Astros Bring Back Jon Singleton on Minor-League Deal
Jon Singleton on a minor-league deal, a source told The Athletic's Chandler Rome. Singleton began the year with the Astros before getting released and latching on with the New York Mets on a minor-league deal, where he hit just .213 with 12 home runs, 42 RBI and 37 runs over 55 games for Triple-A Syracuse. The 33-year-old left-handed slugger will now return to Houston, where he spent the entire 2024 season, slashing .234/.321/.386 with a .707 OPS, 13 home runs, 42 RBI an 46 runs scored in 119 games played. For now, he'll likely report to Triple-A Sugar Land and serve as minor-league depth at first base. Singleton began his big-league career with Houston in 2014 and spent two years with the team before joining the Brewers for a short stint. Singleton probably won't get much run in the big leagues if he makes it back up with Christian Walker at first base.
