Arizona Cardinals

Motivation Index: 1 out of 10

With several injuries on the offensive side of the football suffered throughout the season, Arizona enters the regular-season finale on an abysmal eight-game skid. The Cardinals have no real motivation to win this week, but are in play for the second-overall pick of the NFL Draft with a loss and lots of help.

Atlanta Falcons

Motivation Index: 8 out of 10

Atlanta has reeled off three straight wins, most recently toppling the Rams in an impressive performance on Monday Night Football. The Falcons can actually win a share of the NFC South title with a win over the Saints and a Bucs win over the Panthers, though it would be a token accomplishment, as tiebreakers prevent them from making the NFL Playoffs.

With a share of the divisional title in play, the chance to solidify head coach Raheem Morris' standing ahead of 2026, a traditional rivalry against New Orleans, and their 2026 first-round draft pick heading to the Rams, Atlanta will be playing to win this week.

Baltimore Ravens

Motivation Index: 10 out of 10

The stakes are as high as it gets for Baltimore this week, as they face a win-and-in/lose-and-go-home postseason scenario in this Week 18 clash with the divisional-rival Steelers.

Buffalo Bills

Motivation Index: 4 out of 10

The Bills are locked into a Wild Card spot in the playoffs, with seeding being the only real consideration at play for them this week. Buffalo will land somewhere between the No. 5-7 seeds in the AFC, but could know ahead of this game against the Jets if the No. 5 seed is already impossible. Starters and key players could be rested or pulled from the game early.

Carolina Panthers

Motivation Index: 10 out of 10

Carolina can clinch the NFC South title and a playoff berth with a win over the Bucs on Saturday. With a loss, the Panthers would be glued to the Atlanta vs. New Orleans game on Sunday, as they could still qualify for the postseason with a Falcons win thanks to tiebreakers.

Chicago Bears

Motivation Index: 9 out of 10

The upstart Bears have already qualified for the NFL Playoffs and have secured at least the No. 3 seed in the NFC draw. However, Chicago can clinch the No. 2 seed with a win over the Lions in Week 18. Bears head coach Ben Johnson has expressed that his team will be playing to win this week.

Cincinnati Bengals

Motivation Index: 3 out of 10

For some reason, Cincinnati has elected to keep Joe Burrow in action down the stretch, and their superstar quarterback will again be in the starting lineup for this Week 18 tilt with the Cleveland Browns. The outcome of this game has no postseason impact for either team or anyone else in the division. Some Bengals players are chasing personal milestones this week, and they will look to end a disappointing season on a positive note as an organization.

Cleveland Browns

Motivation Index: 1 out of 10

With any postseason aspirations long in the rearview mirror, Cleveland's Week 18 outcome is interesting due to draft implications. The Browns could still land as high as second in the 2026 NFL Draft order with a loss and lots of help, while a win over the Bengals could send them tumbling to the seventh overall pick. Myles Garrett will be chasing the NFL sack record this week.

Dallas Cowboys

Motivation Index: 2 out of 10

Despite already being out of the playoff picture, Dallas will continue to play starters in Week 18. Dak Prescott will be chasing a couple of franchise records, while a win over the Giants would help the Cowboys avoid a losing record for the season. Dallas will land somewhere between the 11th and 18th overall pick in the draft.

Denver Broncos

Motivation Index: 10 out of 10

Sean Payton's squad can clinch the AFC's No. 1 seed and a postseason bye with a win over the Chargers in Week 18. There are some scenarios that could have them drop to the No. 3 seed with a loss against the Bolts. They will be highly motivated to win this divisional matchup.

Detroit Lions

Motivation Index: 4 out of 10

Already eliminated from playoff contention and decimated by injuries, you could argue that Detroit's motivation here should be zero. However, that is not how Dan Campbell has rolled historically, as he's used these sorts of opportunities to instill a never-quit team culture in the past. There's also the rivalry factor against the Bears and the history with Chicago head coach Ben Johnson at play. So while there's little concrete upside for the Lions here, look for them to play hard - at least at the outset of this game.

