Bhayshul Tuten Scores Red-Zone Touchdown Against Saints
Bhayshul Tuten found the end zone for the second straight week, from three yards out this time, in a 17-17 tie against the New Orleans Saints. He finished with 35 yards on 10 carries and one catch for six yards. It wasn't the most efficient outing for the fourth-round pick, but he has now found the end zone twice this preseason playing with the second unit. Tuten is showing enough where he could earn some playing time, but that doesn't change the fact he is the third back on the depth chart behind Tank Bigsby and Travis Etienne Jr. To start the year, those two backs seem like the clear 1A and 1B, so it is hard to imagine Tuten having much value in redraft leagues barring injuries. It will be interesting to see how involved he is in the final week of preseason against the Miami Dolphins.
Jacksonville Jaguars rookie running back Tank Bigsby the First Back on the Field Against Saints
Tank Bigsby was the first back out on the field for the team in a 17-17 tie against the New Orleans Saints. Bigsby finished with two carries for six yards and one catch for 19 yards. He only played on one drive, but it was the first one of the game, a significant marker for his potential involvement during the regular season. In Week 1 of preseason, Travis Etienne Jr. was the first back out on the field, so it's interesting that the coaching staff decided to switch things up for Week 2. Etienne Jr. got on the field for the second drive with the starters, so it's likely the two will split touches to start the year. Bhayshul Tuten also played well, so it seems fantasy managers are in for tough year trying to figure out who will be the best fantasy back from the Jacksonville backfield.
Jacksonville Jaguars running back Commanders "Shopping" Brian Robinson Jr.
Brian Robinson Jr. He is entering the final year of his contract after spending his first three seasons with the Commanders. The 26-year-old has played well during his time in Washington, amassing 2,329 yards off 570 carries in 41 regular-season contests. He also caught 65 passes and totaled 20 touchdowns in that span. It's unknown how serious the team will be about a potential deal. It's also not known how many clubs around the National Football League will be interested in his services. However, Robinson's fantasy ceiling may be at its highest in Washington, where he currently sits atop the depth chart. If he ends up getting traded, Austin Ekeler should see a bump in attention from fantasy managers. That would also apply to rookie Jacory Croskey-Merritt, who could have a clearer path to more touches moving ahead.Source: Jordan Schultz
According to NFL insider Jordan Schultz, the Washington Commanders are actively "shopping" running back Samuel Basallo Collects First Career Hit
Samuel Basallo made his MLB debut against the Houston Astros on Sunday. It was a fairly quiet day for Basallo, but he was able to make some noise late in the game. Basallo smacked a two-RBI single in the eighth inning for his first career hit. He would finish this game 1-for-4 with two RBI and was also hit by a pitch. This was the first of many hits for the young prospect. Basallo figures to get regular playing time down the stretch in Baltimore. The 21-year-old should be rostered in most fantasy formats, assuming he gets regular at-bats.Source: mlb.com
Baltimore Orioles catcher/first baseman Juan Mejia Earns First Career Save
Juan Mejia was asked to close down Sunday's game against the Arizona Diamondbacks. It wasn't a pretty outing as Mejia allowed three straight hits to load up the bases. He gave up an earned run on a sacrifice fly, but was able to earn his first career save. Mejia normally doesn't pitch in the ninth inning, but Victor Vodnik was unavailable after pitching in four of the last five games. Mejia holds a 4.20 ERA, 1.22 WHIP, and a 49/15 K/BB ratio this season with Colorado. He could be in the mix for saves, but probably isn't someone worth rostering in fantasy formats right now.Source: mlb.com
Colorado Rockies relief pitcher Jordan Westburg Knocks in Five Runs
Jordan Westburg continued his hot stretch of play during Sunday's game against the Houston Astros. His biggest hit of the day came in the form of a three-run home run off right-hander Shawn Dubin in the fifth inning. Westburg would finish his day 4-for-5 with a homer, five RBI, and two runs scored in the blowout win. It wasn't a pretty start to the season for Westburg, but he has been unbelievable with the bat lately. He's hitting over .300 with eight homers and 20 RBI in his last 36 games. Westburg deserves to be rostered and started in most fantasy formats at the moment.Source: mlb.com
Baltimore Orioles infielder Javier Assad Pitches Well on Sunday
