New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara (ankle) was a limited participant during Wednesday's practice session. Kamara played a season-low 51 percent of the offensive snaps during last week's loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. It's unclear if that was because the game was a blowout or because Kamara was battling this ankle issue. It doesn't sound like something that is going to cause Kamara to sit out in Week 9. However, fantasy managers should check back on Thursday and Friday for more updates. Devin Neal (ankle) would be asked to take over as the lead back if Kamara sits out against the Los Angeles Rams this weekend.--Andy Webb

Memphis Grizzlies forward Santi Aldama (shoulder) is available to play in Wednesday's game against the Phoenix Suns. Aldama was listed as questionable due to left shoulder soreness putting his status in doubt. The 24-year-old forward has played every game for Memphis so far this season, and he has a larger role after the team lost a couple of relevant players in the offseason. Aldama is averaging 10.3 points, 7.0 rebounds, 1.3 steals, and 1.0 blocks in 22 minutes per game. The Grizzlies need him to help the depth, especially in games where former Defensive Player of the Year Jaren Jackson Jr. gets into foul trouble. Phoenix allows the third most points in the league this season to give Aldama a chance at one of his best statistical performances now that he's active.--Joey Haverford

Atlanta Falcons tight end Kyle Pitts Sr. (ankle) was a limited participant during Wednesday's practice session. This is a new injury for Pitts who played 92 percent of the offensive snaps during last week's loss to the Miami Dolphins. During that game, Pitts hauled in all nine of his targets for 59 yards. This limited session sounds like the Falcons are just being cautious with the 25-year-old tight end. Barring any setbacks, Pitts should be out there for the Week 9 matchup against the New England Patriots. Pitts has hauled in 16 receptions for 121 yards over his last two games. There's TE1 value here especially if Drake London (hip) misses another game.--Andy Webb

Pittsburgh Steelers tight end Pat Freiermuth (quad) was unable to take the field during Wednesday's practice. Freiermuth appears to have picked up a quad injury during the Week 8 loss to the Green Bay Packers. He did leave the game in the third quarter, but returned and finished out the contest. That being said, this seems like something Freiermuth can play through, but his status will need to be monitored throughout the week. If he sits, Jonnu Smith and Darnell Washington will become more appealing streaming options for the Week 9 matchup against the Indianapolis Colts.--Andy Webb

Phoenix Suns guard Jalen Green (hamstring) is officially ruled out for Wednesday's game against the Memphis Grizzlies. The questionable tag provided some hope he'd play his first game of the season, but the Suns will miss one of their top scoring options in a forecasted high-scoring affair. Green's hamstring issue has prevented him from suiting up this season to put Phoenix in a tough position with an already limited roster. The 23-year-old averaged 21.0 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 3.4 assists per game last season in Houston. A lackluster postseason led to the Rockets trading him to the Suns. Green is considered day-to-day is a good sign for a return to the court soon. Phoenix's need for more talent should help his fantasy value once he's able to play at full health.--Joey Haverford

Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Jakobi Meyers (knee, toe) was a full participant in practice on Wednesday. Meyers sat out of the Week 7 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs due to a knee issue. He appears to be ready to go in Week 9 after resting up during the bye week. Meyers has been a hot name on the trade market recently, but the Raiders have stated they want a strong return for the 28-year-old wideout. Meyers hasn't exactly impressed recently, with four receptions or fewer in each of his last four games. Fantasy managers should consider Meyers a possible WR3 for the upcoming Week 9 matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars.--Andy Webb

Chicago Bears wide receiver DJ Moore (hip, groin) was absent during Wednesday's practice session. Unsurprisingly, Moore sat out practice to begin the week while he deals with a few nagging injuries. This seems more like a rest day than anything else for the veteran wideout. The Bears are banged up right now with Rome Odunze (heel), Luther Burden III (concussion), and Olamide Zaccheaus (knee) all missing Wednesday's practice as well. These seem like minor issues for Moore, so he figures to be ready for the Week 9 matchup against the Cincinnati Bengals. He could have an expanded role if some of his fellow wideouts are unable to play.--Andy Webb

San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Ricky Pearsall (knee) was unable to practice on Wednesday. Pearsall continues struggling to recover from a knee issue that has kept him sidelined since he suffered the injury Week 4. The 49ers haven't given a clear timetable on Pearsall, but they haven't placed him on the injured reserve. That being said, Pearsall figures to return sooner rather than later. Fantasy managers will need to stay tuned for more updates throughout the week. However, the fact Pearsall isn't even limited in practice isn't a good sign heading into the Week 9 matchup against the New York Giants.--Andy Webb

