Welcome, RotoBallers, to our H2H points fantasy baseball waiver wire pickups for hitters for Week 13 of the 2025 season. These fantasy baseball waiver wire pickups are for the week of June 23 - June 29, looking at players below ~50 percent rostered on ESPN or Yahoo points leagues.

We'll be doing this points league roundup every week here at RotoBaller because we know points players get neglected, and we're here to help. Player values can vary wildly from platform to platform, so we'll highlight where players are the best and worst fits, with waiver-wire targets being evaluated in terms of the different scoring systems on ESPN, Yahoo, CBS, Fantrax, and NFBC.

Position eligibility is taken from Fantrax, and players are grouped by their most valuable fantasy position, using a hierarchy of C > 2B > OF > 3B > 1B > SS. Stats and rankings are calculated using games through Saturday, June 21.

Waiver Wire Caveats and APR Explanation

Roster% Thresholds

We use a combination of roster percentages to assess who is in our target pool, relying mostly on Yahoo and ESPN. For some players, you'll notice a wide discrepancy between the two. This is because ESPN's roster percentage is heavily weighted by points players, with guys who don't do well in their system (often because of an inflated strikeout rate) lagging behind the Yahoo! roster percentage.

For this reason, you'll sometimes see players (especially early) who might make you question my sanity in including them in a waiver-wire article, but don't worry, it's just a necessary glitch for coverage purposes.

APR stands for "Average Platform Rank" and is the average hitter rank between the four major point platforms: ESPN, Yahoo, CBS, and Fantrax. All player data is from FanGraphs and Baseball Savant, with injury information pulled from the Roster Resource section on the former.

Best Choices

Alec Burleson, STL, 1B/OF (Yahoo: 40%, ESPN: 35%) - His Roster% is rapidly rising, but grab Burleson if he's still out there. The left-hander is the #6 hitter in Week 12 after averaging a 93 APR in the previous two periods. He will have to face two of his fellow lefties in Week 13, but seven games (vs CHC, @CLE) will allow him to compile plenty of PA --  Burleson has now started 15 games in a row, including five vs LHP.

Miguel Vargas, CHW, 1B/3B/OF (Yahoo: 43%, ESPN: 38%) - After weeks of preaching that this might actually be a new (and breaking out) Vargas, it seems his Roster% will soon take him out of this space. If so, farewell, Miguel; praising you always makes me feel less guilty about mocking your teammates. Okay, not really, but anywell, Vargas has a six-game homestand (vs ARI, vs SF), with two LHPs on the schedule.

Romy Gonzalez, BOS, 1B/2B/SS (Yahoo: 2%, ESPN: 1%) - It's rarely a good idea to rely on someone who plays so erratically, but Romy Gonzalez in a week with three left-handed starters (@LAA, vs TOR) might be one of those times. Since coming off the IL on June 1, Gonzalez has only made seven starts. Probably not coincidentally, the Red Sox have faced six left-handed starters over that period.

Gonzalez is going to get at least those three starts, and Boston has a good reason for doing so. Over 46 PA vs LHP this season, Gonzalez is slashing a ridiculous .366/.435/.585, with a .1.020 OPS and .439 wOBA. And those aren't funny numbers -- they're backed by a .331 xBA, .666 xSLG, and .450 xwOBA.

Next Choices

Nolan Schanuel, LAA, 1B (Yahoo: 15%, ESPN: 12%) - Every year, I wonder which player will carry such a ridiculous Roster% that it almost feels personal -- clearly, we have our man in Mr. Schanuel.

Schanuel has an 89 APR for the season, and has averaged right around that over the last six periods (86 APR), but that recent run is even better considering it's weighed down by a #221 finish in Week 9. That outlier aside, he's been nearly a top-50 hitter. And yet, he remains rostered less than Abraham Toro. He'll get six games in Week 13 (vs BOS, vs WSH), with two left-handers on the schedule.

Nathaniel Lowe, TEX, 1B (Yahoo: 42%, ESPN: 21%) - The definition of an unsexy, points-compiler, Lowe isn't going to blow you away with his .688 OPS and .303 wOBA, and yet, here he sits almost halfway through the season with a 97 APR. That's right; .688 OPS + .303 wOBA ='s Top-100 Hitter. Points can be a hell of a ride. Lowe is coming off a top-50 week and gets six games (@SD, @LAA) but none of those pesky left-handers that positively destroy him (.207/.255/.299, 34% K%).

