2026 John Deere Classic betting and fantasy golf preview with key stats, TPC Deere Run course breakdown, field analysis, and TV times for this week’s PGA Tour event.
The PGA TOUR heads to Silvis, Illinois, this week for the John Deere Classic at TPC Deere Run. The tournament features a 144-player field with a traditional 36-hole cut as players compete in one of the final events before the season's final major championship.
The John Deere Classic marks the final PGA TOUR event in the United States before the TOUR heads overseas for the Genesis Scottish Open and, the following week, The Open Championship. It also represents one of the final opportunities for players still chasing a spot in the year's final major through the Open Qualifying Series.

John Deere Classic - Course/Tournament History
TPC Deere Run, located in Silvis, Illinois, was established in 1999 and designed by former PGA Tour professional D.A. Weibring. The course is set along the Rock River, offering picturesque views and a blend of natural landscapes, including wooded areas, rolling hills, and lush fairways. The signature hole, the par-3 16th, features a dramatic downhill shot to a green surrounded by water, making it a favorite among players and spectators alike.
The John Deere Classic has been held annually at TPC Deere Run since 2000. Originally known as the Quad Cities Open, the tournament began in 1971 as a “satellite event” for the PGA Tour and became an official PGA Tour event a year later. The tournament has undergone several name changes and title sponsors over the years, including Miller Brewing Company (1982–85), Hardee’s (1986–94), and John Deere (since 1999).
Traditionally held in July, the John Deere Classic is well-regarded for its community involvement and charitable contributions. The tournament is part of the “Birdies for Charity” program, which has raised millions of dollars for local and regional charities. The event has also been a pivotal platform for emerging talent, with several young golfers achieving their first PGA Tour victories here.
One of the tournament’s highlights is the “John Deere Classic Charter,” a special charter flight that transports players directly to the British Open immediately following the conclusion of the event, ensuring that top competitors can participate in both tournaments seamlessly.
Notable champions of the John Deere Classic include Jordan Spieth, who secured his first PGA Tour win here in 2013 at the age of 19, and Steve Stricker, who won the event three consecutive times from 2009 to 2011. Michelle Wie was also given a sponsor’s exemption in 2005 and 2006.
After the John Deere Classic wrapped up in 2021, TPC Deere Run underwent a major renovation. The $1.8 million project involved new tee boxes on the 1st hole, the reconfiguration of numerous bunkers, and a better drainage system for the course.
Heading into this year's tournament, players will see a noticeable change on the par-4 4th hole, which underwent a significant renovation. A hawthorn tree that once sat in the middle of the fairway has been removed, several new fairway bunkers have been added to reshape the preferred landing areas, and a new tee box has extended the hole from 454 yards to 492 yards.

John Deere Classic - Course Guide/ Scorecard
Originally designed by D. A. Weibring and opened in 2000, TPC Deere Run is a par 71 layout featuring four par 3s, eleven par 4s, and three par 5s.
TPC Deere Run measures 7,327 yards, ranking as the 20th shortest of the 44 courses on the PGA TOUR schedule, placing it almost exactly at the TOUR average in length. The fairways are among the widest players will see all season, averaging more than 36 yards wide and ranking as the ninth widest on TOUR. Despite the generous landing areas, accuracy has historically been more valuable than pure distance. Players who consistently find the fairway give themselves ideal angles into the small green complexes and create far more birdie opportunities.
The greens are one of the course's defining characteristics. Averaging approximately 5,500 square feet, they rank as the 12th smallest on the PGA TOUR. That places a significant emphasis on approach play, as players who consistently hit greens in regulation will separate themselves from the field. Those who miss their targets will need a reliable short game, as scrambling is often the difference between maintaining momentum and dropping shots.
Bunkers are present throughout the property, but are not the course's primary defense. TPC Deere Run features just 78 bunkers, which is around the TOUR average. Instead, the layout challenges players through strategic positioning, changing elevation, sloping fairways, doglegs, and demanding approach angles that reward thoughtful course management.
Water hazards come into play on only three holes, one of the fewest totals on the PGA TOUR. While water is rarely a deciding factor, players still must avoid costly mistakes, as the winning score typically requires aggressive golf and plenty of birdie opportunities.
Overall, TPC Deere Run is viewed as one of the more scoreable venues on TOUR, with winning scores frequently reaching 20 under par or better. However, the course is far from one-dimensional. Its rolling terrain, elevation changes, strategic design, and premium on precision reward complete players who can consistently put themselves in position to attack the flag.

