Tyler Wells to Return Next Week, Orioles Going to Six-Man Rotation
Tyler Wells (elbow) was outstanding in his final rehab start with Triple-A Norfolk on Wednesday. Wells fired 6 1/3 innings of two-run ball, allowed six hits, and totaled five strikeouts against one walk on 90 pitches (59 strikes). The 31-year-old is in line to make his 2025 Orioles debut next week and take a major league mound for the first time since April 12, 2024. Wells, who owns a career 4.06 ERA in 95 appearances (46 starts), has spent 14 months working back from the UCL surgery he underwent in June 2024. With Wells returning to join fellow starters Trevor Rogers, Tomoyuki Sugano, Kyle Bradish, Cade Povich, and Dean Kremer, the Orioles will finish the season with a six-man rotation, according to interim manager Tony Mansolino. "Nobody will pitch on regular rest the rest of the year," Mansolino announced.
