks from 2010-2017 […]

Al Horford Will Come Off the Bench on Thursday

Golden State Warriors forward/center Al Horford will come off the bench for the second game in a row to open the season with his new squad. Horford will be limited to about 20 minutes, according to Steve Kerr, as the Warriors try to manage the veteran's workload. Kerr said before the season that the lineup […]

Yves Missi Will Be Questionable Friday vs. the Spurs

New Orleans Pelicans center Yves Missi (ankle) is considered day-to-day, according to coach Willie Green, who added that the big man will be listed as questionable for Friday's home opener against San Antonio. Missi started and played 23 minutes on Wednesday night in the Pels' loss to the Grizzlies, finishing with five points, seven rebounds, […]

When Will Ricky Pearsall Return and Be Back? Fantasy Football Injury Update for Week 8 (2025)

The 49ers have dealt with multiple key injuries this season, but they are still 5-2 through seven games and locked in a three-way tie for the top spot in the NFC West. They have started to get a few players back from injuries suffered early in the season, but are still waiting for top wide […]

7 Running Back Committees With Upside: Key Fantasy Football Takeaways for Week 8

Each week, many teams in the NFL rotate their running backs in a committee setup to take advantage of the strengths of each running back and keep players fresh and rested to carry the load over the long haul. Week 8 Waiver Wire Pickups - Oronde Gadsden, Harold Fannin Jr., Juwan Johnson Fantasy Football Outlooks

Week 8 is the biggest bye week of the year, with a huge total of SIX teams getting the week off. With everyone's roster stretched thin, it's an important week to show off your depth or come up with a creative solution really quickly. One position where many managers may need help is at tight […]

Week 8 Waiver Wire Pickups - Elic Ayomanor, Chimere Dike, Chris Moore Fantasy Football Outlooks

Every week in the NFL, more players go down with injuries, and with six teams on a bye for Week 8, you may need to get creative with your roster management. Even the best plans for your roster can unravel in a hurry, but don't worry, some new options are entering the mix as well. […]

Jaylen Brown Questionable for Celtics Season Opener

Boston Celtics guard Jaylen Brown (hamstring) is questionable for Boston's season-opening matchup with the 76ers. He strained his hamstring in the final game of the preseason but has been able to put in consecutive full practices. He said he's feeling great now but is taking it one day at a time. which is a great […]

Tari Eason Not Signing His Rookie Extension with the Rockets

Houston Rockets forward Tari Eason appears to be lined up to be a restricted free agent next offseason, according to ESPN's Shams Charania, who reports that the rookie did not sign his rookie extension before Monday's deadline. When healthy, the Bucket from the Bayou has shown a high ceiling, but he has battled a leg […]

Max Brosmer Could Be an Option to Start For the Vikings on Thursday

Minnesota Vikings quarterback Max Brosmer could be the team's starter on Thursday night, when they visit the Chargers on a short week. Carson Wentz (shoulder) has started the last four games for Minnesota, but he was banged up again in the team's loss to the Eagles on Sunday. If he can't recover in time for […]

Tyrod Taylor a Better Fit for Jets Offense?

New York Jets quarterback Justin Fields could be in jeopardy of losing his starting job after another rough outing on Sunday against the Panthers. Before the game, coach Aaron Glenn dismissed any discussion about a change at quarterback, but then, midway through the game, Tyrod Taylor came on in place of Fields. Neither QB led […]

Chris Godwin May Not Play This Week

Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Chris Godwin (fibula) missed his team's Week 7 loss to the Lions on Monday Night Football, and even though he's recovering, head coach Todd Bowles didn't seem confident that the veteran receiver will be ready to return in Week 8 against the Saints. With a bye week in Week 9, […]