Desperate Choices

Eric Wagaman, MIA, 1B/3B/OF (Yahoo: 3%, ESPN: 4%) - It's never going to be anything special, but Wagaman plays a lot, doesn't strike out much, and is multi-positional. That's a good recipe for a points band-aid and/or bench filler. A top-150 hitter (barely), Wagaman has six games (and one LHP) on the road in Week 13, going to San Francisco and Arizona.

Gavin Sheets, SD, 1B/OF (Yahoo: 31%, ESPN: 18%) - **WARNING! WARNING! THIS IS JUST A PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT TO DRAW ATTENTION TO A DANGEROUS THREAT IN YOUR AREA! DO NOT, WE REPEAT, DO NOT, ACTUALLY STREAM GAVIN SHEETS THIS WEEK!

Sheets has been a top-50 hitter over the past two periods and has been consistently decent pretty much since the start of May. But also, San Diego is set to face five left-handed starters this week and continue to inexplicably use Sheets against them, even though he's one of baseball's worst hitters vs LHP.

On the IL

• Ryan Mountcastle, BAL, 1B (strained hamstring - expected to miss 8-12 weeks)

Jorge Polanco, SEA, 2B (Yahoo: 30%, ESPN: 40%) - Polanco has been fairly meh lately, but gets seven games @MIN, @TEX) against some suspect pitchers, including but not limited to Chris Paddack and Patrick Corbin.

Otto Lopez, MIA, 2B/SS (Yahoo: 8%, ESPN: 7%) - My guy Otto repaid being a Best Choice last week with a 227 APR entering Sunday. Thanks, bud. But we here at NotBurt Enterprises don't give up on our friends so quickly and will ride him again in a week where Miami gets six games (@SF, @ARI) against mostly sub-par pitching.

Next Choices

Matt Shaw, CHC, 2B/3B/SS (Yahoo: 29%, ESPN: 18%) - Shaw came back from the minors to do his best post-hype breakout, averaging a 63 APR over his first three weeks back, but has now finished >300 in Weeks 11 and 12. You might want to give him another chance in Week 13, though, as the Cubs get seven games (@STL, @HOU) and three LHPs.

Brooks Lee, MIN, 2B/3B/SS (Yahoo: 16%, ESPN: 5%) - It's looking like a big egg for Lee in Week 12 (#231 entering Sunday) after two strong weeks but that good stretch was also helped by a long string of left-handed starters.  Lee will only see one leftie in his seven games this week (vs SEA, @DET)

Desperate Choices

Jeff McNeil, NYM, 2B/OF (Yahoo: 19%, ESPN: 17%) - McNeil crashed back down in Week 12 after consecutive good periods but has seven games (vs ATL, @PIT) and only one LHP in which to compile points if you're in a bind.

Ernie Clement, TOR, 2B/3B/SS (Yahoo: 19%, ESPN: 12%) - Clement and his points-friendly profile continue to be servicable but this might not be the week to rely on him for much, with Toronto only scheduled to see one left-handed starter in six games (@CLE, @BOS).

On the IL

• Michael Massey, KC, 2B (sprained ankle - no timetable)

Best Choices

That dip might have had something to do with a stretch of four LHPs in six games for Toronto, but that won't be the case this week, as the Blue Jays are only scheduled to see one LHP in six games (@CLE, @BOS).

Trevor Story, BOS, SS (Yahoo: 34%, ESPN: 12%) - After back-to-back near-top 50 weeks, it looks like the dead cat bounce is starting to slow down. But you might want to try and ride it for one more week; Boston has six games (@LAA, @TOR) and three LHP in Week 13 -- over 70 PA vs LHP this season, Story has a .335 wOBA and .769 OPS. Admittedly, not great, but you should see his numbers vs RHP.

Best Choices

Jo Adell, LAA, OF (Yahoo: 30%, ESPN: 10%) - To paraphrase what we said last week when Adell was a Best Choice: Yes, we've been fooled before and he may suck again; but you have to ride Adell when he's this hot and just hope it actually sticks this time. One of the hottest hitters in baseball gets six games this week (vs BOS, vs WSH), with two LHP on the schedule.

