Frankie Montas has UCL Tear, Could Miss All of 2026
Frankie Montas (elbow) needs surgery to fix a torn UCL in his right elbow, according to Jon Heyman of the New York Post. It remains to be seen if Montas will undergo Tommy John surgery or have an internal-brace procedure, but a full UCL reconstruction is considered "most likely." If the 32-year-old veteran has a full UCL reconstruction, it will most likely keep him out for the entire 2026 campaign. However, Montas will almost certainly exercise his $17 million player option for next year. The Dominican hurler didn't make his 2025 debut until June 24 due to an injury that he suffered in spring training, and he was not effective at all when he did rejoin the Mets. In nine outings for New York, Montas went 3-2 with a 6.28 ERA and 1.60 WHIP with 32 strikeouts in 38 2/3 innings. He will be off the fantasy radar entirely in 2026.