John Deere Classic - Notable Par 3s
TPC River Highlands’ par 3s range from 158 to 226 yards. Last year, all of the par 3s had a scoring average over par except for Hole No. 3.
Hole 3 | 'Stone House' | Par 3 | 186 Yards | 2025 Stroke Average: 2.98 (Difficulty Rank - 7)
This uphill Par 3 will play much longer than it reads on the scorecard. A set of bunkers guard the right side, and the green runs from front to back.
Hole 7 | 'Timber Ridge' | Par 3 | 226 Yards | 2025 Stroke Average: 3.041 (Difficulty Rank - 5)
This is the longest of the 3 pars on the course, and the most picturesque. Into the normal prevailing wind, this hole will test the accuracy of even the best players.
Hole 12 | 'Master Stroke' | Par 3 | 215 Yards | 2025 Stroke Average: 3.073 (Difficulty Rank - 4)
A long par 3 through a tree-lined fairway to a well-bunkered green. This is one of the bigger greens on the course… but don’t miss it, there is trouble all around it.
Hole 16 | 'Mother Earth' | Par 3 | 158 Yards | 2025 Stroke Average: 3.034 (Difficulty Rank - 6)
Most likely, the “Signature Hole. To the left is the Rock River and all the perils it commands. It may be short, but it is dangerous.
John Deere Classic - Notable Par 4s
There are ten Par 4s at TPC Deere Run, with the majority of those holes ranging between 400 and 500 yards. No. 6 is the shortest, listed at 367 yards, with the longest being No. 9, playing 503 yards. In terms of scoring average last season, the toughest par 4 at the TPC Deere Run was the 9th hole.
Hole 6 | 'William Butterworth' | Par 4 | 367 Yards | 2025 Stroke Average: 3.863 (Difficulty Rank - 12)
The second-shortest par 4 on the course is also the tightest. This hole was carved out of the forest, and while short on length, it is long on danger.
Hole 11 | 'Jump Start' | Par 4 | 432 Yards | 2025 Stroke Average: 3.945 (Difficulty Rank - 8)
The 11th hole is dedicated to the PGA TOUR professionals who notched their first career victory in the Quad Cities from 1971 through 1998.
Hole 14 | 'Deere Run' | Par 4 | 361 Yards | 2025 Stroke Average: 3.795 (Difficulty Rank - 15)
This is the ultimate risk/reward hole. It is drivable but the perils are many. Go for it and miss left and you are in the “valley of sin”.
Hole 18 | 'Conquistador' | Par 4 | 476 Yards | 2025 Stroke Average: 4.235 (Difficulty Rank - 2)
A great finishing hole that will put a premium on driving accuracy. Hit it long and straight to avoid the fairway bunker on the left, but you must keep it on the left side.
John Deere Classic - Notable Par 5s
There are three Par 5s on the course: No. 2, No. 10, and No. 17. All of these holes had a scoring average under par in 2025. Hole No. 17 was the easiest hole on the course last season.
Hole 2 | 'Colonel Davenport'| Par 5 | 561 Yards | 2025 Stroke Average: 4.557 (Difficulty Rank - 17)
A downhill tee shot to a fairway some 50 feet below makes this hole play shorter than its listed length. A good drive, and it should be reachable in two.
Hole 10 | 'Cor-ten'| Par 5 | 596 Yards | 2025 Stroke Average: 4.647 (Difficulty Rank - 16)
The green is very small for a par 5, and there is no room for error on your third shot. Bunkers protect the left side while a pond protects the right.
Hole 17 | 'Stadium' | Par 5 | 569 Yards | 2025 Stroke Average: 4.383 (Difficulty Rank - 18)
The green is elevated slightly with bent grass collection areas all around. Miss the green, and you will have a tough chip to the hole.
