Points League Hitters: Fantasy Baseball Waiver Wire Pickups for Week 12 (June 16 - June 22)

Agustin Ramirez - Fantasy Baseball Rankings, MLB Prospects, Draft Sleepers

Nicklaus' H2H points fantasy baseball waiver wire pickups for hitters in Week 12 (2025) - June 16 - June 22. Free-agent hitters to add in points leagues.

Welcome, RotoBallers, to our H2H points fantasy baseball waiver wire pickups for hitters for Week 12 of the 2025 season. These fantasy baseball waiver wire pickups are for the week of June 16 - June 22, looking at players below ~50 percent rostered on ESPN or Yahoo points leagues.

We'll be doing this points league roundup every week here at RotoBaller because we know points players get neglected, and we're here to help. Player values can vary wildly from platform to platform, so we'll highlight where players are the best and worst fits, with waiver-wire targets being evaluated in terms of the different scoring systems on ESPN, Yahoo, CBS, Fantrax, and NFBC.

Position eligibility is taken from Fantrax, and players are grouped by their most valuable fantasy position, using a hierarchy of C > 2B > OF > 3B > 1B > SS. Stats and rankings are calculated using games through Saturday, June 14.

Be sure to check all of our fantasy baseball draft tools and resources:

Waiver Wire Caveats and APR Explanation

Roster% Thresholds

We use a combination of roster percentages to assess who is in our target pool, relying mostly on Yahoo and ESPN. For some players, you'll notice a wide discrepancy between the two. This is because ESPN's roster percentage is heavily weighted by points players, with guys who don't do well in their system (often because of an inflated strikeout rate) lagging behind the Yahoo! roster percentage.

For this reason, you'll sometimes see players (especially early) who might make you question my sanity in including them in a waiver-wire article, but don't worry, it's just a necessary glitch for coverage purposes.

APR stands for "Average Platform Rank" and is the average hitter rank between the four major point platforms: ESPN, Yahoo, CBS, and Fantrax. All player data is from FanGraphs and Baseball Savant, with injury information pulled from the Roster Resource section on the former.

*Father's Day Caveat!* -- With it being (arguably) the best holiday of the year, player notes will be abbreviated. Happy Day, y'all!

Fantasy Baseball First Base Waiver Wire Pickups

Best Choices

Ryan O'Hearn, BAL, 1B/OF (Yahoo: 42%, ESPN: 33%) - Only one LHP in seven games (@TB, @NYY), therefore, he'll probably be awesome.

Nathaniel Lowe, WSH, 1B (Yahoo: 45%, ESPN: 21%) - The #106 hitter for the season, seven games and only one LHP this week (vs. COL, @LAD)

Miguel Vargas, CHW, 1B/3B/OF (Yahoo: 37%, ESPN: 28%) - Vargas still being below our Roster% threshold is befuddling -- 74 APR over his last five periods. He has six games this week (vs. STL, @TOR), facing only one LHP.

Next Choices

Nolan Schanuel, LAA, 1B (Yahoo: 12%, ESPN: 10%) - His Roster% remains unconsciousable -- he's up to a 106 APR for the season and has been in the top-60 in three of his last five periods. Matchups aren't great this week (@NYY, vs. HOU, three LHP in seven games).

Carlos Santana, CLE, 1B (Yahoo: 15%, ESPN: 13%) - Coming off of yet another top-100 week (seven such finished in 2025), Santana gets three LHPs in six games (@SF, @ATH).

Ty France, MIN, 1B (Yahoo: 7%, ESPN: 5%) - France is up to a near-top 100 APR for the season and gets three LHPs in six games (@CIN, vs. MIL).

Desperate Choices

Eric Wagaman, MIA, 1B/3B/OF (Yahoo: 3%, ESPN: 3%) - Wagaman is on his way to a top-100 finish in Week 12 and has finished in the top-150 in four of the last five weeks. Don't expect a giant ceiling, but he continues to provide solid value, and Week 12 is a great chance to keep it going with four LHPs scheduled in seven games (vs. PHI, vs. ATL).

This season, Wagaman has a .406 xwOBA and 49% HH% vs. LHP, with just a 17% K%.

Kyle Manzardo, CLE, 1B (Yahoo: 12%, ESPN: 7%) - The rookie has been pretty bad lately but gets three LHPs in six games (@SF, @ATH). The lefty-hitting Manzardo has actually held his own against his fellow lefties -- in 41 PA, he has a .401 wOBA, .385 xwOBA, 19.2 Brl%, and 50% HH%.