San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy (toe) was a limited participant during Wednesday's practice session. Head coach Kyle Shanahan said earlier that Purdy was slated to be limited on Wednesday. It sounds like this was the plan for Purdy as works his way back from a turf toe injury. An issue that sidelined him for every game besides two coming into Week 9. It's worth noting that backup quarterback Mac Jones (knee) was a full participant on Wednesday. Jones figures to draw another start versus the New York Giants this weekend, assuming Purdy is unable to play. Fantasy managers will need to wait and see what Purdy does in practice over the next few days. If active, Purdy should reclaim his starting gig and be a QB1 for this weekend.--Andy Webb

Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Josh Downs (hip) didn't take the field for Wednesday's practice session. Downs sat out in Week 7 due to a concussion, but made his return to the field last weekend. He hauled in all three of his targets for 39 yards with a touchdown in the win over the Tennessee Titans. It's worth noting that Downs was on the field for a season-high 64 percent of the offensive snaps last weekend. When healthy, Downs appears to be earning more playing time in Indy. Fantasy managers should monitor his status throughout the week. Downs should be able to offer flex value for the Week 9 matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers.--Andy Webb

Green Bay Packers running back Josh Jacobs (calf) was a limited participant during Wednesday's practice session. This is the second week in a row that Jacobs has dealt with this lingering calf issue. He was able to suit up for Sunday's game against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Jacobs struggled on the ground as he rushed for 33 yards on 13 attempts, but did find the end zone. Barring any setbacks, Jacobs figures to be ready to go for the Week 9 matchup against the Carolina Panthers. Despite a sluggish game last weekend, Jacobs needs to be plugged in as a RB1.--Andy Webb

Sacramento Kings guard Keon Ellis (shoulder) is officially available to play on Wednesday evening against the Chicago Bulls. There was some concern over his status due to a nagging left shoulder injury and the timing of the second half of a back-to-back slate. Sacramento will have Ellis suiting up and hoping to build off his best performance of the season last night against the Oklahoma City Thunder. The 25-year-old currently averages 7.8 points, 2.0 rebounds, and 2.0 steals per game in 19 minutes coming off the bench. Kings coach Doug Christie is still figuring out his rotation with a lot of talent on the roster to limit his ceiling. Ellis does still provide some value for a bench player, especially via his steals since only seven players currently average more than him.--Joey Haverford

Denver Broncos wide receiver Marvin Mims Jr. (concussion) is in the league's concussion protocol and was unable to practice on Wednesday, according to Mike Klis of 9 News in Denver. Mims suffered a concussion in last Sunday's blowout win over the Dallas Cowboys and is now in danger of missing his first game of the 2025 season in Week 9 versus the Houston Texans. He will first need to get back on the practice field on Thursday or Friday, but even if he does, Mims could be facing an uphill battle to get cleared by an independent neurologist ahead of Sunday's contest. The 23-year-old has so far been overshadowed by second-year wideout Troy Franklin in Denver's offense. If Mims is active, he'll continue to be a boom-or-bust flex option for fantasy managers. Mims has only two games with double-digit, half-PPR points through eight weeks and has scored just once.--Keith Hernandez

Dallas Mavericks centers Dereck Lively II (knee) and Daniel Gafford (ankle) will remain out for Wednesday's game against the Indiana Pacers. Both are working their way back and trending in the right direction. Unfortunately, Lively and Gafford will miss another contest. The Mavericks won't play again until Saturday versus the visiting Pistons, so there's a chance at least one of them will be back. Anthony Davis (Achilles) has been cleared and will handle most of the work underneath the basket. P.J. Washington will also see some action at the five, with D'Angelo Russell and Max Christie in line to gain more minutes and scoring opportunities from off the bench.--Dennis Clausen

Denver Nuggets forward Cameron Johnson (shoulder) is available for Wednesday evening's game against the New Orleans Pelicans. Johnson is the biggest addition from the recent major offseason changes, but he's struggled in the early season and recently suffered a minor shoulder injury. The 29-year-old left Monday's game in a victory against the Minnesota Timberwolves. Fantasy owners should be happy that Johnson is not missing any time and is expected to continue holding his role in the starting lineup. Unfortunately, the role player is averaging just 8.3 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 1.7 assists per game so far in a new lineup. Denver hopes to get more out of Johnson as one of the best corner shooters in the league. The Pelicans' defense gives up 14 three-pointers per game to provide some fantasy upside for a sharpshooter benefiting from Nikola Jokic's passing.--Joey Haverford

