Josh Jung Hits Two Homers, Plates Four Tuesday
Josh Jung had an excellent day at the plate in Tuesday's 4-1 win over the Rockies. Jung went 3-for-4 with a single, a three-run home run, and a solo HR. The 27-year-old lined a first-inning Kyle Freeland fastball into the right-field dugout to plate three and launched a Zach Agnos offering into the left-field seats in the eighth inning. Jung has put together solid numbers in 2025, slashing .282/.315/.492 with six HR, 16 RBI, and two stolen bases in 130 plate appearances. Injuries have been an issue for Jung throughout his career, but he has produced decent batting average and power when healthy.Source: MLB.com
Texas Rangers third baseman T.J. McFarland Placed On 15-Day Injured List
T.J. McFarland (groin) on the 15-day injured list (retroactive to May 12) with a left-adductor strain and optioned right-hander Elvis Alvarado to Triple-A Las Vegas, the team announced. The club also reinstated right-hander Michael Otanez (shoulder) from the 15-day IL and recalled right-hander Jason Alexander from Las Vegas. McFarland was pulled from his latest outing after covering first base on a groundout on Sunday against the New York Yankees. The 35-year-old southpaw reliever will now be on the shelf for at least the next two weeks. The former fourth-rounder by the Cleveland Guardians in 2007 has not been anywhere near the fantasy radar and heads to the IL with an ugly 5.23 ERA (3.50 FIP) and 1.74 WHIP with four strikeouts and three walks in his 10 1/3 innings out of the bullpen.Source: A's Communications
The Athletics placed left-hander Arjun Nimmala's Strong Start Prompts Big Rise Up Prospect Ranks
Arjun Nimmala, who started the year as MLB.com's 78th-ranked prospect overall, has moved up to the 59th-ranked prospect overall. That's a jump of 19 spots and the fourth-biggest move higher out of all the top 100 prospects. The 20th pick in the 2023 MLB Draft belted 16 home runs at Single-A last year in 82 games, although it came with a 31.3 percent strikeout rate. Fast forward to 2025, and the 19-year-old is hitting .280 with seven home runs at High-A through 29 games, and while the power is still there, the strikeout rate has fallen all the way to 20.5 percent, a marked improvement over 2024. The 6-foot-1 slugger has an ETA of 2028 according to MLB.com, so dynasty managers have some time to watch the youngster's development.Source: MLB.com
Toronto Blue Jays shortstop prospect TJ Friedl Leaves With Wrist Soreness On Tuesday
TJ Friedl (wrist) left Tuesday's extra-inning loss to the visiting Chicago White Sox early due to right-wrist soreness, according to The Cincinnati Enquirer's Charlie Goldsmith. X-rays came back negative. Friedl was hit by a pitch in the game and also collided with shortstop Elly De La Cruz before being pulled from the game early. Before leaving in the fifth frame, the 29-year-old went 0-for-1 with a strikeout out of the leadoff spot before being replaced by Will Benson. Fantasy managers should treat him as day-to-day for now, but it wouldn't be a surprise if we don't see him for the rest of the series against Chicago, which concludes on Thursday. Friedl has been a regular outfielder for the Reds this year and entered Tuesday's game hitting a solid .276 (43-for-156) with three homers, 17 RBI, 23 runs and eight stolen bases in 39 games played.Source: The Cincinnati Enquirer - Charlie Goldsmith
Cincinnati Reds outfielder Marcelo Mayer Hits Eighth Home Run, Drives In Three At Triple-A
Marcelo Mayer went 2-for-4 with a walk, a three-run home run, and two runs scored for Triple-A Worcester on Tuesday. It's his first home run since April 27, a stretch of 11 games without one, but he's now up to eight on the season with a .275/.342/.500 slash line. His 38 RBI on the season make him the minor league leader in that category. The former fourth-overall draft pick still doesn't have a path to playing time with the big league club, but has logged starts at second base and third base in addition to his primary position of shortstop, giving the left-handed slugger some versatility that should help get him to the majors. Look for a call-up around midseason unless an injury opens up something sooner, and his potential power production makes him one of the top prospect stashes for fantasy managers who have the bench space or an NA spot to spare.Source: MiLB.com
Boston Red Sox infield prospect Evan Longoria To Retire As Member Of Rays
Long-time MLB third baseman Evan Longoria is set to officially retire as a member of the Tampa Bay Rays in a ceremony planned for June 7. The 39-year-old last played in 2023 with the Arizona Diamondbacks, whenread more...