Josh H. Smith, TEX, 1B/3B/SS (Yahoo: 34%, ESPN: 15%) - The #4 hitter in Week 11 but is scheduled versus two LHPs in Week 12 (vs. KC, @PIT).

On the IL

Fantasy Baseball Second Base Waiver Wire Pickups

Best Choices

Otto Lopez, MIA, 2B/SS (Yahoo: 9%, ESPN: 7%) - Lopez has had three-straight top-100 finishes, seven games and four LHPs this week (vs. PHI, vs. ATL).

Thairo Estrada, COL, 2B (Yahoo: 6%, ESPN: 2%) - Points-friendly profile is warming up after returning a few weeks ago and gets three games at Coors (@WSH, vs. ARI).

Next Choices

Jonathan India, KC, 2B/3B/OF (Yahoo: 37%, ESPN: 44%) - Been quietly pretty solid since the start of May and is up to a 160 APR for the season; six games this week with one LHP (@TEX, @SD).

Chase Meidroth, CHW, 2B/3B/SS (Yahoo: 21%, ESPN: 14%) - Stinker in Week 11 (#267) but entered the period with top-50 finishes in three of the previous four weeks. He has six games in Week 12 (vs. STL, @TOR).

Desperate Choices

Ernie Clement, TOR, 2B/3B/SS (Yahoo: 15%, ESPN: 9%) - Bounced back for a 62 APR in Week 11, has six games with one LHP in Week 12 (vs. ARI, vs. CHW).

Jeff McNeil, NYM, 2B/OF (Yahoo: 20%, ESPN: 18%) - Three top-100 periods in a row but will see two LHPs in six games (@ATL, @PHI).

On the IL

  • Luke Keaschall, MIN, 2B (fractured forearm - no timetable)
  • Lenyn Sosa, CHW, 1B/2B/3B (strained hip - rehab assignment)

Fantasy Baseball Third Base Waiver Wire Pickups

Best Choices

Ryan McMahon, COL, 3B (Yahoo: 26%, ESPN: 4%) - McMahon is finishing his second-best week of the year and gets three games at home, with only one LHP on the schedule (@WSH, vs. ARI).

Miguel Vargas, CHW, 1B/3B/OF (Yahoo: 37%, ESPN: 28%) - Vargas still being below our Roster% threshold is befuddling -- 74 APR over his last five periods. Six games this week (vs. STL, @TOR), one LHP.

Cam Smith, HOU, 3B/OF (Yahoo: 10%, ESPN: 5%) - Smith has been inconsistent but solid and gets three LHPs in his seven games (@ATH, @LAA). It's a small sample, but over 30 PA vs. LHP this season, Smith has a .392 wOBA, .439 xwOBA, and 54% HH%.

Next Choices

Marcelo Mayer, BOS, 3B/SS (Yahoo: 20%, ESPN: 9%) - The hype is slowly heating up after a terrible start -- Mayer is the #92 hitter this week after finishing #143 last period. The lefty will have to face two left-handed starters this week, which could limit his ceiling (@SEA, @SF).

Six games in Week 12 (vs. STL, @TOR).

Desperate Choices

Eric Wagaman, MIA, 1B/3B/OF (Yahoo: 3%, ESPN: 3%) - Wagaman is on his way to a top-100 finish in Week 12 and has finished in the top-150 in four of the last five weeks. Don't expect a giant ceiling, but he continues to provide solid value, and Week 12 is a great chance to keep it going with four LHP scheduled in seven games (vs. PHI, vs. ATL).

This season, Wagaman has a .406 xwOBA and 49% HH% vs. LHP, with just a 17% K%.

Ernie Clement, TOR, 2B/3B/SS (Yahoo: 15%, ESPN: 9%) - Bounced back for a 62 APR in Week 11, has six games and one LHP in Week 12 (vs. ARI, vs. CHW).

Josh H. Smith, TEX, 1B/3B/SS (Yahoo: 34%, ESPN: 15%) - The #4 hitter in Week 11 but is scheduled versus two LHP in Week 12 (vs. KC, @PIT).