Dallas Mavericks forward/center Anthony Davis (Achilles) will play on Wednesday night versus the Indiana Pacers. It's not uncommon to see AD on the injury report. However, unlike many times in the past, he is good to go. The 32-year-old has played as well as expected during the 2025 campaign, averaging 25.0 points, 11.8 rebounds, 1.8 steals, and 1.5 blocks. With Dereck Lively II (knee) and Daniel Gafford (ankle) still sidelined, Davis will likely spend most of his time at the five, which isn't good news for Isaiah Jackson, Tony Bradley, Pascal Siakam, and Jay Huff. P.J. Washington may also see more work underneath the basket, with D'Angelo Russell and Max Christie in line to see a bump in minutes and scoring opportunities from off the bench.--Dennis Clausen

Atlanta Hawks forward Zaccharie Risacher (ankle) has been cleared to play in Wednesday night's road game versus the Brooklyn Nets. Risacher has missed two of the last three games and only registered 20 minutes in his recent game against the Chicago Bulls. A right ankle sprain has limited the second-year player hoping to prove the Hawks right for selecting him as the top pick of the 2024 draft class. Risacher is averaging a disappointing nine points and one rebound in just 21 minutes per game. The 20-year-old is shooting 44% from the field and a woeful 25% from three-point range, but the hope is better for health and more consistent minutes to boost his fantasy value. Risacher does have an enticing matchup against the Nets' league-worst defense to provide some optimism starting tonight.--Joey Haverford

Atlanta Hawks forward Jalen Johnson (ankle) is listed as active for Wednesday night's game against the Brooklyn Nets. Johnson was initially listed as probable, but he's been battling a right ankle sprain that forced him to miss one game so far during a back-to-back. Atlanta has seen the 23-year-old become a bright spot during a tough start to the season. Johnson is currently averaging 19 points, seven rebounds, four assists, and just under two steals per game through three games played. Brooklyn is giving up the most points per game in the NBA at 130.5 to provide extra value for him in a great matchup. Kristaps Porzingis and Trae Young average more points than the talented forward, but the Nets give up enough points for all three to have peak fantasy value on Wednesday.--Joey Haverford

Los Angeles Chargers wide receiver Ladd McConkey (calf) is on the team's Week 9 injury report and was a limited participant in Wednesday's practice with a calf injury. McConkey played a season-low 58% of the offensive snaps in last Thursday night's blowout victory over the Minnesota Vikings, but he still managed a team-high 10 targets and caught six passes for 88 yards and a touchdown. The 23-year-old should have a good chance to play in Week 9 in a plus matchup against the Tennessee Titans on the road, but his status bears watching heading into Sunday's game. The former second-rounder has bounced back after a slow start to his second season in the NFL, catching 27 of his 41 targets for 294 yards and three touchdowns in his last four games. If McConkey is active against the Titans on Sunday, he needs to be in all starting fantasy football lineups.--Keith Hernandez

Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Brian Thomas Jr. (shoulder) is not fully healthy coming out of the team's bye week, as he was limited in the first practice of the week on Wednesday. Thomas injured his shoulder in the Week 7 loss to the Los Angeles Rams in London and is still nursing the injury despite having last week's bye to heal up. He was seen wearing a harness on his shoulder at Wednesday's practice. While Thomas figures to be on the right side of questionable for this weekend's game against the Las Vegas Raiders, his status is worth monitoring heading into Sunday's contest. Through seven games, the former first-round pick is in the midst of the dreaded sophomore slump, and rookie first-rounder Travis Hunter could be ready to take over WR1 duties in Jacksonville for the second half of the season. The 23-year-old Thomas has scored just one touchdown in 2025 and has only had double-digit half-PPR points in two of his seven games.--Keith Hernandez

Philadelphia Flyers goaltender Samuel Ersson (undisclosed) missed Wednesday's practice, putting his status in doubt for Thursday's affair against the Nashville Predators. "He warmed up and he tweaked something," Flyers head coach Rick Tocchet said Wednesday. "It's a day-to-day thing. We'll re-evaluate [Thursday]. I don't think it's major. Just kind of tweaked something." Ersson has started the last two games for Philadelphia, winning both and bringing his season record to 2-1-1. He has a goals-against average of 3.08 and a save percentage of .876. Losing Ersson would be a blow for the Flyers, but they have another capable goaltender in Dan Vladar, who has actually been in better form this season. The Czech netminder holds a 3-2-0 record, with a goals-against average of 1.81 and a save percentage of .932.--Taavi Pailk

Buffalo Sabres forward Jordan Greenway (lower body) is expected to make his season debut on Thursday versus the Boston Bruins. The power forward has been practicing since Oct. 14 and is now ready for game action. During Wednesday's practice, Greenway skated with Jason Zucker and Jack Quinn. The two wingers have scored a combined 12 points this season, and their good form may help Greenway make a productive start to his campaign. Last season, Greenway had a minimal offensive impact, recording only eight points (three goals and five assists) in 34 contests.--Taavi Pailk

