Jose Siri to Face Live Pitching on Thursday
Jose Siri (leg) will face left-hander Sean Manaea (oblique) during a live batting practice session on Thursday, according to MLB.com's Anthony DiComo. Siri is recovering from a fractured left tibia that has kept him out since April 12. He has more boxes to check off before being cleared for a minor-league rehab assignment, though, as he's currently limited to running in a straight line. It's good news that the 29-year-old is set to face live pitching, but his last hurdle will probably be to run the bases at full speed. Barring a setback with his leg, Siri could return to the Mets' big-league roster around the middle of June. Before his injury, Siri had gone only just 1-for-20 with an RBI, five runs and two stolen bases while losing playing time in center field to Tyrone Taylor. Siri won't be guaranteed anything more than a bench role in New York upon his return.