On the IL

  • Noelvi Marte, CIN, 3B (strained oblique - no timetable)
  • Miguel Andujar, ATH, 3B/OF (strained oblique - no timetable)
  • Lenyn Sosa, CHW, 1B/2B/3B (strained hip - rehab assignment)
  • Yoan Moncada, LAA, 3B (knee inflammation - no timetable)
  • Matt Vierling, DET, 3B/OF (shoulder inflammation - rehab assignment)
  • Jeimer Candelario, CIN, 1B/3B (strained back - rehab assignment)
  • Paul DeJong, 3B/SS, WSH (fractured nose - no timetable)

Fantasy Baseball Shortstop Waiver Wire Pickups

Best Choices

Otto Lopez, MIA, 2B/SS (Yahoo: 9%, ESPN: 7%) - Three-straight top-100 finishes, seven games and four LHPs this week (vs. PHI, vs. ATL).

Carlos Correa, MIN, SS (Yahoo: 27%, ESPN: 38%) - If you're going to stream Correa, do it in a week where he'll face four LHPs (@CIN, vs. MIL). This season, Correa is slashing .289/.319/.622 vs. LHP, with a 57 HH% and .400 wOBA.

Next Choices

Marcelo Mayer, BOS, 3B/SS (Yahoo: 20%, ESPN: 9%) - The hype is slowly heating up after a terrible start -- Mayer is the #92 hitter this week after finishing #143 last period. The lefty will have to face two left-handed starters this week (@SEA, @SF).

Chase Meidroth, CHW, 2B/3B/SS (Yahoo: 21%, ESPN: 14%) - Stinker in Week 11 (#267) but entered the period with top-50 finishes in three of the previous four weeks. Six games in Week 12 (vs. STL, @TOR).

J.P. Crawford, SEA, SS (Yahoo: 14%, ESPN: 9%) - What is Crawford, may never die; J.P. is the #42 hitter in Week 11 and is averaging a 63 APR over his last three periods. He has six games but will face two LHPs in Week 12 (vs. BOS, @CHC).

Desperate Choices

Trevor Story, BOS, SS (Yahoo: 32%, ESPN: 12%) - Eek! Zombie! This Story is probably just a dead-cat bounce—six games and two LHPs in Week 12 (@SEA, @SF).

Ernie Clement, TOR, 2B/3B/SS (Yahoo: 15%, ESPN: 9%) - Bounced back for a 62 APR in Week 11, has six games and one LHP in Week 12 (vs. ARI, vs. CHW).

Josh H. Smith, TEX, 1B/3B/SS (Yahoo: 34%, ESPN: 15%) - The #4 hitter in Week 11 but is scheduled versus two LHPs in Week 12 (vs. KC, @PIT).

On the IL

  • Matt Vierling, DET, 3B/OF (shoulder inflammation - rehab assignment)
  • Paul DeJong, 3B/SS, WSH (fractured nose - no timetable)

Fantasy Baseball Outfielder Waiver Wire Pickups

Best Choices

Sal Frelick, MIL, OF (Yahoo: 26%, ESPN: 22%) - Frelick has a very points-friendly profile and continues to electrify the APR scene. He's the #25 hitter in Week 11, making it three top-50 finishes in his last four periods (#117 in the other one). I don't know why he's still available, but he shouldn't be.

Especially in a week with no LHP scheduled in his six games (@CHC, @MIN).

Ryan O'Hearn, BAL, 1B/OF (Yahoo: 42%, ESPN: 33%) - Only one LHP in seven games (@TB, @NYY), therefore, he'll probably be awesome.

Jo Adell, LAA, OF (Yahoo: 27%, ESPN: 9%) - We've seen this story flame out before, but you have to ride Adell when he's this hot -- averaging a 38 APR over his last three periods. He'll get seven games and three LHPs to try and keep it going (@NYY, vs. HOU).

Dane Myers, MIA, OF (Yahoo: 2%, ESPN: 1%) - His hot start got derailed by an injury, but Myers is warming back up, currently #130 in Week 11. But Week 12 is a good bet for another big period, with four LHPs in seven games (vs. PHI, vs. ATL). In his first 46 PA vs. LHP this season, Myers is slashing a ridiculous .381/.435/.571, with a 1.006 OPS, .437 wOBA, and 58% HH%.

Miguel Vargas, CHW, 1B/3B/OF (Yahoo: 37%, ESPN: 28%) - Vargas still being below our Roster% threshold is befuddling -- 74 APR over his last five periods. Six games this week (vs. STL, @TOR), one LHP.

