It's Unclear Whether Josh Berry's 1.5-Mile Oval Speed Will Transfer to Michigan, but It Looks Likely
June 8, 2025
Front Row Motorsports driver Zane Smith acquired a starting position of 10th after qualifying for this week's FireKeepers Casino 400 at Michigan International Speedway. This is the first time ever in his Cup career that Smith will start a race at the site inside the top 10. In his only previous race at Michigan in the Cup Series last year as a rookie, Smith started 27th and finished seventh, collecting plenty of place differential upside. He is also a former Truck Series winner at Michigan in August 2020. After 14 races so far this season, Smith has nine top-20 finishes and an average finish of 19.9. In practice, Smith ranked 26th in overall lap averages and 17th in five consecutive lap averages. Despite his overall positive past history at Michigan, Smith is one of the riskier options in this salary range due to his lower upside from his starting position. There are other drivers around $6,400 or cheaper on DraftKings who are better to recommend than Smith, who is only usable as a value pivot option in tournament lineups.--Sean Engel - RotoBaller
