Kenley Jansen Exits Early Monday With Undisclosed Injury
Kenley Jansen (undisclosed) threw just four pitches in his Monday outing against the Red Sox with an undisclosed injury, per MLB.com's Rhett Bollinger. Jansen came in to pitch the top of the ninth inning up by four. He did not make it through his first batter before exiting the game with head athletic trainer Mike Frostad. His velocity was down three MPH from his season average. He was replaced by Hector Neris. The 37-year-old has dealt with numerous injuries throughout his career, so fantasy managers should keep an eye out for further updates after the game. He has converted all 15 of his save opportunities this season with a 4.39 ERA, a 1.31 WHIP, and an 8.44 K/9 rate in 26 2/3 innings of work. Should Jansen need to miss time, fantasy managers may look at Reid Detmers or veteran Hunter Strickland, who have been utilized in high-leverage situations throughout the season.