Green Bay Packers

Motivation Index: 1 out of 10

The Packers are the NFL's only team that's locked into their postseason seeding. Win or lose, the Packers will slot in as the No. 7 seed in the NFC, and we can expect Green Bay to rest many key players as a result of this fact. The only slight motivation will be for individual players - such as Packers QB and upcoming free agent Malik Willis - to put some good things on tape ahead of the 2026 offseason.

Houston Texans

Motivation Index: 10 out of 10

The white-hot Texans are already assured of a playoff spot, though they can clinch the AFC South title with a win over the Colts and a Jacksonville Jaguars loss in Week 18. Houston is looking at playoff seeding between No. 3 to No. 7. This squad enters the regular-season finale riding an eight-game winning streak and will look to keep that positive momentum going into the postseason.

Indianapolis Colts

Motivation Index: 1 out of 10

Indy's Cinderella season reached the pumpkin stage in Week 17, as they were officially eliminated from playoff contention. No longer fighting for the postseason, the Colts will run rookie QB Riley Leonard out against an elite Texans defense in the regular-season finale. With their 2026 first-round pick headed to the Jets via the Sauce Gardner trade, they have no draft slot motivations lingering, which raises their motivation factor slightly above zero.

Jacksonville Jaguars

Motivation Index: 10 out of 10

The Jaguars enter the regular-season finale assured of a spot in the playoffs, but with a wide range of outcomes that includes the potential to steal the AFC's No. 1 seed with a win and some help or fall all the way to the fifth seed with a loss and Houston victory over Indy. Jacksonville is arguably the hottest team in the NFL and has won seven straight. They have every incentive to go all out in this divisional matchup against the lowly Titans.

Kansas City Chiefs

Motivation Index: 1 out of 10

Eliminated from the NFL Playoffs for the first time in a decade, the Chiefs have placed several notable players on IR. They could pick as high as eighth overall in the 2026 NFL Draft with a loss. The lone notable motivation for KC is the possibility that this could be the final game of Travis Kelce's career.

Las Vegas Raiders

Motivation Index: -100 out of 10

We'll go even lower than a zero motivation factor here, as the Raiders lock up the No. 1 pick in the 2026 NFL Draft with a loss. Las Vegas has already placed superstar tight end Brock Bowers on IR, and will likely start Kenny Pickett at quarterback in this "must-lose" matchup for the retooling franchise.

Los Angeles Chargers

Motivation Index: 2 out of 10

With a playoff spot locked up, the Chargers have already announced that Justin Herbert will not play in the regular-season finale against the Broncos. Trey Lance will be under center for L.A., and Harbaugh will rest other key Bolts' starters. Herbert's absence indicates that Jim Harbaugh will play it safe and look to get healthy here.

Los Angeles Rams

Motivation Index: 6 out of 10

The Rams could enter their Week 18 matchup against Arizona locked into the NFC's No. 6 seed, depending on the outcome of Saturday's Niners vs. Seahawks game. However, L.A. head coach Sean McVay has already stated that his starters will be in action following losses in each of their last two. That said, the Rams will have no chance to improve their seeding if the Niners beat the Seahawks on Saturday.

Miami Dolphins

Motivation Index: 4 out of 10

Despite an abysmal 1-6 start to the season, Miami has continued to fight down the stretch. The Dolphins have won four of their last seven, and have focused on evaluating the young talent on their roster, notably rookie quarterback Quinn Ewers, who will get another start in Week 18 after leading the Fins to a win over the Bucs last week. Mike McDaniel is likely still fighting to save his job, and there's little indication that the Dolphins will be giving less than 100% against the divisional rival Patriots here.

Minnesota Vikings

Motivation Index: 5 out of 10

Similar to the aforementioned Dolphins, Minnesota has been eliminated from playoff contention, but continues to play hard down the stretch. The Vikings enter Week 18 at 8-8 and will be motivated to finish the season with a winning record. Minnesota will be facing a Packers squad that is locked into their playoff seeding and will be resting starters.

