Chris Taylor Signs With Angels, to Start on Monday
Chris Taylor signed an undisclosed deal with the Los Angeles Angels on Monday and will start in center field and bat eighth in his debut with the team for the series opener against the visiting New York Yankees and left-hander Ryan Yarbrough, sources tell The Athletic's Ken Rosenthal. In a corresponding move, the Angels optioned infielder Kyren Paris to Triple-A Salt Lake. The Dodgers released Taylor after 10 seasons with the team, but he quickly has latched on with the crosstown Angels and will start immediately on Memorial Day. The 34-year-old veteran swings and misses a lot and has a high strikeout rate, but he could play regularly with the Halos, making him immediately attractive in AL-only leagues. In 28 games with the Dodgers before being released, Taylor went 7-for-35 (.200) with no homers, two RBI and 13 punchouts.