Jovan Buha of the Athletic reports that Los Angeles Lakers center Jaxson Hayes (knee) will be available to suit up on Wednesday versus the Minnesota Timberwolves. Hayes had missed three consecutive contests due to a knee issue. The 25-year-old's return gives the Lakers some frontcourt depth as Maxi Kleber (oblique) is still out with a left oblique strain. However, with Deandre Ayton healthy, Hayes has little to no fantasy value going into this evening's matchup.--Andrew Lennox

Vancouver Canucks right wing Conor Garland (undisclosed) will miss Thursday's clash against the St. Louis Blues, Patrick Johnstone of The Province reports. Garland was hurt in Tuesday's meeting with the New York Rangers and has stayed behind as the team begins a three-game road trip. Although the team has struggled, Garland has made a nice start to the season, scoring 11 points (three goals, eight assists) in 11 games. With his absence, the Canucks will need to adjust their top line and first power-play unit. Kiefer Sherwood may have a larger role until Garland returns.--Taavi Pailk

The San Diego Padres interviewed future Hall of Famer Albert Pujols on Tuesday for a second time for their vacant managerial position, according to Kevin Acee of The San Diego Union-Tribune. Pujols, who was unable to agree on a deal to become the next manager of the Los Angeles Angels this offseason, is now one of the finalists for the Padres' job, along with pitching coach Ruben Niebla and bench coach Brian Esposito. The Padres are looking for new leadership after previous manager Mike Shildt stepped down following the team's loss to the Chicago Cubs in the National League wild-card series in early October. Pujols has no managerial experience, but he will serve as the manager for the Dominican Republic in the 2026 World Baseball Classic.--Keith Hernandez

Vancouver Canucks defenseman Quinn Hughes (lower body) won't play on Thursday against the St. Louis Blues, Patrick Johnstone of The Province reports. The Canucks captain will not travel with the team for the road game, marking his third consecutive absence. Hughes could be an option to return to the lineup later during the team's three-game road trip. In nine outing this season, Hughes has posted seven points (one goal, six assists). In his absence, Marcus Pettersson has joined the first defensive pairing, while Filip Hronek is skating with the first power-play unit.--Taavi Pailk

Toronto Blue Jays designated hitter George Springer (side) is out of the starting lineup again on Wednesday night for Game 5 of the World Series against the hosting Los Angeles Dodgers and left-hander Blake Snell. Although Springer has reportedly made good progress since injuring his right side on a swing in the loss in Game 3 on Monday night in L.A., he will miss his second straight game. Infielder Bo Bichette is the DH and will bat third for Toronto, while Isiah Kiner-Falefa will start at the keystone and hit in the eight-hole against Snell as the Blue Jays look to take a 3-2 lead in the best-of-seven series. Springer will be available off the bench for the second straight game, but it remains to be seen if he'll be able to play again in the World Series. Bichette has gone just 2-for-11 in his career against Snell, while Kiner-Falefa is 0-for-3 with a walk and two K's against the lefty.--Keith Hernandez

Chicago White Sox first baseman Tim Elko (knee) had successful surgery on Tuesday to fix a torn ACL in his right knee, according to Scott Merkin of MLB.com. Elko is expected to be out for eight months, according to the team. The 26-year-old missed three weeks this summer with what was being called a right-knee sprain. He struggled at the plate in his debut season in the majors in 2025, going 9-for-67 (.194) with four home runs, eight RBI, five walks, and 30 strikeouts in 72 plate appearances over 23 games played, but his knee injury certainly played a part. Elko will now miss the first half of the 2025 season and can be ignored in redraft leagues next spring. Before getting the call to the big leagues, he hit .292/.357/.552 with a .910 OPS, 26 home runs, and 70 RBI in 96 games for Triple-A Charlotte.--Keith Hernandez

Utah Mammoth center Logan Cooley has agreed to an eight-year, $80 million contract extension. The 21-year-old is finishing off his entry-level contract and will become the Mammoth's highest-paid player next season. After producing 65 points (25 goals, 40 assists) a season ago, Cooley has become a point-per-game player in 2025-26. With 11 games played, he has notched a team-high eight goals and four assists. Cooley is set to be a valuable asset for the Utah team and fantasy managers for many years to come.--Taavi Pailk

Columbus Blue Jackets defenseman Erik Gudbranson (hip) will remain sidelined for Wednesday's clash against the Toronto Maple Leafs, Jeff Svoboda of the Blue Jackets' official site reports. He exited the lineup on Tuesday against the Buffalo Sabres after experiencing hip soreness during warmups. Gudbranson also recently missed time because of a lower-body injury and has made only four appearances this season. He has recorded five hits but no points. Jake Christiansen has entered the lineup as Gudbranson's replacement. He has gone scoreless in five outings this season, posting four hits.--Taavi Pailk