Cam Smith, HOU, 3B/OF (Yahoo: 10%, ESPN: 5%) - Smith has been inconsistent but solid and gets three LHP in his seven games (@ATH, @LAA). It's a small sample, but over 30 PA vs. LHP this season, Smith has a .392 wOBA, .439 xwOBA, and 54% HH%.

Next Choices

Jake Mangum, TB, OF (Yahoo: 5%, ESPN: 3%) - He's been a disaster vs. LHP but has handled RHP -- Mangum is slashing .329/.382/.415 vs. LHP, with just a 15.7% K%. In Week 12, Tampa Bay has seven games, with no LHP on the schedule (vs. BAL, vs. DET).

Jordan Beck, COL, OF (Yahoo: 17%, ESPN: 6%) - Beck was a dud in Week 11 but gets a series at home in Week 12, with one LHP on the schedule (@WSH, vs. ARI).

Jonathan India, KC, 2B/3B/OF (Yahoo: 37%, ESPN: 44%) - Been quietly pretty solid since the start of May and is up to a 160 APR for the season; six games this week with one LHP (@TEX, @SD).

Tyler Freeman, COL, OF (Yahoo: 3%, ESPN: 1%) - Freeman has been playable these last few weeks and gets a home series in Week 12 (@WSH, vs. ARI).

Jeff McNeil, NYM, 2B/OF (Yahoo: 20%, ESPN: 18%) - Three top-100 periods in a row but will see two LHP in six games (@ATL, @PHI).

On the IL

  • Tyler O'Neill, BAL, OF (shoulder impingement - no timetable)
  • Austin Hays, CIN, OF (foot contusion -no timetable)
  • Victor Robles, SEA, OF (shoulder dislocation - expected to miss ~three months)
  • Daulton Varsho, TOR, OF (strained hamstring - no timetable)
  • Garrett Mitchell, MIL, OF (strained oblique - rehab assignment)
  • Luke Raley, SEA, 1B/OF (strained oblique - rehab assignment)
  • Miguel Andujar, ATH, 3B/OF (strained oblique - no timetable)
  • Jonny DeLuca, TB, OF (strained shoulder - rehab assignment)
  • Jose Siri, TB, OF (fractured shin - expected to miss eight to 10 weeks)

Fantasy Baseball Catcher Waiver Wire Pickups

Best Choices

Agustin Ramirez, MIA, C (Yahoo: 31%, ESPN: 20%) - Ramirez has been one of the best catchers in point leagues since being called up in Week 4, but still remains available in more than a third of leagues. In fact, he even dropped a few points this week, even after turning in yet another #100ish finish (#113).

If you've been waiting, now is a good time to jump on the bandwagon. Ramirez and the Marlins have seven games in Week 12 (vs. PHI, vs. ATL), with a whopping four of them coming against left-handed starters. In 44 PA vs. LHP to start his MLB career, Ramirez is slashing .250/.318/.475, with a .346 wOBA, and .793 OPS.

Statcast says he's been even better, though -- those numbers have a .281 xBA, .557 xSLG, and .383 xwOBA behind them, with a 52% Hard Hit%.

Ryan Jeffers, MIN, C (Yahoo: 15%, ESPN: 7%) - Gets three games at Cincinnati's band box stadium, with three LHPs on the schedule for the week (@CIN, vs. MIL). Jeffers has a .347 wOBA, .373 xwOBA, and .429 OBP vs. LHP this season.

Next Choices

Tyler Stephenson, CIN, C (Yahoo: 39%, ESPN: 26%) - Six games in Week 11 (vs. MIN, @STL), 55 APR over his last three periods.

Gabriel Moreno, ARI, C (Yahoo: 33%, ESPN: 25%) - He's been mediocre for two weeks but will see three LHPs and gets a series in Colorado.

Desperate Choices

Alejandro Kirk, TOR, C (Yahoo: 38%, ESPN: 46%) - Has been on fire lately but only has one LHP on the schedule this week (vs. ARI, vs. CHW).

On the IL

  • Joey Bart, PIT, C (concussion - rehab assignment)
  • Patrick Bailey, SF, C (strained neck - no timetable)
  • Miguel Amaya, CHC, C (strained oblique - expected to miss 4-6 weeks)
  • Endy Rodriguez, PIT, C/1B (elbow - no timetable)
  • Rob Brantly, MIA, C (strained lat - no timetable)
