When Is Owen Caissie Getting Called Up? Fantasy Baseball Prospect Outlook (Week 20 Update)

Owen Caissie - Fantasy Baseball Prospects Rankings, Draft Sleepers, MLB Call-Ups

When is Owen Caissie getting called up? Will Caissie get promoted in August 2025? Read about this top fantasy baseball prospect outlook heading into Week 20.

The Chicago Cubs have gotten off to a slow start in August. Several of their top hitters, such as right fielder Kyle Tucker and center fielder Pete Crow-Armstrong, have been in a cold stretch at the plate, which has slowed down the team's offensive output.

With their eyes focused on competing in October, they could look to promote their top prospect, outfielder Owen Caissie, in hopes of sparking the club.

Should fantasy managers continue to stash Caissie on their bench? When should fantasy managers expect him to get the call? Let's dive in!

Owen Caissie Prospect Update for Fantasy Baseball

During their victory on Wednesday evening in Toronto, catcher Miguel Amaya suffered an ankle injury and is expected to be placed on the injured list. In a corresponding move, the Cubs are expected to promote Caissie to the MLB roster, according to Jessee Rogers of ESPN.

Caissie has been one of the most outstanding hitters at the Triple-A level this season. He has spent the entire season with the Iowa Cubs, holding a .289/.389/.566 slash line with 26 doubles, 22 home runs, three stolen bases, and a 114:53 K:BB.

During the 2024 season, he also spent the entire campaign with Triple-A and flashed just as much upside, holding a .278/.375/.472 line with 29 doubles and 19 round-trippers.

Owen Caissie Outlook for Fantasy Baseball

Given his high offensive production at Triple-A, Caissie is worth picking up in all 12-team five-outfielder formats before his MLB debut. However, fantasy managers in shallower leagues should add him with caution, as he may not be given a full-time role given the crowded nature of their outfield.

While Tucker, Crow-Armstrong, and left fielder Ian Happ have all struggled to generate offense this month, it is hard to imagine one of them will be demoted to a bench role.

In addition, Seiya Suzuki continues to serve as the everyday DH and does not appear to be in any danger of losing at-bats. As a result, Caissie will likely rotate in left field with Happ and occasionally see starts in right field when Tucker serves as the DH.

His upside is worth adding in 12-team leagues, but he may have to earn his opportunities, given the crowded outfield. Fantasy managers in shallow formats should leave him on waivers for the time being.