New England Patriots

Motivation Index: 10 out of 10

The No. 1 seed in the AFC is something of a long shot for the Patriots, but there is a scenario where New England can clinch the top seed with a win over Miami and a Denver Broncos loss or tie against a Chargers squad that's resting starters. Head coach Mike Vrabel has already stated that healthy starters will be playing in Week 18. Drake Maye is squarely in the MVP race, which also qualifies as a notable motivating factor in this one.

New Orleans Saints

Motivation Index: 6 out of 10

The Saints aren't playing for a postseason berth, but should still be hungry to win their Week 18 rivalry game against the Falcons. New Orleans has surprisingly reeled off four straight wins, as first-year head coach Kellen Moore looks for things to build on ahead of 2026. Rookie quarterback Tyler Shough has largely impressed and will attempt to solidify his status as the organization's QB of the future in the regular-season finale.

New York Giants

Motivation Index: 2 out of 10

The Giants still hold a very slim chance of landing the No. 1 overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, though that scenario seems highly unlikely. New York's resounding victory over the Raiders last week indicates that Big Blue is still playing and evaluating its roster ahead of the organization hiring a new head coach this offseason. There's also the rivalry history they have with their Week 18 opponent, the Dallas Cowboys.

New York Jets

Motivation Index: 0 out of 10

Another abysmal season for Gang Green ends with a Week 18 meeting with the Bills. Obviously, this game carries no playoff implications for Gang Green, as the team appears to have been in full-blown tank mode for the past month. There's no reason to believe that strategy changes in the regular-season finale.

Philadelphia Eagles

Motivation Index: 2 out of 10

Philadelphia appears to have waved the white flag on Week 18, as it's being reported that Jalen Hurts and several other key starters will not suit up against the Commanders. Assured of at least the NFC's third seed, the Eagles could still sneak into the No. 2 seed with a win and a Bears loss this week. Backup QB Tanner McKee has proven himself to be a very capable player in limited opportunities and will look to continue putting together strong performances when given a chance.

#Eagles are expected to rest QB Jalen Hurts and most starters in the season finale vs. the Commanders, sources told The Inquirer.

Pittsburgh Steelers

Motivation Index: 10 out of 10

This one is for the whole ball of wax. A Sunday night meeting with the Ravens for the AFC North title and a trip to the playoffs. Pittsburgh will be eliminated from the postseason with a loss.

San Francisco 49ers

Motivation Index: 10 out of 10

It can be overstated how important this Saturday night NFC West matchup is for both squads, as the winner of the Niners vs. Seahawks will determine both the NFC West champion and the NFC's No. 1 seed in the playoffs. For the Niners specifically, they could slip all the way to a No. 6 postseason seed with a loss in Week 18.

Seattle Seahawks

Motivation Index: 10 out of 10

As mentioned above, when discussing the Niners, this is a huge game. The Seahawks can clinch the NFC West crown and a No. 1 seed with a win. Seattle could slip to the fifth seed with a loss to San Francisco.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Motivation Index: 10 out of 10

If the Falcons beat the Saints on Sunday, the outcome of this game actually won't matter, as the Bucs would be eliminated from the playoffs with an Atlanta win. However, with Tampa Bay taking on Carolina on Saturday, both squads will be going all out. The Bucs will be eliminated from postseason contention with a loss to the Panthers.

Tennessee Titans

Motivation Index: 1 out of 10

While it's inarguably been a disastrous season in Nashville, the Titans have shown some fight down the stretch, winning two of their last four, in addition to playing several quality teams tough. With the No. 1 pick in the draft now impossible, Tennessee should continue to battle in this one, though there's nothing to gain with a win.

Washington Commanders

Motivation Index: 2 out of 10

Washington has long been eliminated from postseason play, but their motivation against the Eagles is somewhat hazy this week. A Week 16 loss to Philadelphia left a bad taste in the mouths of the Commanders, according to some media comments made by Dan Quinn.

However, Washington has a wide range of draft pick outcomes based on results around the NFL in Week 18, as they could land from the second overall pick to the seventh overall pick in 2026.
