Lazaro Montes, OF, Seattle Mariners

Level: Double-A

2026 stats: 55 G, .235/.345/.540, 17 HR, 43 RBI, 44 R, 4 SB, 12.8% BB%, 28.1% K%, .254 BABIP, .386 wOBA, 138 wRC+

The Mariners signed Montes out of Cuba in 2022. The left-handed-hitting outfielder has produced at every level of the minor leagues, but concerns do exist about his high strikeout rates across the lower rungs of affiliated ball.

When Montes makes contact, he squares the ball up, resulting in 17 homers and 26 total extra-base hits through 55 games this year. He swings at 72% of pitches in the zone, which is encouraging, but there's also a lot of whiff in his game. He has a 37.6% whiff rate (sixth percentile) and a 68.5% zone contact rate (first percentile) this year.

Whiff concerns aside, Montes clobbered the baseball again last week, going 10-for-25 with five homers, 10 RBI, three walks, and five strikeouts. He also went 1-for-2 on stolen base attempts. The 21-year-old might never shake the risk of striking out one-third of the time, but the power should still play at the next level.

Kade Anderson, SP, Seattle Mariners

Level: Double-A

2026 stats: 10 G, 10 GS, 5-0, 49.0 IP, 1.29 ERA, 1.57 FIP, 13.96 K/9, 1.29 BB/9, 0.37 HR/9, 46.2% GB%, .278 BABIP

Anderson was the No. 3 pick in the 2025 MLB Draft, making him the first pitcher off the board. The LSU product is one of several flashy prospects in Double-A for the Mariners, joining Montes and fellow star pitching prospect Ryan Sloan.

Anderson throws four plus pitches, including a fastball that reaches 97 mph with plenty of whiffs and incredible ride. He has a great feel for his slider and curveball, and his changeup misses bats by tunneling off the fastball. He sits near the top of the Double-A leaderboard in just about every advanced metric, including whiff rate (98th percentile), out-of-zone swing rate (84th), and zone contact rate (100th).

The southpaw spun another gem last Friday, allowing zero runs, one hit, and zero walks over five innings of work. He struck out nine batters, induced 16 whiffs, and threw strikes at a 64.4% clip. He has now gone three consecutive starts (15 innings) without allowing a run. Anderson projects as a future fantasy baseball superstar by the start of the 2027 MLB season.

Tre Richardson, SS, St. Louis Cardinals

Level: High-A

2026 stats: 26 G, .337/.426/.733, 10 HR, 26 RBI, 28 R, 8 SB, 11.9% BB%, 30.7% K%, .413 BABIP, .493 wOBA, 179 wRC+

Richardson isn't a super flashy prospect, and you'll have trouble finding him in most media outlets' lists of the Cardinals' top minor leaguers. Nevertheless, he vaulted himself onto the dynasty radar with a spectacular week last week, and he's quietly putting together a terrific season.

A former 15th-round pick, Richardson's underlying metrics are modest. He walks and takes strikes at a moderate clip, but he's chasing 29.3% of the time with a 36.5% whiff rate. However, when he does get the bat on the ball, the quality of contact is encouraging. Most notably, he has a 49.1% hard-hit rate since May 7, according to Thomas Nestico.

Last week, Richardson went 7-for-17 with five home runs, nine RBI, three walks, and five strikeouts. He has a whopping 10 homers over his last 17 games, emerging as one of the higher-upside power bats at the High-A level. If he can keep it up (and also cut down on some of the chase and whiff concerns), the 24-year-old could end up being fast-tracked to the majors.

Zach Root, SP, Los Angeles Dodgers

Level: High-A

2026 stats: 8 G, 8 GS, 1-1, 24.0 IP, 1.50 ERA, 2.82 FIP, 14.25 K/9, 4.50 BB/9, 0.38 HR/9, 42.6% GB%, .208 BABIP

Root was the Dodgers' first-round pick in the 2025 MLB Draft. The southpaw from the University of Arkansas signed for just shy of $2.2 million, and he already projects as yet another one of the Dodgers' prospect success stories.

Root pitches out of a funky delivery with a pronounced leg kick. The Dodgers had him ditch his sinker for a four-seamer, and the new fastball gets plenty of ride while inducing whiffs up in the zone. The changeup and curveball are his best secondary pitches, and he rounds out his repertoire with an average cutter. He's not a super high velo guy, but all four of his offerings are average or better.

The 22-year-old made his eighth pro start last Tuesday and was nothing short of impressive. Over seven innings of work, he allowed zero runs, one hit, zero walks, and nine strikeouts. Along the way, Root posted a 67% strike rate. He has now gone six consecutive starts (20.1 innings) without an earned run, dating back to April 11.

Yordany De Los Santos, SS, Pittsburgh Pirates

Level: High-A

2026 stats: 29 G, .302/.373/.627, 11 HR, 35 RBI, 30 R, 17 SB, 7.7% BB%, 27.5% K%, .386 BABIP, .430 wOBA, 146 wRC+

De Los Santos is a 21-year-old infield prospect who signed with the Pirates out of the Dominican Republic in 2022. He fetched a $1.2 million signing bonus, and his results in the minors so far suggest that he possesses the upside to make that a worthwhile investment for the Pirates.

De Los Santos displays plus bat speed with a reduced chase rate (29.4%) and an 84th-percentile zone swing rate (72.9%). He has some swing and miss concerns (37.8%) whiff rate, but the improved results this season speak for themselves. Defensively, he has the range, arm strength, and athleticism needed to stick at shortstop long-term.

Last week, De Los Santos went 11-for-28 with three doubles, two homers, and 10 RBI. He walked twice and struck out 10 times, reminding fantasy managers that the whiff concerns are still present despite the breakout results at the plate. The talented prospect was terrific on the basepaths, going 6-for-6 on stolen base attempts. The speed/power combo gives him long-term upside in dynasty leagues.
