2026 College Fantasy Football Wide Receiver News

Derek Meadows, Alabama

Alabama wide receiver Derek Meadows has had a strong camp in the absence of Lotzeir Brooks (undisclosed) and Noah Rogers (undisclosed), according to Charlie Potter of BamaOnLine. The four-star recruit in the Class of 2025 out of Las Vegas played in 12 games last season, but he was primarily on special teams and did not record an offensive stat.

"He got more opportunities today than most of the receiving corps, and I thought today was a really good growth day for him," head coach Kalen DeBoer said of Meadows. "Competitive catches, in particular. Using that big body to go up and make some plays. I like the way he's battling, and he's really growing." Quarterback Keelon Russell is expected to be named the starter, and he'll have no shortage of offensive weapons to work with. Meadows could be an impact player in 2026.

T.J. Moore, Clemson

Clemson starting wide receiver T.J. Moore (undisclosed) is "close" to 100%, according to head coach Dabo Swinney. Moore did not participate in Thursday's scrimmage, but Swinney said, "He's just banged up and should be good to go here soon."

As a sophomore, Moore recorded 837 yards and four touchdowns in 13 games, ranking 10th in the nation among sophomores. The five-star recruit is aiming for a big year in 2026 as the projected WR2 behind Bryant Wesco Jr., with Christopher Vizzina as the starting quarterback. Currently ranked WR25 in RotoBaller's positional rankings, Moore offers upside at the wide receiver position in fantasy drafts this season.

Dozie Ezukanma, TCU

TCU sophomore wide receiver Dozie Ezukanma is reportedly hospitalized after being assaulted by former TCU safety Jacob Fields in the locker room on August 14. Fields, a transfer from Louisiana Tech, has since been dismissed from the program. Ezukanma is unlikely to play in the Week 0 game against North Carolina next weekend. The sophomore was expected to be in the starting lineup after catching just two passes for 28 yards a season ago.

Cam Vaughn, Miami

Miami wide receiver Cam Vaughn has been dismissed from the program, according to head coach Mario Cristobal. The junior pass-catcher joined the Canes after one season with Jacksonville State and one year with West Virginia. He caught 83 passes for 1,344 yards and nine touchdowns over the last two campaigns.

A reason has not been given for his dismissal. Although this isn't ideal, Miami has no shortage of wide receiver talent. Last year's top freshman, Malachi Toney, is back, and the Canes brought in Cooper Barkate, who was a 1,000-yard receiver at Duke, catching passes from Darian Mensah last season. Vandrevius Jacobs, who caught 32 passes for 548 yards and four touchdowns in 2025 at Florida State, is Miami's projected WR3.

Jayden Sellers, Jayden Gibson, South Carolina

South Carolina wide receivers Jayden Sellers (lower body) and Jayden Gibson (lower body) won't play in 2026 due to lower-body injuries, according to Lulu Kesin of Greenville News. Sellers is the younger brother of starting quarterback LaNorris Sellers and caught 22 passes for 337 yards and one touchdown as a freshman. Gibson is set to miss his third straight season due to injuries. He began his career at Oklahoma, catching 15 passes for 387 yards and five touchdowns in 2022 and 2023.

"I am extremely disappointed for both of these young men," head coach Shane Beamer said. "I know how hard each of them has worked over the spring and summer in getting ready for 2026 to help our team. I have full confidence they will both overcome the adversity they're facing, and we will help them in whatever way we can throughout the rehab process moving forward." Nyck Harbor, Nitro Tuggle, and Mazeo Bennett Jr. are expected to start in three-wide sets for the Gamecocks.

Chas Nimrod, Auburn

Auburn wide receiver Chas Nimrod spent the first three years of his college career at Tennessee, catching 29 passes for 315 yards and one touchdown in 27 career games. He transferred to South Florida to reunite with former Tennessee offensive coordinator Alex Golesh and caught 23 passes for 466 yards and three touchdowns.

He's now with Golesh at Auburn, and although he wasn't the flashiest transfer the Tigers picked up this offseason, his experience in the system and in the SEC gives him "huge upside," according to an On3 source. Pete Nakos reports that the program expects "big things" out of the senior pass-catcher. Auburn's offense could surprise this season, as many of its starters come from South Florida, and there won't be a substantial learning curve. Nimrod will be a key piece of that effort.