Javier Assad bounced back nicely during his start against the Pittsburgh Pirates on Sunday. The right-hander was hit around for four runs on eight hits during his first start of the season against the Toronto Blue Jays. Assad looked much better on the mound this time around. He tossed four innings, allowing one earned run on five hits while striking out three batters. Assad was limited to 65 pitches as the Cubs want to give him a chance to build up his stamina. It's unclear if Assad will remain in the starting rotation once Jameson Taillon (calf) returns. Fantasy managers might want to wait and see what happens before adding Assad.Source: mlb.com
Chicago Cubs starting pitcher Andrew Kittredge Earns Save on Sunday
Andrew Kittredge was tasked with holding a one-run lead against the Pittsburgh Pirates on Sunday. On Saturday, manager Craig Counsell said Daniel Palencia was unavailable because he was feeling under the weather. That was likely the case again as Kittredge was asked to close out this game. He tossed a perfect ninth inning to earn himself his first save of the season. Since joining the Cubs, Kittredge has thrown a scoreless outing in six of his seven appearances. If Palencia misses an extended period of time, Kittredge and Brad Keller figure to be the favorites to record saves in Chicago.Source: mlb.com
Chicago Cubs relief pitcher Konnor Griffin Promoted to Double-A
Konnor Griffin has earned himself a promotion to Double-A Altoona on Sunday. This shouldn't come as a shock given how well Griffin was hitting in Single-A. Griffin was slashing .331/.414/.525 with 16 home runs, 71 RBI, and 59 stolen bases in Single-A this season. The 19-year-old is looking fantastic in his first professional season. He's currently the top prospect in all of baseball, but probably won't be making an impact in Pittsburgh until 2026.Source: Alex Stumpf

Chris Olave Back on the Field, Records Two Catches
Chris Olave suited up for the Saints' second preseason game against the Jacksonville Jaguars. He recorded two receptions for 12 yards on four targets while playing alongside rookie quarterback Tyler Shough in Sunday’s 17-17 tie. As expected, his chemistry with the rookie quarterback appeared a bit off. However, it was a positive sign for New Orleans to see their star receiver back on the field for the first time since Week 9 of 2024. Injuries have impacted all three of his seasons in the league, including eight missed games last year after landing on IR due to a concussion. Questionable quarterback play and injury risk continue to affect his fantasy value, and he is currently ranked as WR34 in PPR formats by RotoBaller.Source: NFL.com
New Oreland Saints wide receiver Kendre Miller Logs Six Carries Against Jaguars
Kendre Miller started the first half of the Saints' second preseason game against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Miller finished with six carries for 21 yards in Sunday’s 17-17 tie. He has logged exactly six carries each in the team's two preseason contests as he looks to establish himself as Alvin Kamara's backup following two injury-plagued seasons. With Cam Akers and Clyde Edwards-Helaire turning in underwhelming performances again this week and Devin Neal (hamstring) sidelined by a hamstring injury, the backup job appears to be Miller's to lose. He's worth holding as a handcuff to Kamara in deeper fantasy leagues.Source: NFL.com
New Orleans Saints running back Alan Roden Transferred to 60-Day Injured List, Out for Season
Alan Roden (thumb) from the 10-day injured list to the 60-day IL. With Roden having landed on the shelf with a sprained left thumb on Friday, the move to the 60-day IL brings his season to an end. Acquired from the Toronto Blue Jays at the July 31 trade deadline, Roden went 6-for-38 with one home run, one RBI, 13 strikeouts, and no walks in 10 games with the Twins before they put him on the IL. Between Toronto and Minnesota, the 25-year-old rookie slumped to a .191/.261/.294 line with two homers, nine RBI, and 17 runs scored over 153 plate appearances this season.Source: Minnesota Twins
The Minnesota Twins announced that they have transferred outfielder Aaron Nola Roughed Up in Return From Injury
Aaron Nola came off the 60-day injured list on Sunday to make his first start since May 14. It didn't go well for the 32-year-old. The Phillies escaped with an 11-9 win over the Washington Nationals, but Nola lasted just 2 1/3 innings and surrendered six earned runs on seven hits with four strikeouts against one walk. The Phillies pulled Nola after 53 pitches (35 strikes), which wasn't the outcome they wanted in his comeback from a three-month stay on the IL with injuries to his ankle and ribs. Sunday's start continued a miserable season for Nola, who's 1-7 with a 6.92 ERA, a 1.60 ERA, and 56:17 K:BB in 52 innings. With ace Zack Wheeler (shoulder) now on the 15-day IL with a blood clot near his shoulder and facing an uncertain timeline to return, the Phillies are going to need a lot more from Nola. The former All-Star is scheduled to face the Nationals again on Saturday.Source: ESPN
Philadelphia Phillies right-hander Tory Horton Misses Sunday's Practice
