Jack Leiter Logs Seven Innings on Sunday
Jack Leiter tossed seven innings of three-run ball against the Houston Astros on Sunday afternoon. Leiter carried a no-hitter into the seventh inning. However, Astros catcher Yainer Diaz hit a solo shot to end the bid. Then in the eighth, Leiter allowed two singles to Jake Meyers and Cam Smith before exiting the game. Relief pitcher Robert Garcia would then allow a three-run shot to Isaac Paredes, which raised Leiter's ERA. The former second overall pick has shown flashes of dominance this season but has also had several disappointing showings. He has allowed more than four runs twice and allowed three or more walks in three starts. Through 36 total innings, the right-hander carries a 4.25 ERA with a 1.11 WHIP. He will look to continue this strong run against the White Sox in his next outing.
