Dynasty Fantasy Football Buy or Sell: Javonte Williams, Raheem Mostert, Evan Engram

Javonte Williams - Fantasy Football Rankings, NFL Injury News, DFS and Betting Picks

John Johnson breaks down whether you should buy or sell these running backs and tight end in dynasty fantasy football formats: Javonte Williams, Raheem Mostert, and Evan Engram. Read the dynasty fantasy football trade advice.

Dallas Cowboys running back Javonte Williams, Las Vegas Raiders running back Raheem Mostert, and Denver Broncos tight end Evan Engram are three players who were recently signed to new teams during free agency.

Any time a player moves to a new team, it's worth re-evaluating their dynasty fantasy football value and comparing it to what the going rate is on the current market. Each dynasty league has different managers with different temperaments, so obviously things won't be the same across all leagues.

But depending on various factors, sometimes it isn't a good idea to just let players sit on your roster. In addition, you may be wondering if any of these guys are worth making a move for and if it will pay off for their going rate. So, let's dive into a dynasty buy or sell analysis for Williams, Mostert, and Engram ahead of the 2025 NFL season.

Javonte Williams, RB, Dallas Cowboys

Williams' knee injury likely destroyed any upside he had. He's looked sluggish with the ball in his hands, struggling to break tackles and make defenders miss, and the flaws in his game have been laid bare by his inability to compensate for them with sheer athleticism. He doesn't look much like the promising fantasy player he did in 2022.

It's puzzling to see how terrible some of his games were last season. He really brings nothing to the table unless he's given wide open spaces to run. Backs like that should be ignored in all leagues. Let someone else make the mistake of carrying an RB that doesn't do anything when presented with trouble at the line of scrimmage (hint: don't draft Kaleb Johnson).

Williams only seemed to produce when the defense didn't show up to play, when he got lucky touchdowns, or when he got a bunch of undeserved targets when Broncos head coach Sean Payton decided to try to scheme him into the offense.

He was a forced missed tackle machine in past seasons, but that was all before his injury. It's not like he hasn't had time to recover, either. He injured his knee early in the 2022 season, and he had over two years to get better.

The knee could just be destroyed, because his 2024 form was basically his 2023 form. Devastating multi-ligament knee injuries have a way of ruining careers.

Also, the Cowboys will probably draft an RB at some point. This is a stacked class. Try to get rid of Williams before that happens.

Verdict: Sell, if you can get anything at all for him, because he is cooked.

Raheem Mostert, RB, Las Vegas Raiders

Mostert's birthday is April 9. He'll have been 33 for quite some time before the 2025 NFL season starts. And with their first-round pick in the draft, it seems that the Raiders are poised to select running back Ashton Jeanty. He should immediately become the workhorse RB in this backfield, easily supplanting the aging Mostert, who had a fumbling issue last season.

We should probably assume his 2023 was a fluke, and that former Miami Dolphins offensive linemen Robert Hunt and Connor Williams, two of the best run-blockers in the league that season, were the driving forces behind it.

You can see it on tape, though it's not a popular thing to say, because it's more interesting to people to pretend the running backs are doing everything on their own, and it's apparently "disrespectful" to say RBs are carried to their big seasons by the offensive line. But it was true.

The Raiders don't have nearly as talented an OL, and Mostert seems like little more than a heavily part-time player without a ton of upside that won't see the field much unless the future Raiders RB1 goes down with an injury.

There isn't much value to be had here, but perhaps whoever selects Jeanty in rookie drafts will want an insurance policy for him and is willing to give up a younger player or a late-round rookie draft pick. You should take whatever offers you can get.

Verdict: Sell

Evan Engram, TE, Denver Broncos

Engram joins quarterback Bo Nix and head coach Sean Payton in a very solid offense, and he gets a nice new contract to show for it. Engram isn't a great blocker, so there could be issues with his playing time at some point, but if Denver struggles to run the ball like they did in 2024, the team could opt to pass much more.

Engram doesn't have much target competition right now, with WR Courtland Sutton being the team's only consistently solid pass-catcher last season.

But the Broncos likely saw the lack of depth at the wide receiver position and planned on using their first-round pick on something other than a tight end, so the signing of Engram makes sense.

Nix had a nice, productive rookie season. He was adept at avoiding sacks and seemed to improve as the season went on. Of course, Payton is known for authoring explosive passing offenses in New Orleans with his former quarterback, Drew Brees, so this is a good landing spot for Engram.

Engram should see a nice target share immediately, and Payton seems to be already scheming up ways to get him involved early and often. Payton had quite a bit of praise for him, and while the contract he was handed was surprisingly large, it's their true vote of confidence.

Often, offenses are only as good as their second or third receiver, and given how badly Denver flopped in their first playoff game against the Buffalo Bills, it's good to see them address this priority.

This wide receiver class isn't very strong, and it could be that Denver recognizes this and isn't planning on investing premium draft capital at the position. This could make Engram the de facto WR2 on his offense. He's unlikely to repeat his TE2 season from 2023, as he was working as the WR1 at that point with the Jacksonville Jaguars.

However... He's still ranked inside the top-11 tight ends according to FantasyPros dynasty fantasy football rankings, so it's hard to recommend buying him. Instead, you're probably better off holding him if you don't have any other answers at the position, or trading him away if you can get a solid deal for him and you have a backup plan.

So I'd recommend doing this. He should still have some good seasons ahead of him, but his best days are likely in the past, and selling hopium to other fantasy managers is always a good plan.

Verdict: Sell or Hold