Tory Horton (ankle) did not participate in practice on Sunday. This doesn't come as a surprise after Horton suffered an ankle injury during the second preseason game against the Kansas City Chiefs on Friday. The injury isn't considered serious, but the Seahawks are taking a cautious approach right now. The rookie wideout is currently competing with Marquez Valdes-Scantling for the third wideout spot in Seattle. A lengthy absence would certainly hurt Horton's chances of earning the role. Fantasy managers will have to check back throughout the week for more updates on his status.Source: Mike Dugar

Tyler Shough Accurate but Ineffective in Start vs Jaguars
Tyler Shough started the first half of Sunday’s preseason 17-17 tie against the Jacksonville Jaguars. He went 9-of-12 for 66 yards with no touchdowns or interceptions. The offense struggled to get going early, managing just three points across four drives with Shough under center, including two three-and-outs. Once expected to be the frontrunner for the Saints' Week 1 starting job, his inability to consistently move the ball, even with starting receivers Chris Olave and Rashid Shaheed on the field, combined with Spencer Rattler's solid performance, suggests momentum may be shifting against him. Shough remains a player to monitor, but he should stay off fantasy radars outside superflex or dynasty leagues.Source: NFL.com
New Orleans Saints rookie quarterback Kenneth Walker III Practices in Full on Sunday
Kenneth Walker III (foot) was looking good on the practice field on Sunday. Walker was able to practice in full, after dealing with foot soreness. The Seahawks have been careful with Walker early in camp because of his foot issue. Despite that, head coach Mike Macdonald said the plan is for Walker to be a full-go for Thursday's joint practice with the Green Bay Packers. This foot issue hopefully won't be something that lingers into the regular season. Fantasy managers should check back throughout the week for more updates on his status.Source: Gregg Bell
Seattle Seahawks running back Jhoan Duran Records 21st Save
Jhoan Duran picked up his 21st save of the year on Sunday in an 11-9 win over the Washington Nationals. Duran, who entered in the ninth inning with a runner on second and one out, retired both batters he faced - including a game-ending strikeout of James Wood. He threw 12 pitches (10 strikes) in his first outing since his injury scare on Friday. Duran had to leave that game on a cart after Nationals infielder Paul DeJong lined a comebacker off his right ankle. The 27-year-old was fine by Saturday, though, much to the delight of the Phillies and fantasy managers. Duran's ERA is down to 1.83 with a 1.11 WHIP and 57:18 K:BB in 54 innings.Source: ESPN
Philadelphia Phillies closer Bryce Perkins Signing with Panthers
Bryce Perkins on Sunday. The Panthers are in need of another quarterback with Andy Dalton (elbow) sidelined right now. Perkins hasn't played in the NFL since the 2022 season with the Los Angeles Rams. The 28-year-old has been lighting it up in the UFL, which earned him another shot in the NFL. Last season, Perkins threw for 1,342 passing yards with nine touchdowns and two interceptions, which earned him the UFL MVP award. Possibly, Perkins can land a bench spot, but he's mainly being brought on as depth while Dalton is injured.Source: Adam Schefter
The Carolina Panthers have signed quarterback Victor Mesa Jr. Activated from Triple-A Injured List
Victor Mesa Jr. (undisclosed) was activated from the Triple-A Jacksonville 7-day injured list on Sunday. The cause for the injured list stint was not disclosed, but hamstring issues bothered him earlier in the year and could have persisted. Regardless, it appears he's fully recovered and will be back in action for the Jumbo Shrimp in Sunday's matchup with the Norfolk Tides. The 23-year-old finished last season as the Marlins' fourth-ranked prospect, but has since fallen out of the top 30. Even so, he made his major league debut in May, recording one hit in 10 at-bats for the big league club. At Triple-A, the Cuban slashed .262/.322/.423 in 37 games, and should be back in the big leagues at some point this year or next. With decent power and speed, as well as a low 16.3 percent strikeout rate, there is potential fantasy value to be unlocked, but the left-handed slugger is not a stash candidate at this time.Source: Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp
Miami Marlins outfield prospect Jake Burger Exits With Wrist Discomfort
Jake Burger (wrist) exited early on Sunday with left-wrist discomfort, Shawn McFarland of the Dallas Morning News reports. Burger went 1-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored against the Toronto Blue Jays before the Rangers pinch-hit Ezequiel Duran for him in the top of the seventh inning. The 29-year-old has already been on the 10-day injured list twice this season (once for an oblique strain, once for a quad strain), and when healthy, his overall production has fallen short of expectations. Burger has hit an underwhelming .241/.275/.416 with 12 homers, 41 RBI, and 36 runs scored in 309 trips to the plate. To his credit, though, Burger has gotten off to a strong start in August. He's 9-for-21 with a homer, six RBI, and three runs in nine games this month.Source: Shawn McFarland - Dallas Morning News