Jesus Sanchez, MIA, OF (Yahoo: 11%, ESPN: 4%) - Longtime readers know that I love getting to recommend some of the Jesus. Sanchez is the #46 hitter in Week 12 after finishing #48 in Week 11 and has another favorable setup this week. And by "favorable", I mean "only has to face one left-handed starter in six games" (@SF, @ARI). Jesus is absolutely god awful vs LHP, but his bat remains the truth vs RHP. So sayeth, the Nicklaus.

Next Choices

Sal Frelick, MIL, OF (Yahoo: 32%, ESPN: 24%) - One of our Best Choices last week, Frelick hasn't totally disappointed, but I was certainly hoping for more than the 116 APR he has entering Sunday. He's still a great pickup (and hold), though, and gets six games at home against mostly bad pitching (vs PIT, vs COL).

Jordan Beck, COL, OF (Yahoo: 15%, ESPN: 6%) - Beck is a top-50 hitter in Week 12 and will get one more series at home in Week 13 (vs LAD, @MIL) before heading to Milwaukee to face the back of their rotation.

Matt Wallner, MIN, OF (Yahoo: 10%, ESPN: 2%) - Wallner remains a liability vs LHP, but Minnesota is only scheduled to face one of them in their seven games (vs SEA, @DET). Facing RHP this season, Wallner has a 56 Hard Hit% and 17% Brl%.

Mike Yastrzemski, SF, OF (Yahoo: 8%, ESPN: 7%) - Breaker of spelling bees, the world over, Yastrzemski gets a week of nothing but shaky pitching and right-handed starters (vs MIA, @CHW).

Jake Mangum, TB, OF (Yahoo: 7%, ESPN: 5%) - Mangum has started all but two games since returning from the IL and has ridden a points-friendly profile to a 74 APR over the last two weeks. He's basically useless vs LHP (and Tampa will face two of them @KC and @BAL) but can be a band-aid, if needed, in the short-term.

Desperate Choices

Tyler Freeman, COL, OF (Yahoo: 4%, ESPN: 2%) - In his last four weeks, Freeman has finished in the top-50 twice and barely in the top-150 twice -- can you guess which weeks he had more home games? Freeman gets one more series at Coors (vs LAD) before heading to Milwaukee for three, with two left-handers scheduled for the week.

Fantasy Baseball Catcher Waiver Wire Pickups

Best Choices

Agustin Ramirez, MIA, C (Yahoo: 31%, ESPN: 20%) - This is getting repetitive, but I don't make the Roster%'s; if Ramirez is on your wire, he's likely the best catcher available. Hell, he might be better than your starter -- Ramirez is up to a 159 APR for the season, even though he wasn't called up until Week Five. The Marlins have six games on the road (@SF, @ARI) and will face one left-handed starter.

Next Choices

Carlos Narvaez, BOS, C (Yahoo: 22%, ESPN: 10%) - Narvaez is a part-timer, but can throw together a solid week in the right circumstances. Like this week, while the Red Sox have three left-handers on schedule in six games (@LAA, vs TOR). In 65 PA, Narvaez has posted a .405 wOBA (.393 xwOBA), while slashing .283/.415/.509, with a .924 OPS.

Tyler Stepenson, CIN, C (Yahoo: 47%, ESPN: 24%) - He's not widely available, but might be more so after a 322 APR performance so far in Week 12. If so, it's a good time to swoop in, as the Reds have three LHPs on the schedule in a six-game homestand (vs NYY, vs SD) -- Stephenson has a .403 wOBA (.374 xwOBA), .934 OPS, and a 24% K% vs LHP, compared to a .295 wOBA (.289 xwOBA), .674 OPS, and 41% K% vs RHP.

Desperate Choices

Carson Kelly, CHC, C (Yahoo: 24%, ESPN: 46%) - Remember when we were wondering if this new Carson Kelly was the latest fantasy truth? Ahh, quaint times. Kelly had four top-75 finishes in the first five weeks of the season, but since then, he has averaged a 260 APR over the last seven periods. This is a good week to jump back on the train, with Kelly and the Cubs seeing three left-handers in seven games (@STL, @HOU); facing LHP this season, Kelly has matching 11% K% and BB%, with a .394 xwOBA.

On the IL

• Gabriel Moreno, ARI, C (fractured finger - no timetable)
• Miguel Amaya, CHC, C (strained oblique - expected to miss 4-6 weeks)
• Endy Rodriguez, PIT, C/1B (elbow - no timetable)
• Rob Brantly, MIA, C (strained lat - rehab assignment)
