When Baltimore Ravens running back J.K. Dobbins was placed on injured reserve last weekend, the outlooks for the other tailbacks in Baltimore immediately improved. One such player who has seen his workload increase during Dobbins's absence is Gus Edwards. Edwards ran the ball 16 times for 66 yards and two touchdowns in Week 7 against Cleveland, and on Thursday this week, he gained 65 yards on 11 attempts.
Unfortunately, Edwards was unable to complete this week's game versus Tampa Bay. He exited in the fourth quarter after suffering a hamstring injury. While the Ravens held on to win 27-22, Edwards has been a crucial part of the offense over the past two games.
How serious is Edwards's injury? What does his outlook for Week 9 against New Orleans look like? Continue reading for the answers to these questions.

Is Gus Edwards Injured?
Gus Edwards is indeed injured, having sustained a hamstring injury late in Baltimore's win over the Buccaneers. The team designated him as questionable to return at the time he went down.

Edwards did not return to the contest. Kenyan Drake took the reins as the lead option in the backfield after his departure from the game, with Justice Hill also seeing some action.
Thankfully, Baltimore head coach John Harbaugh gave comments after the game that suggested Edwards's injury is not a major cause for concern. He said that the injury did not look too serious, but the team was awaiting further details.
John Harbaugh said it doesn't look like Gus' hamstring injury doesn't seem too bad but will know more tomorrow.

With Baltimore's next game being scheduled for next Monday, Edwards will have extra time to let his hamstring heal. Between that fact and Harbaugh's comments, things seem to be looking up for Edwards at the moment.
Gus Edwards Week 9 Fantasy Football Outlook
Edwards was the top running back option on the Ravens in both Week 7 and Week 8. Edwards led the team in carries on Thursday with 11; second among running backs was Kenyan Drake with seven, but five of those came after Edwards exited. He is a startable fantasy option thanks to his role in a fairly run-heavy offense; the team averages 28.6 rushing attempts per game, seventh-most in the NFL.
The Saints have allowed the 12th-fewest fantasy points per game, 11th-most rushing yards per game, and 14th-most rushing touchdowns per game to opposing running backs this season. This matchup will not influence Edwards's outlook strongly in either direction; assuming he plays, he should be an RB2/3 option in Week 9.