Harrison Bryant Traded to Texans
Harrison Bryant to the Houston Texans on Sunday. Bryant and a 2026 fifth-round pick will head to Houston in exchange for wide receiver John Metchie III and a 2026 sixth-round pick. This seems like a good move for Houston to add another tight end to the mix. Dalton Schultz is going to be the No. 1 option, but the backup job is wide open right now. Bryant spent the first four seasons of his career with the Cleveland Browns. His best season came in 2022 when he hauled in 31 receptions for 239 yards and one touchdown in 17 games. He finished with only nine receptions through 13 games with the Las Vegas Raiders last season. The 27-year-old figures to be depth for Houston, so there probably won't be weekly fantasy value here.Source: Tom Pelissero
The Philadelphia Eagles have traded tight end Wilyer Abreu Leaves Early With Calf Tightness
Wilyer Abreu (calf) left a 5-3 loss to the Miami Marlins early on Sunday with tightness in his right calf. Abreu made a big impact before exiting, going 2-for-3 with a homer, two RBI, and two runs scored. The Red Sox brought third baseman Alex Bregman off the bench to fill Abreu's spot in the lineup. Abreu was on the 10-day injured list earlier this season with an oblique strain, but he has been an important part of Boston's offense when healthy. The 26-year-old has slashed .253/.325/.486 with 22 homers, 69 RBI, 52 runs scored, and six stolen bases in 395 plate appearances. Abreu should be considered day-to-day until the Red Sox release more information on his status.Source: Ian Browne - MLB.com
Boston Red Sox outfielder Jordan Love Could Return to Practice on Monday
Jordan Love, who could return to practice on Monday. The 26-year-old underwent surgery on his non-throwing left thumb to address a ligament injury he suffered in the team's first preseason game. The former first-round pick is still expected to be ready for Week 1 against the Detroit Lions. He threw for 3,389 yards and 25 touchdowns, adding 83 yards and one touchdown on the ground. RotoBaller still projects Love as a QB2 and ranks Love as QB20.Source: Weston Hodkiewicz
Green Bay Packers head coach Matt LaFleur said he "would love to get him out there tomorrow," referencing quarterback Jack Plummer Throws Two Interceptions vs. Houston
Jack Plummer went 10-for-14 for 83 yards and two interceptions in Saturday’s 20-3 loss to the Houston Texans. At the end of the second quarter, defensive lineman Danielle Hunter hit Panthers second-string quarterback Andy Dalton (elbow). The hit sent Dalton to the sideline, and he did not return. Plummer replaced Dalton and played the entire second half. Things did not go well for the young quarterback, who threw two interceptions. The University of Louisville alum went undrafted in 2024 but found a home in Carolina. According to head coach Dave Canales, Dalton's injury is believed to be a sprain to his throwing elbow, but the team will get imaging done to rule out a more severe injury. With only three quarterbacks on the roster and Canales stating the starters won't play in the third preseason game, Plummer should see plenty of action to prove that he deserves a roster spot in Carolina against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Thursday night.Source: NFL.com
Carolina Panthers quarterback Cristian Javier Exits Start With Illness
Cristian Javier (illness) left his start against the Baltimore Orioles early on Sunday "due to illness," the Astros announced. Javier threw three innings of one-run, three-hit ball with two strikeouts and no walks before Houston replaced him with righty Shawn Dubin. It was Javier's second start since he returned on Monday from June 2024 Tommy John surgery. The 28-year-old has been effective in his first eight innings back, having allowed three runs on six hits with 7:2 K:BB. As of now, he's scheduled to make another start against the Orioles on Friday.Source: Chandler Rome - The Athletic

Ryan Fitzgerald Battling to Start in Carolina
Ryan Fitzgerald is making a strong case for the Carolina Panthers' starting kicker job. He accounted for the team's only points with an impressive 52-yard field goal in Saturdays’s 20-3 preseason loss to the Houston Texans. Fitzgerald signed with the Panthers as an unrestricted free agent after the 2025 NFL Draft, but some analysts had him pegged as the top kicker in his class. His college stats at Florida State back up the hype. He was nearly perfect in his final two seasons, hitting 90.5% of his field goals as a junior and a flawless 100% as a senior. Fitzgerald is currently battling four-year veteran Matthew Wright, who is listed first on the depth chart. Wright will have to hold off the rookie's momentum. If Fitzgerald continues to perform well this preseason, the Panthers will have a difficult decision.Source: NFL.com
