Week 3 Fantasy Football Tight End Outlooks
Dalton Kincaid, Buffalo Bills
Buffalo Bills tight end Dalton Kincaid has gotten off to a respectable start through the first two games of the 2025 season. The former first-round pick has hauled in eight of 10 targets for 85 yards and a touchdown heading into a meeting with the Miami Dolphins on Thursday.
For their part, the Dolphins have given up 12 catches, 146 yards, and the 10th-most fantasy points to tight ends in the early going. That sets up for Kincaid to have a fairly productive night, though a lack of scoring prowess may continue to limit his ceiling. Kincaid has totaled just five touchdowns in 31 games in his career, while the Dolphins have not allowed a tight end to find the end zone this year.
Kyle Pitts, Atlanta Falcons
Atlanta Falcons tight end Kyle Pitts Sr. reeled in four of his five targets in Sunday's 22-6 victory over the Vikings. Those catches produced just 37 yards; however, his involvement is encouraging thus far after underwhelming from 2022 through 2024. The former fourth-overall draft pick owns a 20.6 percent target share through the team's first two contests, a stark contrast to his 13.7 percent share from 2024. There was some thought that his seven-catch performance in Week 1 should be at least partly attributed to the absence of Darnell Mooney, but with Mooney back on the field in Week 2, the 24-year-old garnered 23.8 percent target share, which was more than Mooney and even more than No. 1 receiver Drake London.
We've seen this movie before, though, where the 6-foot-6 tight end looks good for a couple of weeks and then fades into obscurity for a few weeks, so we'll see if it lasts. Week 3 brings a favorable matchup with Carolina, who just allowed eight catches for 123 yards to the Arizona TEs, so it should be a good test to see if Pitts' uptick in target share is for real or not.
Darren Waller, Miami Dolphins
The Miami Dolphins created buzz in July when they signed previously retired tight end Darren Waller, but through two weeks, the 33-year-old has yet to make his debut. Waller last played in 2023 with the Giants, posting 552 yards and 52 catches, but questions remain about whether he can regain his form. For now, the Dolphins have leaned exclusively on Tanner Conner at tight end, who has managed just two receptions for 20 yards on four targets this season.
Miami's offense has struggled to find consistent balance, and while the passing attack should feature plenty of Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle (if active), the lack of production at tight end remains a glaring hole. Fantasy managers should continue to leave Waller on waivers until there's clarity about his role and timeline for return.
Tyler Warren, Indianapolis Colts
Indianapolis Colts rookie tight end Tyler Warren (toe) was listed as a non-participant on Wednesday's injury report due to a toe injury. Fantasy managers should keep a close eye on his status during the week, as he could be dealing with a serious injury. Through his first two games in the NFL, the former Penn State standout has enjoyed an outstanding start to his career. Warren has emerged as a key component of the Indianapolis offense, as he has caught 11 of his 16 targets for 155 yards.
With Daniel Jones enjoying a career resurgence in Indianapolis, Warren should continue to hold high-end TE1 value for the foreseeable future. If Warren were to sit out in Week 3 when the Colts face the Tennessee Titans, wide receivers Michael Pittman Jr., Alec Pierce, and Josh Downs should see an increased target share.
Brock Bowers, Las Vegas Raiders
Las Vegas Raiders tight end Brock Bowers (knee) injured his knee in the season-opening win over the New England Patriots and was questionable to face the Los Angeles Chargers on Monday Night Football in Week 2. Bowers ended up playing, handling 77 percent of the offensive snaps while catching five of his eight targets for a disappointing 38 yards in a 20-9 loss.
As long as the 22-year-old former first-rounder doesn't have a setback with his knee at practice later this week, he should be ready to roll for a nice Week 3 matchup against the Washington Commanders. Washington has allowed the fourth-most half-PPR points to opposing tight ends through two weeks, so Bowers could be primed for a big day this Sunday. He is already one of the top TEs in the NFL after posting a 112-1,194-5 line on 153 targets in 17 games in his rookie year in 2024.
Evan Engram, Denver Broncos
Denver Broncos tight end Evan Engram (back) was held out of Wednesday's practice session. Engram was dealing with a calf issue last week, but still managed to play in the Week 2 loss to the Indianapolis Colts. However, fantasy managers might not have noticed he played, considering he only hauled in one catch for 12 yards during that contest. The veteran tight end has a total of four catches through the first two weeks. His decrease in usage should be more of a concern than this back injury.
Fantasy managers should check back on Thursday and Friday for another update on his status. If he sits, Adam Trautman would see an increased role for the Week 3 matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers. Engram should be rostered in most formats, but is tough to trust after two straight duds.
