Shohei Ohtani Pitches One Inning, Records Two Hits
Shohei Ohtani made his first appearance on the mound for the Dodgers on Monday night in Los Angeles, and he also delivered two hits and two RBI as the leadoff hitter in the team's 6-3 victory. He gave up two hits and one run in a 28-pitch first inning. He settled down after back-to-back singles and a sacrifice fly to get out of the inning, but did not have any strikeouts. At the plate, he doubled to drive in a run in the third inning to tie the game at 1-1 and added an RBI single in the fourth inning to finish 2-for-4 with two RBI and a walk. Ohtani is hitting an even .300 with 25 homers, 11 stolen bases, and 43 RBI in his 71 games this season. He'll continue to progress in his throwing program to be able to go deeper into games, while also remaining a key part of the Dodgers' potent lineup. The two-way superstar is officially back to both pitching and hitting, and it will be exciting to watch the many ways he contributes to the Dodgers as they chase the NL West pennant and ultimately try to defend their World Series title.