Logan Gilbert Has Successful Bullpen On Tuesday
Logan Gilbert (elbow) threw around 25 pitches in his first full-fledged bullpen session on Tuesday, according to The Seattle Times' Adam Jude. Gilbert ramped up the intensity for his final handful of pitches and hit 94-plus mph on the radar gun with no discomfort in his right elbow. It's a big step for Seattle's ace, but he'll probably need another bullpen before being cleared to go on a minor-league rehab assignment. But once the 28-year-old is cleared to pitch in games again, it shouldn't be long before he returns to the major-league bullpen. Barring a setback, Gilbert could be back for fantasy managers by the end of May. The former 14th overall pick should be stashed in an injured-list spot while he recovers and will be a must-start when he returns. In six starts before his injury, Gilbert had a 2.37 ERA, 0.79 WHIP and 44 strikeouts in 30 1/3 innings pitched.Source: The Seattle Times - Adam Jude
Seattle Mariners right-hander Carson Whisenhunt Strikes Out Nine In Seven Shutout Innings
Carson Whisenhunt tossed seven shutout innings on Tuesday for Triple-A Sacramento, allowing three hits and no walks while striking out nine batters. It's the third straight seven-inning start with at least seven strikeouts for the former second-round draft pick, now with a 3.48 ERA, 1.09 WHIP, and a 47:6 K:BB over eight starts (44 IP). The 94 pitches that the lefty threw on Tuesday indicate he's fully stretched out, so at this point, it looks like an opportunity just needs to present itself, and the Giants' second-ranked prospect should be on the way to the majors for a big league debut. Expect that to happen sometime in June, if not sooner. Managers in NL-only leagues could start considering stashing the 6-foot-3 hurler as he's shown marked improvement in command this season (3.4 percent) to go along with a good strikeout rate (26.6 percent).Source: MiLB.com
San Francisco Giants pitching prospect Chris Martin Removed From Tuesday's Outing With "Elbow Tightness"
Texas Rangers right-handed reliever Chris Martin (elbow) left his outing early on Tuesday against the visiting Colorado Rockies with "elbow tightness," according to manager Bruce Bochy. Martin came in for the save opportunity on Tuesday atread more...

Bubba Chandler Strikes Out Eight In Five Shutout Innings On Tuesday
Bubba Chandler threw five scoreless innings on Tuesday, allowing four hits and three walks while striking out eight. It was a good bounce-back outing after allowing three earned runs on five hits and four walks in only 2 2/3 innings his last time out. The performance lowered the 22-year-old's ERA for the season to 1.91 with a 1.00 WHIP and 49 strikeouts over 33 innings pitched. He threw a season-high 86 pitches in the contest, continuing a progression toward a major league workload. The righty began the year as the Pirates' top prospect, and while that is still the case, the former third-round draft pick moved from No.12 overall up to the second-overall prospect in baseball in MLB.com's latest refresh of its Top 100 Prospects list. He remains a top stash candidate in redraft leagues and should make his way to the majors within the next month or so.Source: MiLB.com
Pittsburgh Pirates pitching prospect Drake Baldwin Picks Up First Career Three-Hit Game
Drake Baldwin went 3-for-4 with a home run and two RBI in Tuesday's 5-2 win over the Washington Nationals. He also singled, doubled, and scored thrice in his first-ever three-hit outing. It's not a very big sample, but the 24-year-old is crushing major-league pitchers in his first taste of the bigs. He's batting a cool .329 over his first 70 at-bats, but has been even better across the last week. In six games over that stretch (two starts), Baldwin is a white-hot 9-for-14 (.642) with two doubles, two long balls, five RBI, and four runs scored. If he qualified, the Braves' No. 1 prospect would be among the top 1% of batters in hard-hit rate (66%). He's likely to keep getting at-bats if he continues taking advantage of them.Source: ESPN
Atlanta Braves catcher Jose Siri Back To Baseball Activities
Jose Siri (leg) is progressing more quickly than expected from the broken bone he suffered earlier this season. Siri exited a game in early April when he fouled a ball off his shin. Initial x-rays came back negative, but after further testing, it was revealed he had fractured his tibia. The 29-year-old's early diagnosis had him back in eight to ten weeks from the time of the injury, but it looks like he has a chance to supersede that timetable. While there's no set date for him to begin a rehab assignment, it's undoubtedly excellent news. Teammate Tyrone Taylor has underwhelmed at the dish in his stead with a .234 batting average, but his xBA indicates he's underperforming (.266). Siri was able to do some light jogging in his return to the field.Source: ESPN
Tim Britton of The Athletic reports that New York Mets outfielder Clayton Kershaw Set For Season Debut Saturday
Clayton Kershaw (knee, toe) will make his season debut on Saturday at home against the Los Angeles Angels. The eighteen-year veteran has been stuck on the 60-day IL after undergoing offseason knee and toe surgeries. Kershaw pitched just 30 innings in 2024 while dealing with his toe and an elbow ailment, but has overall looked solid during his time in the minors thus far. It's highlighted by an overpowering six-inning showing in which he allowed no hits and struck out four (one walk). However, it's worth noting that was at the rookie level. He should be a nice aid to LA's rotation, and could be a sneaky boost for fantasy managers if he recaptures his form from 2023.Source: David Vassegh
Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts reports that starting pitcher Roki Sasaki Could Be A Candidate For The IL
Roki Sasaki (arm) experienced arm soreness following his start against the Arizona Diamondbacks last Friday. Roberts noted that the team is "sorting out" whether it will require a trip to the injured list. On the bright side, it doesn't seem to be too severe, but a trip to the IL is an unfavorable outcome regardless -- particularly when his fastball has recently dipped into the low 90s. Sasaki has struggled early on while adjusting to big-league hitting -- that, combined with the recent injury, makes him a risky proposition for the time being. Dodgers pitching coach Mark Prior reported that the team is working on aspects of the right-hander's mechanics, which will hopefully clean up his dreadful 14.3% walk rate. Expect an update on him soon.Source: Fabian Ardaya
