Jordan Hicks Struggles in Triple-A Rehab Start
Jordan Hicks (toe) struggled Sunday in his first rehab outing with Triple-A Worcester. Hicks, working as an opener for Worcester, was unable to get through an inning. He recorded two outs and allowed two earned runs on three hits and a walk. He was then lifted after 23 pitches, only 10 of which were strikes. Hicks, who's working back from inflammation in his right big toe, figures to make at least one more appearance with Worcester before joining the Red Sox. When he does get the call to Boston, he'll be making his debut with the club. The Red Sox acquired Hicks from the San Francisco Giants on June 15 as part of a trade centering on Rafael Devers. Hicks divided his time with the Giants this season between the rotation and bullpen. He's likely to work in relief for the Red Sox.
