Injury Status: Healthy

The Chicago White Sox announced on Friday that they reinstated catcher Kyle Teel (ankle) from the 10-day injured list and optioned catcher Drew Romo to Triple-A Charlotte in a corresponding move. Fantasy managers will want to check back a bit later on Friday to see if Teel is immediately back in Chicago's starting lineup for Friday's contest at home against the division-rival Minnesota Twins and right-hander Zebby Matthews. In six minor-league rehab games, Teel went 7-for-22 at the plate with a home run and a double. He will be rejoining the big-league squad after landing on the IL early in the second half of the season due to a sprained left ankle. Injuries have limited the 24-year-old former first-rounder by the Boston Red Sox to just 19 games and 63 at-bats in 2026 in his second year in the big leagues with the Pale Hose. In those 19 games, Teel has gone just 12-for-63 (.190) with two home runs, 14 RBI, nine runs scored, six walks, and 27 strikeouts. Despite the poor start in a limited sample size, Teel should play regularly down the stretch and has more offensive upside than the other catcher on Chicago's big-league roster, Jake Rogers.

FANTASY OUTLOOK by Mike Schwarzenbach
Kyle Teel 2026 Fantasy Baseball Outlook: Out 4-to-6 Weeks with Hamstring Strain, Looking For Sustained Success In Year Two
Chicago White Sox catcher Kyle Teel (hamstring) had a successful half season in the Majors last year and will look to carry that momentum into the 2026 campaign. In 78 MLB games, Teel batted .273 with eight homers, 38 runs, 35 RBI, and three stolen bases. More impressively, he had a 12.5% walk rate, which helped him post a .375 on-base percentage that ranked second among all catchers with at least 100 plate appearances. Teel posted double-digit walk rates at every minor league level, so he should get a boost in fantasy leagues that reward walks or OBP. From a batted-ball perspective, Teel checks all the boxes fantasy players love. His 9.6% barrel-rate was well above league average, and he ranked in the 91st percentile in pull-air rate. The downside to Teel is simply his situation. The White Sox are not a great lineup, and Teel will need to split catching duties with Edgar Quero, who was a highly rated catching prospect in his own right. Playing time questions and the possibility of a sophomore slump make Teel a risky bet inside the top 200 picks in fantasy. However, if he slips past that average draft position, he does offer intriguing upside as a low-end starter in one-catcher leagues. Update 3/11/26: Teel suffered a hamstring strain during the World Baseball Classic's win over Team Italy and will be out four to six weeks. He will miss the first weeks of the regular season and should return toward the end of April. Despite the injury, Teel is still worth the gamble in the later rounds of fantasy drafts in deep or two-catcher leagues.less...
